im trying to hide the plane under the model infront of the background, but if i do so there won't be any shadow left, how do u still show shadow while the plane is not visible
@dasdasdus there probably is, but this is complicated shit. unless you have a lot of experience with 3d modeling, a tutorial probably wouldn't make any sense.
could you pleeeasseee do a tutorial on this? I dont have trouble tracking the footage or creating the 3D assets, but its merging the two that never seems to go right for me
How do you track the footage that camera is moving in it so fast? like the second bit. There's no tracking point to track so how can you track the road and create the 3D camera? Do you use Boujou or Matchmover? (Thanks for help)
I want to know ... how did remove the side road closed work area in 0:10 on the right. It doesn't appear in the rendered version. Masking ? how did u replace it then ?
That is cool and I am getting into 3d tracking myself with voodoo. In response to sonicballer cgi is good, but nothing compares to a real explosion, a real car crash or a stunt man actually jumping off a building.
hi, can i ask, how did you do that lolz? and what software u used for the tracking, and how the heck u made it so realistic ^_^... student from university here, i need to know :)... hehehe ty man
the modeling is perfect, but the texturing is a little off. I would use either a normal pass in after effects with normality (if you have it) or use a texture for the diffuse. it would be great if you use a few cameras to capture the reflections one (pointed left and one pointed right depending on where the object is).
Also, the textures look a little... dull. Cars (typically) have pretty strong colors and, well, those don't.
does anyone know of any free programs for motion tracking, or any free programs that allow to import 3d objects and edit videos, like after effects, except free???
Hi how you do masking objects in 3dsmax? For example: I've got footage of running guy and in 3dsmax would like to make explosion behind him.How do i mask just that guy?Is there any tutorial?
@anglani1 well actuly you can mask using the alpha channel. first u have to render it as a png sequence and then in aae you must import it as PNG sequence, if u look in my latest video it will give you a great example
@anglani1 yea you can use software like Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas, and to do the blowing up effect it would be easiest to use a greenscreen
here's a million $ question, can anyone tell me wtf happened to the road construction that was on the right in original video when the final video was made?
I like it great model great lighting good shadows good composite the one tiny thing i would suggest is to make a reflection a small one so that its kin of mirrored. other wise 5-5
they want to make it realistic, and most of those cars used in hollywood and old cars not in use that have all the important parts taken out of them. so it's mostly frame and shell.
@sonicballer8888 because cgi is great but will never be so great as real life.. and the most directors love to do real things cgi will only be used if things can't be done in real like jurrasic park.. or like 2012 like the world is going to die... then there will be cgi.. to much cgi is not nice to look at because people can see that it is cgi..
@joevictor53 umm computer graphics become better ever year and they do a good job making it photo realistic but I am working every day with cg.. and I think if u work everyday with it u know that it is cgi.. because of the animation.. it's to smooth but like I said the programs and the animation will be better every year so maybe over 10 years we will have great cg movies..
@sonicballer8888 because "'this" also isn't cheap... it takes a lot more time to model and render a 3D car crash into a scene than actually doing it. And you achieve a much better look from doing the actual stunt.
ya, as mentioned, the shadow for the cars are a tad blurry and look slightly different than other objects in the scene. other then that, it's good man, good stuff X)
Looked good. The lighting was pretty on. The impact wasn't too good though. There was no debris, no dust, nothing. It was like two solid plastic pieces bumping together on a table.

You can't do that in MAX. You have to use something like After Effects or similar software.
