I really don't like the polypropylene trays and mesh. I just simply don't trust the material. Is there a good quality dehydrator that has stainless steel trays? Thank you.
Threw discountjuicers I ordered on the 16th of October the Sedona, I had it by the 19th, which was wonderful.
BUT,.. By the 29th of October ( 11 days later ) the heating unit went, and now I'm dealing with the company to try and get it replaced. The company tribest wants me to ship it back for repairs, then they'll send it back to me when they're done. Wow, and all this in the peek of veggie drying season. I'M NOT REAL HAPPY !!!!!
I apologize for the problems that occurred with the Sedona. The best thing to do is follow the warranty procedures of tribest to get the machine back asap. Defects with the Sedona have been rare, but when they do occur, its not fun for anyone. I hope Tribest got the situation resolved to your satisfaction and you are again up and dehydrating.
If I didnt sell the units and was a consumer, I would go with the excalibur, due to the longer warranty, and lower price point. Of course, the Sedona offers some unique features and other "bells and whistles" that some people may be willing to pay extra for. I tend to be fairly thrify in life.
John, I have read one really bad review about the Sedona dehydrator on amazon. Now that some time has passed, what are people saying about Excalibur vs Sedona?
Of all the customers we have sold sedona's to, I have head less than a handful of complaints so far. I havent heard anything else than that. So I would guess more people are satisfied with it.
hi John . how low will the temperature go . i like to stay under 115 degrees . i have a nesco 5 tray which works fine but i want to upgrade . i've heard some horror stories about the excalibur and the fuse and bad customer support . thx .good video !
Thanks for the comparison. What is the minimum temperature setting on the Sedona? It looks like it is a great quality dehydrator with it's extra features. Does anyone want to buy a gently used Excalibur? ;)
So come on then John!! You've had 4 months to review which is the best one to purchase (which would you buy??) .....I need your HELP please!!.... i'm on the verge of buying my first dehydrator i'm in the uk so i'm new to this.... i really like the Sedona it looks more classier than the excalibur but looks arn't everything, but i did hear that the excalibur has a fan problem even in the newer model which one should i purchase i don't want to buy a white elephant Kind Regards Tracey
This is extremely helpful, thanks! This is still such a new product that it's been difficult to find any reviews, nevermind comparisons to the Excalibur. The Sedona is more expensive, but it sounds like it's a much more functional, well-buit and quiet unit.
Would I be able to make raw crackers by pouring a blended mix directly on top of the included plastic mesh inserts, or would I need to purchase separate wax paper type "cookie sheet" inserts to place on top of the mesh?
Thanks for the info. I might get a Sedona just because of the quieter operation. Thanks for all the great information videos for juicers and Gardening! I'm growing greens in my back yard now and juicing them fresh with the Omega juicer that I bought from you. Fresh broccoli leaf, cilantro, Swiss chard, and italian parsley juice all from my back yard! I'm increasing my garden size with raised beds at this time and I will respond with some videos soon. Thanks again!
John, Is the Sedona as noisy as the Excalibur? I have the 9 tray Excalibur and it seems noisy and rattles to much for me to leave on in the kitchen all day. I will buy the Sedona if it makes a little less noise. Thanks, James
In my testing the Sedona is quietier than the Excalibur. How much? Tough to say exactly. I would estimate "about" half as loud. Its fairly quiet, and has no rattling.
FINALLY a decent consumer dehydrator! I was ready to build my own dehydrator since I don't like the excalibur (which is also very expensive considering how cheap and easy it is to make). But now I won't need to since the Sedona has most of the features I was planning on putting into mine. Awesome!
Its my front yard. I encourage everyone to grow a portion of their own food in their front or back yard. Its more nutritious and tastes better. Do a youtube search for growingyourgreens to find my youtube channel where I teach people about growing their own food.
Last night I sat down to buy the excalibur and I noticed you had the sedona on your site, and I was going to email you asking about when you were going to do a video, then I woke up this morning and here's the video!
Thanks. This helps me a lot. It's a little pricier but if it lasts me a while, the money is worth it.

Looks like a lot more can go wrong with the Sedona and expensive to repair. The Excalibur is a simple easy to repair time tested design.

@rawfoods "Of all the customers we have sold sedona's to, I have head less than a handful of complaints so far."
What types of complaints have you had for the Sedona?
thisisaguy 4 months ago
1. Heating element not working
2. Temperature regulation was too low (this has been corrected by re-programming in all current models of the sedona)

Pushing is better, as heat is not good for the fan itself. As for efficiency of heating itself, no real difference.

Does the sedona or excalbur get hot to the touch on the sides. I want to put it on my boat.
ericvid 10 months ago
The excalibur gets "warmer" to the touch on the outside. I would not say it gets "hot". The Sedona is a bit more "insulated" in this way.
