@TheAmazinganime Hei. I am in Finland now :) I think you didn't like the word "alien" that I used. I meant it in good spirits. By alien I just meant something someone might be completely unaware of. Of course Finns are not aliens. They are honest and helping people :)
Also that might sound interesting to you that Finnish Immigration has an "Alien Act"... in all the visa, immigration and other texts refer to "foreigners" as "aliens"!!! really!!
Thank you so much Sulkasiipi. I might be going to Finland in August. I was very freaked out at the thought of learning an alien language. Your vidoes are helping me a lot.
@Suttapillu Finnish is NOT an alien language! It isn't even hard to learn!!! Well, maybe I can't say that since I'm from Finland but still. WE ARE NOT ALIENS, YA KNOW!!!
It's any more complicated than saying aloud any other languages. Once you know yhdeksän = 9, you know it. The Finnish counting system used to have the -toista system up to more numbers. So 24 was neljäskolmatta, or fourth of third. The system nowadays has only 11 to 19 to deal with in that ancient way. English and most Germanic languages have eleven and twelve, which makes no sense at all in a decimal system. Tentyone, tentytwo, etc. that would make sense. At least Finnish keeps it up to 20.
those bouth are fine and 100 101 ... goes like 100=sata esim 124=satakaksikymmentäneljä =D and more hunreds are like 200=kaksisataa 300=kolmesataa do you get it i hope so.

aila1991 1 year ago
@aila1991
("Piste" = "." = dot. Which can be replaced with "Pilkku" = "," = comma)
12.50 = Kaksikymmentä ja puoli (<-Always "ja puoli" like in english "and a half"). Or kaksitoista-piste-viisi
24.99 = Kaksikymmentäneljä-piste-yhdeksänkymmentäyhdeksän
24.99 = (2nd. way) Kaksikymmentäneljä-piste-ysiysi

I find these videos very helpful for pronunciation, (especially Y and thedifferent 'a's)

The beep was brilliant! You should beep more often. Finnish sounds a bit like 'Tengwar' the fictional elven language of JRR Tolkiens books on middle earth. I know he was a great researcher of various languages, maybe he drew inspiration from Finnish. Olen kahdeksantoista ^_^

You're right! JRR Tolkien was inspired of Finnish when he created his languages :)
