Its really bad to see the kids like that. I was born in Odessa. I kinda know how things work there. For instance, most bad and shady people come out at night while some come out at day. You can see alot of homeless cats and dogs there, more then kids. Last year when I visited my family there, I walked past this old woman who had blue lips, and was holding a cup in her hand. I didnt have any money on me. But I did find a dime close by so I gave it to her. I kind of remembered her words.
one day, every tear will be dried and every heart that has been broken will be mended. But until that day comes all we can do is pray, and help in anyway we can.
This is so horrible. I don't think a government needs that much money, more than just the good will of ordinary people. It is terrible to see that children actually live like this throughout Ukraine and Russla. I hope that if there comes a day when Ukraine will join the EU, they will get the humanitarian help that these children need.
It's a justly damning reflection on humanity people don't want to help: Local Government Agencies can appoint Outreach Workers to help these kids and gain their trust. These children are our future.

With sponsorship, communities improve-ex: putting in sewer systems, helping families, so that quite a lot of kids who are street kids actually return to their villages b/c things are looking up.
There's nothing like going to the country to help. However, the next best thing is to sponsor a child from Christian Children's Fund or World Vision. I've done this for a few yrs with 2 kids. I like CCF b/c they don't try to Christianize the kids, 1 of the kids I sponsor is Muslim. Your monthly sponsorship goes into a pool of money that is used for all the kids in the community, mostly for health and education. This prevents kids from becoming street kids which is a BIG thing you wanna focus on
It's shattering to see these kids in such dreadful circumstances and in Europe in this day and age. Ukraine isn't (well wasn't 'til recently) entirely skint. Loads of money is being made by the few and siphoned off the country, mainly thanks to dodgy politicians. Even the EU recently told the inept trio to pull their finger out and get the place in order.

I was one of them, I was sleeping in the exactly same places, was getting high on glue and other dgrugs (shirka, himiya). I didn't sleep home for months. I've been to Odessa and visited a drop in center for street kids. Part of the problem is that the local authority refuse to admit there is a problem and that there are no more than 2000 living on the streets (as if that isn't a problem!) Most people working with the kids estimate that the number is at least 10,000. Dran to Odessa by the good climate from all over Ukraine. Many are addicted to glue or solvents as it's a cheap 'high'. Organisations like Worldvision do a fabulous job.
and that idiots still spend some percents of their yealy budget for such unnecessary things like army instead of pushing up the social system.........
They live far from this hellhole, I'll tell you that. I plan on getting a wife from there too, but you have to be careful, a lot of them have AIDS. If that asshole Donald Trump could do it, then you and I can get wives from there too (although I think his wife is Romanian).
Young girls (14-18) often are recruited to night clubs and brothels, a sad percentage are sold to countries like Turkey, Albania or even Greece and Italy where they are forced to service 20 or more men a day. Some go by choice, but what kind of choice is that? Very sad... I've been in Odessa many times, Kiev, Lviv and Kharkov too. In October I'll go and volunteer wherever I'm admitted... if you don't think you can make a difference, add all our 1 days of help together, and it DOES make one!

I was one of them, I was sleeping in the exactly same places, was getting high on glue and other dgrugs (shirka, himiya). I didn't sleep home for months. But by God's mercy I am blessed beyoned any imagination nonw. I'm married got kids, house, several cars etc. So give them a chance. God be merciful to them and help us to help them.

I've been to Odessa and visited a drop in center for street kids. Part of the problem is that the local authority refuse to admit there is a problem and that there are no more than 2000 living on the streets (as if that isn't a problem!) Most people working with the kids estimate that the number is at least 10,000. Dran to Odessa by the good climate from all over Ukraine. Many are addicted to glue or solvents as it's a cheap 'high'. Organisations like Worldvision do a fabulous job.

Young girls (14-18) often are recruited to night clubs and brothels, a sad percentage are sold to countries like Turkey, Albania or even Greece and Italy where they are forced to service 20 or more men a day. Some go by choice, but what kind of choice is that? Very sad... I've been in Odessa many times, Kiev, Lviv and Kharkov too. In October I'll go and volunteer wherever I'm admitted... if you don't think you can make a difference, add all our 1 days of help together, and it DOES make one!

I am from Lviv, Ukraine, but i haven't been back for 4 years now.
It was not soo bad..it's safe to walk the streets as long as your where other people are no one is gonna come right out and shoot you. We are a civilized people! But i would say now would not be the best time to go. There must unrest with politics, russian pressure, and the such.
In general be where other non-shady people are and you should be fine. Also dont wear expensive denim.
