@unlikeanyotherhuman Just "rediscovered" this tune again, and it reminds me of my childhood.....which for some reason makes me kind of sad - back then so innocent, so free. Lovely version, and I too keep replaying it over and over.....
Sans doute la meilleure série TV des 70's.....Le doublage en Français renforce incontestablement le mythe..........et, la Dino Ferrari me fait toujours autant envie...
Very impressed with your remake. I am a huge John Barry fan but found this modern remake to be very very soothing and I keep playing it over and over again... Should have gone to bed an hour ago.. But the tune is worth the loss of sleep. Nice job
Is it better than the original? Well it's very good, but it wasn't written from scratch like the original, and that makes ALL the difference in my veiw.
Amazing how time goes by. I watched the series a long time ago, and now the music and the theme is taking me back to the good old days. Thanks Curtis&Moore, for some wonderful memories and of course whoever composed this beautiul theme song.
Fell in love with this tune in its original version but must say this is well done. Hunted for years on the internet and found it at SoundAmerica which had hordes of themes from my past. Thanks to YouTube I can get my fix anytime. Many thanks.
sorry, I was a teen when tryed to record this soundtrek whit my tape recorder (Christamas gift)... know only the J. Berry version... I love the original version.
Of course, nothing can be compared to a score written by the one and only John Barry...
by the way, it sounds like Barry, when writing for the Persuaders, was influenced by music written for the the Godfather film(s) which were popular at that time...
I have to agree -- that heavy bass line is a critical element. However, this would make for a good incidental arrangement for a 'stealthier' moment -- when the bass would get in the way.
dkfelix: Unlike a lot of shoot-em-up, hard fisted detectives and such that filled the airwaves, the "Persuaders" used finesse, deceptions, cons, etc., to perform their assignments. Both leads were rich playboys with empty lives, and were recruited for difficult "missions impossible" around the world. Little violence and a lot of cleverness made it a very entertaining show.
- yes very entertaining- I used to watch it on Danish TV in the mid-70ies as a 12 year old child and they did a long awaited rerun some years ago. Now you can se them on German TV (with dubbed German voices though.)
Danny Wilde made me wear black gloves made of some kind of plastic that looked like leather indoors.
Oh - I don`t know markrpadmore, It`s growing on me ! I rememer seeing the original series - being an old git. How on earth have you arrived at this site - theme tune to The Persuaders ? Taste, I guess. Good on you !
I agree with dlmiss. You'll never beat the original. By far and away the best theme music I've ever heard. Strangely enough the composer, John Barry was dismissive of this. At the time he didn't think it was much of a piece as music goes. How wrong you can be sometimes. Brilliant theme.
I agree, very cool show ,I watch very little T.V these days, too busy collecting my favourite shows from the 60's,70's & a little bit of the 80's.I recently bought the U.F.O series, was very popular here in Australia.Peace to you.
nice mix but I think you could have been more inventive with the drumming - ie more fillers to the bar rather than straight 4/4 tempo - otherwise great
This is excellent job. I love it just as I loved the original. You have certainly brought the rich synth sounds which seem to have been locked away in the 70s. Good job and thanks for bringing back memories from a bygone period of my life.
I did a cover of it twenty years ago...never released.but here hummmmnot so bad but it can be really better. Specially the arrangment . John barry was somebody that had a BIG talent for the instrumentation and the secret of the magyu was there.try again ...please.
The arrangement and the tempo of this track are EXACTLY the same as the original. It's the single version and not the TV theme version. If you did a cover of it then put up or shut up and let's hear it and we'll see who's holds up to scrutiny. Phew! Everybody's a critic.
try again i said ...maybe with more maneers to defend ur point of view. All right i'll look for this old versions done with the twenty years ago technology .recorded on a portable 4 tracks....but i never said that mine is better than ur but definitely done with more risks.
This IS the problem, it is exactly the same arrangment that u did, but the magy of the instrumentation is not there. And i know that it's difficult to do what J barry did.But u choose to bring voices samples so why dont y try to go farder in other ways.... stay cool boabyp and continue to work. I'll look for this cover. i don't want to argue with a persuader fan cause i'm one also. Peace
Not bad -- and I am very particular when it comes to rearranging classic music -- trying to make it fresh while not completely destroying the original is NOT easy. (Check out the 'new' version of "The Chipmunk Song" for an example of THAT.)
One 'complaint' -- there is a very definite music cue as to where "The Persuaders!" logo appears -- that was missed, but otherwise -- it FEELS pretty good.
the true mix doesn't come over very well when the sound is compressed down for youtube. The bass on the original is more pronounced and the drums aren't quite so isolated. But thanks for the feedback.
i prefer the original however a very good version somewhat sharper if they ever do a remake i hope they keep the theme and not ruin it like randal and hopkirk
