PRC and USSR had serious issues with each other by 1969. Mao put his people under nuclear alert via misinformation from KGB to CIA, then to Mao. Red Chinas nuclear program was instigated more by a tangible threat from Moscow rather than the US. PRC believed the Soviets had become nationalists more than international communists. They were correct, but Mao wanted a nuclear war with the West. Nice guys those communists.

Nikita Khrushchev (Soviet leader 1955-1964) liked the USA and started a releation ship with the USA. but around 1960 the USA used a spyplane in Soviet territory witch made nikita angry and put mid range nuclear missiles in cuba. than USA feld threaten and was almost invading cuba witch will lead the world in a nuclear war. than the soviet/US propaganda came hating each other and not trusting each other again untill somewhere around 1989.

Truthfully the cold war began with the Munich Conference when Stalin said "I Know" when Truman said he had a secret weapon of massive power.

technically, and don't take this the wrong way, but there really weren't too many 'wars' involving communism. and i mean that saying that the korean war didn't especially turn out how we wanted. yes, we stopped the spread of it to the south, but we didn't actually contain and destroy it throughout the war. vietnam war...we didn't really win. i'm just saying that instead of destroying communism, we mainly made a point that it isn't right. and with new leaders in power, they were able to see that

Like when the USA left Iran in 1979. The soviets invaded neighboring Afghanistan the next year later in 1980.
