Very best idea! Just went to the Mannheim concert ( 18.07.2011). Quality of the sound is top 10. The orchestra solists and the female singer (did not want to say the background singer because she was way to good :), were amazing. Everything is completed and balanced out. I had a great time. Thank you very much, Sting. WE LOVE YOU :)
I've always been a fan of the early Police & followed the career of each of the three members of the band after they split. Yo! Sting check out my songs at youtube/Andy7Richmond ( You'll see the influence you had on me when i was 14yrs old living in Brasil where i was born in 1967 to Irish Immigrants but due 2 lack of finance etc.. i came to live in the UK in 1986 & against my better judgement have stayed & toured around Europe & Africa doing voluntary jobs in places such as Tanzania. Andy Rich
Saw his performance last night... first 4-5 songs were terrible... the orchestra, band and Sting were all out of harmony, swallowing notes... i thought that the concert will be a disaster... but then they all seemed to readjust to the new setup and the rest of the concert was amazing. really enjoyed it.
screw you sting..i m a big fan of your music but thats it enough we re starting to boring your old stuff as always you continue your concerts again and again but please you re a biggest musician in our time and you can create new amazing stuff..!!!
Sting and Gustavo Cerati are music soul mates, they have been hand in hand without even being aware of it, I am not aware if they ever met or know about each other's music work, they have been a gift for humanity, either of them!!!
Sting y gustavo Cerati son almas musicales gemelas, han ido de la mano sin siquiera saberlo, no se si se conocen o conocen lo que hacen, han sido un regalo para la humanidad, ambos!!!
Oh no ! Sting is a brilliant musician with 200 zillion in the bank if the guy can't sit still why does he not get his old Fender Jazz Bass out the attic and form a shit hot sleazy jazz combo playing small clubs around the universe and pull a bit of cred back along the way...............I dunno Gordon !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sting is beyond talented. This is PHENOMENAL. Full orchestra backing him is spectacular. I new he would do this at some point in his life. So glad it is now. LOVE this.
I love Sting - have seen every tour since Nothing Like the Sun - multiple times on most occassions. However, I am starting to find it amusing how everytime he starts a new project, it is always suggested to him by somebody else. The lute project, the winter record and now the symphonic project - all initiated by somebody else? Well Sting, if you are reading this (yeah right) I suggest you take a nylon string classical guitar and go on a one tour in very intimate settings. That would be great.
My fiance and I attended the Portland, OR June 4th concert, second one on the tour, and we found it to be amazing!!! It was the best concert we have been to. Wait until you hear the new arrangement of Roxanne and King of Pain. If you can go to this and do not, then you are a fool. He is an incredible storyteller as well as musician. The concert is well worth the time and money.
Sting is simply exploiting the John Tesh audience. Bottom line: who cut Elvis' balls off? The strings are just busy, not challenged. If you're fooled by textural redundancy, you'll love it. If you're bald and saddled with a mortgage, if you check your stock porfolio every half hour in between the 3rd and 4rth hole. you'll feel hip with the wife you're utterly bored with. you're not hip and neither is Stink.
@budracin8guy07 I agree with cobalt jones. Sting sounds like a douche bag. I am a fan of the Police and of the real Sting. I don't know what got into him with this tour. Sting needs to get rid of the Yes Men that surround him and let him know that he sounds bad. To his benefit he is still selling out and making money because of his name.
Saw the show in Portland last night and it was absolutely stunning. The sound out of the orchestra is rich and complex. The songs are given new texture and meaning through the orchestral arrangements. Sting's voice has never been in finer form. Everyone was blown away - 3 encores, 3 hours, we didn't want to let him leave. Amazing experience.
I am trying to like Sting's performance with this orchestra. It is not happening though. The orchestra takes the entire power out of his music. It sounds like Sting is trying to sing with the same power as a rock band but has a weak sound behind him. Sting is a great bass player and it is a shame he is not playing.
This is embarrassing. But, the funny part is "ball hairs are being shredded everywhere".
