I was from Bicol and we have a family coconut plantation and I always saw the o-ok worms from the dead coconut trees .... but we dont ate them. Only the chicken loves them and the truth is I have no idea that those worms can be eaten, until I meet aboginal people here in Australia.

  • I wanted to go to Palawan.

  • People should be more like him, and not criticizing every single detail.

  • I've been here, and those lizards are used to having people around, and are practically harmless. It's those monkeys you should be careful around. Word of advice: don't wear your hats, unless its tied to your head.

  • @lonelyguysolid wont the monkey try to rip it off and in the process choke you??

  • @YaoiAngel00

No, they're not that big. Not also if you tie it below your chin and not around your neck.

  • I wish he'd tried eating betamax, adidas, helmet, and specially rice rats.

  • @mecha1019 margarito, marquez and bunch of friends. lol

  • I've lived in the Philippines for 18 years and i've never heard of anyone eating dog or cat meat... and if they do eat those kinds of meat remember that it doesn't give you more than 400 calories per slice like pizza.

  • he never tried the DOG meat here in baguio!

  • its just amino acids, chickens, cows, humans (ok maybe i shouldn't say human), worms its just amino acids. they're just put together in a different way, but they're really just the same stuff.. and that saying something coming from me, as a vegan lmao

  • My dog looks good...

  • I'm Filipino, and I must admit our cuisine is for the adventurous. But it's very rewarding if one dares to try our food. After all, it's good; why did we prepare these dishes in the first place? :D

  • @engrish2006 Watched the whole series, and the only thing I've eaten was Balot. :))

When I come back, I wanna try more stuff... <3

Eeexecpt the worm... maybe no... XD :D

  • They didnt show sisig!?

    I love that stuff!

  • at the end " I like the chicken heads better *laughs* that was a good one"

  • i love bird spit soup!

  • @tryron78 bird's nest man..

you should come here and try an exotic delicacy,

    snake or DOG meat

  • @meowtrox What does dog taste like?

  • @Nigelxman it has a distinctive taste, can compare it with others, it's like a combination of pork and beef, you can try it,, don't be disgusted by it, afterall , they have four legs like pigs do

  • he should research more bizarre foods in PH...he should tasted the rice field rats...yummy! ...waaaah! hidlaw ko sa dinuguan and pantat !!!!

  • dinuguan is good, i like it.

  • When you went to Pampangga should have tried the "Burong Palaka". It is permented rice and frogs that more like a vomit than food. I didn't try it, I couldn't bare the smell of it.

  • if he went to laguna he gonna have a lot of fun

    the falls

    mount maria makiling

  • they suppose to take the abandoned nest. however, some people, because they want to make fast money, they even took the occupied nest, eventually kills the young bird which still cant fly.

  • the nest can be cook.. they called it NIDO soup and its expensive...

  • good

  • On a Filipino documentary about Tamilok or mangrove worms..

  • (this is not a joke, its a true story)

Sounds weird but the magrove worm was called Tamilok because of this:

An American couple , Saw natives eating those mangrove worms and the husband stared at his wife and he said "Tammy Look" The natives dont have a name for those mangrove worms, they just eat it. After hearing the American saying "Tammy look" they called it Tamilok.

  • haahaha no wais lol, whered u find that out from xD

  • ahaha i still laughed, true or not ahah!

  • @1Nanalo hey tammy look... wahahaha..

  • nung pinakita yung bayawak sa umpisa ng vid akala ko kakain din sya ng bayawak!

    sayang. masarap din yun. :)

  • he should have tried the raw sea cucumber salad... i wonder if it tastes the same as palawan's tamilok/worm...

  • lol at 4:06 hes like o shit, but disguised with laughter

  • Some people eat this "mangrove worm" in northern Brasil, here it`s called Turu. They eat it in a soup, or raw, like in the video...

I live in the south of the country, far away from this sort of exotic things, like turu and roasted ants, for example (some people told me that roasted ants are really good :P).

But we eat pinhão (araucaria pine nut) and other things that most people find strange, is just a matter of perception.

  • wheres #5???? lol not the soup but the part 5 of 6?

  • it's actually called 5v2. DerfMik reuploaded it.

  • i wanna see andrew zimmerman in a couple of movies im pretty sure he's one a heck funny guy.his commercil is good also gotta see it.

  • where's the Part 5?

im a filam and here in the philippines and my jaw dropped with the diff foods i saw first hand. dishes my mom never made. and then i saw this episode and i am super grateful my mom never made some of these dishes.

  • those food can be eatin w. everybody....he's lookin for something delicacy and truly bizzare.

  • good point

  • Casey Serin is a gay man.

  • sinuglaw is the best a raw fish mix with grilled pork hastang lamiaa unya halang dayun

  • i didn't realize we filipinos actually eat worm...

  • believe me we eat everything that moves

  • even not sure if it moves, we still eat 'em. LMAO

  • how about eating askal? that shod b bizarre

  • People from all over the world eat "weird" things including the Western world. Eating worms in the Phil is like Americans eating Alligators in parts of the South. It is a select few who eats certain foods, thus a delicacy. Another example, French eat snails, Japanese eat earth worms, Mexicans/Chinese eat rats, etc. etc., but it is not like the widespread norm like the Phil noodle dishes, siopao, menudo, etc.

  • @lea210 lol not all the mexican people eat rats just like the 00.1% out of 100%

  • @lea210 eww mexican/chinese eats rats??...

  • @lalagirl211 apas ko nimo heehehe

  • omfg he forgot putos, pancit and mmmmmm chicken"n"pork adobo!!!

  • but that's not bizarre hahaha

  • @NJNetsFan5152433 Looks a bit bizarre to me, Honey. ;)

  • fucking homo pancit is from china, NOODLES!?!?!? daym tanga tanga

  • he forgot something! the legendary kinilaw!

  • we're not pacific islanders! consult the definition of this two words

  • haha. GO MANNY

  • kasi very popular talga lechon sa atin.though kahit sa ibang bansa not a big deal un..roasted pork sa hawaii di ba? pero kakabit na ng pinoy and balot/lechon..dami pa nyang na miss na food.kulang an 1 week ni andrew sa pinas...

  • Gotta give it to Zimmern. He's a brave man.

  • they missed alot.. how about the mango plantation in the phil?

  • so what's so bizarre about the mango plantation? mangoes with duck embryos in it?

  • lol... mango dip with sauted shrimp? lol

actually ive missed the "nbizarre thinggyy"ahaha

  • mango dipped in sauted shrimp (alamang) or the so-called bagoong

  • part 6 is crap, where is the food?

  • delic shoes!

  • First of all, the title of the show is BIZARRE FOODS... so I don't understand why people are complaining about not including Cebu and it's famous lechon.

Walang kakaiba sa lechon, masarap lang talaga s'ya, yun lang. (There's nothing bizarre about roasted pig, it's just yummy that's all.)

  • If I'm not mistaken, there is a dish that utalizes those cave bird nests. Bird nest soup.

  • korek!bird nest soup at mahal per order nun.

  • You haven't try the pancit,bihon,puto,lomi.

    you misssed the fun

  • and also Pinakbet & Pinapaitan. And also the Goat na kilawen. Halo-halo. Sinanglaw & bulalo.

  • that dude wasted a big chunk of his life for not going to cebu to taste the filipino "ALLaround-Holiday cuisine!" the Lechon/litson or whatever it spells like.!

@the host.. you should've hook up with me. i know every good "native" cuisines on the philippines which you totally missed..

  • korek!ka dyan.katilaw ta siya sa litson sa cebu.lami kaayo.!peace!!!

  • Lechon is hardly 'bizaare'. It's called 'roasted pig'

And it's hardly an authentic Filipino dish either. You don't think roasting pig is stricltly Filipino right? Carribeans do it, some places in Europre do it. I bet you Pacific Islanders do it too.

  • because Philippines is 7, 0107 islands and how much more during high tide; travellers can't fully grasp our food, culture and traditions. the food he featured is not even enough to reflect our country and because it's an island nation our geographic location is challenging to cover everything they need to know. this is what makes us unique.food reflects our history!

  • yeah but you wouldn't want him to show extremely bizarre foods from the Philippines that would actually scare and stray away tourists/travelers right? You want him to show bizaare foods that are just enough to get curiousity arise...and those extreme ones, just let them find out on their own.

  • The worm that the native Filipino man eats at 5:10 looks so much bigger than the worm that Zimmern eats. It's high in Omega 3 fatty acids so its good for the heart and vascular health.

  • what is it called?

  • ok, enough of this homophobic shit fuckers. jjredicksmeat...ENOUGH!!! Your words are sooooo CHILDISH!!! grow the fuck up and stop being such a stupid ignorant motherfucker!! BTW...I'm a "dyke" not a bitch and i eat meat and will try just about anything that he is eating...cathytreks,stop commenting on this site and make yourself useful somewhere else!

NOT the place to start ranting and raving...

  • woot! I love the Philippines...especially if you live in the province...oh yeah so much fun =D

    thanks for uploading ^^

  • that is crazy i cant eat that if i would i might get sick o.o that is bs for me to eat hahaha to insane for me to eat but some Philippines are good

  • gummy worms...hahah...i dont know if i have the guts to try it out.

  • u see alot of tourists in the philippines sumtimes as u walk around.

  • in response to xenocentricism post

  • delishoes! (shocked face) im sure it is...

    The Philippine Islands is fantastic.

  • im homesick :(

  • I commend Andrew for his courage, or rather his stomach. I don't think I have the guts to try half of the stuff he's tried....and i'm Asian myself. Damn, I'm not even familiar with most of the food they showcased.

  • Salamat DerfMik. My girlfiend said watching made her sad and homsesick. I learned a lot.

  • Thanks for sharing these videos.

  • lol andrew's face @ 4:38. And the filipino guy's like "dalishus"

  • he has the best job ever

  • Yeah. I can't decide between him and anthony bourdain. I probably would go Bordain as he likes to drink and party while trying almost any food. They are both awesome and better than any of the prissy Food Network cast.

  • god i hate the food network.....expecially bobby flay.....what a faggot....

  • i think i wanna try the worms...

  • swallow it directly..hence the worm's head will get stuck in bet. your teeth and throat..hmm

  • My mother was lived in the mountain province of Kadaclan, and because of the scarcity of money in that area, some families were forced to eat their livestock. My mother didn't realize that she had just eaten her beloved dog until she went to feed her the dog with its own bones. Her parents finally told her it was her dog. No lie. I was terrifed that my mom would eat my dog if I left the house. lol

  • i LOVE baluts, never tryed the worms but after watchin this vid i feel like eating one right now =P

  • lol the waves look fun :]

  • i agree with you the waves do look fun. =)

  • i didnt know that pilipino eat dogs, i'am pilipina and im not aware of that..

  • It's been long banned to eat dogs in the phils. Chinese people still do eat dogs, cats and I heard monkey brain too.Correct me if I'm wrong;)

  • Only some provinces of China...btw dog eating is from korea....but you can say that all asians eat unusual

  • i'd say every country, not just asian countries, have its share of unusual foods, including America.

  • i wouldnt eat a dog, im asian but not korean. i like dogs as pets but NEVER for eating lol never knew it was koreans who invented it

  • well i eat dog but ive got pet dogs too. i just dont like to eatthem coz their like family.

  • that underground river was featured in metro UK last week..

  • Good Grief, those mangrove worms are even more disgusting looking than those Ook. I'd never heard of Pilipinos eating them. Andrew just swallowed those worms, didn't even chew it, now wonder he didn't taste all the texture.. yukk...

I do know one thing that beat Andrew. He actually vomitted it, is the Firmented Tufu in Taiwan. You should watch it. lol.

Bizzare foods indeed. Balut, snails.. i can handle but no worms for me.

  • because fermented tofu tastes like manures..! like feces!! like sh*ts..!!!!

  • how did you know the taste of manure & feces?

I was not aware that baboons eat excrement.

  • therefore i conclude I'm not a baboon. haha

  • I want to go there....looks so nice.

  • Im love the Fils food, but i just cant magage balut. Tried it a couple of time and then the 3rd time it was over-developed and the eyes were looking back at me.....

  • lol

  • One of my favorite Bizarre Foods episodes. Thanks for uploading.

  • great video!!

    salamat!!

  • I wish he ate dog. It was one of my favorite in the Philippines.

  • Ive never known we ate worms back in the philippines. Its kinda intresting knowing that now. but not all majority of filipinos eat that stuff

  • the best jollibees are the ones in the philippines.

  • Andrew is made of AWESOME!!! i would sooo be willing to try everything he just had! i already eat some of them. ^.^

  • respect earned! cant wait to go back to my country.

  • man...i can eat almost everything from bizzare foods philippines 1-6 except for worms :D

  • even in here in vegas jollibee sucks..thats y i always eat at aj bibingkahan,,they got caderetang kambeng..hehehe

  • what? you got jolibbeee in vegas?

  • aj? or dj? lol...i love eating there.

  • i know i eat there too its good especially the palabok hahaha

  • you should try those foods nyahaha... i dont even try those... its not just that we dont have much food to eat this shows the filipino culture, so stop commenting stupid words, you just dont know how lucky we are being a filipino..
