Ever wonder what scores Ebay itself would get from its users if they had a venue to actually rate the company, similar to the way those users get rated in the Ebay DSR system? Go to rateebay and notice that Ebay scores a 6.7 (out of 100) accross a broad spectrum of parameters including customer service, fee structure, overall experience, etc. On a 5 star system they average about 1 and a half stars. A score of less than 4.8 stars gets a user kicked off of Ebay.
I've said it once and I'll say it again- IF and WHEN a viable alternative to eBay comes along, when ONE site is chosen by all the displaced sellers (rather than 20 sites), Ebay will become an online ghost town overnight because the exodus will be so massive and complete that there will be no undoing it, no rebuilding it. Soon thereafter the share price will drop like a rock and investors will bail. Conditions are ripe for a new alternative to Ebay to emerge which appreciates its sellers.
I used to make my living off ebay with my artworks ... their idiotic 2008 changes ruined that and I was forced to get into credit card debt after that because I had to get by ... Ebay Sucks , I bought some xbox 360 games and the seller sent them to my house in Florida 1 week after I made payment , i sent him messages and he did not answer anyone. Then the videogames arrived to my house , the seller did not say anything about why shipping was so slow . Ebay Sucks !! Oh and by the way 1 game he sent was scratch.

Ebay programaticly suspends ebay user accounts and freezes paypal funds while researching issues. Paypal (ebay owns 20% of Paypal) funds are frozen for around 21 days with Paypal and Ebay earning interest. Ebay offers no telephone support.

True, and I would actually say that $17 is HIGH for this stock. It's being driven up by hopefuls that believe some of Ebay's acquisitions such as Paypal and Stubhub will carry it, but that's like hoping that GM would be successful because it owned SAAB or Hummer. I sued paypal in NYC small claims for 4100 and won and got a check. They did try to threaten me and i laughed it off. If you have paypal issue, sue them, you will win and they will call you and threaten you with bogus claims and counter suits, its all to scare you, its easy to sue them do it, and dont believe them when they press you to drop, once u drop ur done
this i think as well, we need another couple of website auctions to take ebay down a step or two. smaller sellers are getting put off from running a basic shop, im one of them, my fees have doubled plus insertion fees/picture fees are crazy money. i only sell my own items that i had lying around so why should we people who dont sell much at all get slapped with silly fees. its not worth it, well done ebay youve lost another seller, keep it up, and youl be going under, silly fat cats.

If you really want to hurt ebay then start getting your customers to visit some of thes other auction sites. Bonanzle is a great site that im telling my sellers about. The fact that we, as sellers, already take a hit in the final value fee from eBay & then ALSO take a hit from PayPal is 100% bogus. There should be ONE fee if any at all. PayPal takes the biggest chunk & after all is said & done you never see the actual amount the person paid for the item & then some, you're lucky if you see half of it. It's a farce & maybe some day ebay will be caught on this & moderated reasonably because they're screwing over their sellers.
Im a seller in ebay and locally and what i have seen from paypal fees and holding the money until the person leaves a positive feedback it is annoying to any sellers buy makes me feel saver as a buyer.
What kills me is this trying to forced Ebay sellers to use Paypal for all their transactions. In australia the gov. and the people shot it down. In England Ebay doesnt force their users to accept only Paypal, then why are they doing it here. Ebay squeezes your tit until it turns purple and they still want more. ebays new policy, well paypal's they have a 21 day hold on your paypal funds if you sell something. saying you have to send it quickly and you get paid if:
1. the buyer leaves a positive feedback
2. ups tracking shows they recieved it
if they file a grievance or chargeback you could still be out the money that you were promised. paypal will negative your account. i just sold a laptop on ebay and now i have the 21 day hold. I dont evne have the money to ship the dang thing. Its a bunch of BS
The same thing happened to me. My paypaland bank account was at a $0 balance with $10 in the bank when I received a payment from a customer and they held the entire ammount including shipping so there was no way to ship the item since the shipping cost more then I had and the customer had already paid for shipping. What else am I supposed to do? maybe they should have renamed it to idiotbay.

Ebay is forcing their sellers to use their online bank Paypal for transactions. The thing is since Ebay owns Paypal, they get on top of all their various other fees, a fee for using this service. That a a slew of other chances have ruined sellers on Ebay.

Many EBAYERS that are still using ebay, can ALSO check out where many are going and selling while they are still selling with ebay, as some not able or ready to close ebay account. you can ALSO sell on bonanzle, atomic Mall, etsy, blujay, and many more, most with little or NO FEES and PAYPAL not "REQUIRED". ALSO, you can transfer your feedbacks from ebay to show in these others you may be using, as many are now moving to these and have stopped ebay completely.

Ebay has corrected some things, like dsrs now can go to 4.1, not 4.3. And they're making talk about making buyers accountable. Maybe they'll continue.

Ebay is purposefully driving away their auction traffic. Big mistake. They want to be more like Amazon, but Amazon's way ahead of them at what Amazon does. Folks at Amazon like Amazon. NOBODY likes Ebay anymore. If Ebay does not change its policies back and completely boot out the idiot management soon, irreversable damage will be done. They have, just this year, lost tens of thousands of good sellers and it's already getting tough to find the unique auction stuff Ebay was once known for.

With all the changes (including the recent announced fee changes), all I can say is there are other options than greedbay - eBid being my one of choice. No listing fee's, a very small final value fee (no FVF if you dont use a thumbnail pic in the gallery), and a good feedback system. Plus you also have the option to use google checkout, PPPay or Paypal.
It's seems very few carry the load for the ebay dissenters. Where did they all go? Ebay is offending more and morer sellers, and even buyers with all the disputes and crazy rules. The S&B won't get help from ebay chat, they'll get suspended. There was a growing group here on Youtube, but they not here now! Did they give up? Very few doin' a poor job of it. Many sellers look without comment, they need information. Where else can they go? OLA . COM? Where's the helpers?

I worked for eBay from 99 to 05 and I have to say they really lost their focus after the Skype deal.They really forgot what they did better then anyone and that was bring people together. The feedback system needed some tinkering, but now they really went a little overboard.. What is really helping eBay right now is PayPal. That is really the only growth instrument they have going well for them at this time.

If you have less than 100 feedback in your profile, Paypal (an ebay company) will hold the funds until the seller leave you a positive feedback or you can prove that the item has been delivered via delivery confirmation number

I've said it once and I'll say it again- IF and WHEN a viable alternative to eBay comes along, when ONE site is chosen by all the displaced sellers (rather than 20 sites), Ebay will become an online ghost town overnight because the exodus will be so massive and complete that there will be no undoing it, no rebuilding it. Soon thereafter the share price will drop like a rock and investors will bail. Conditions are ripe for a new alternative to Ebay to emerge which appreciates its sellers.

True, and I would actually say that $17 is HIGH for this stock. It's being driven up by hopefuls that believe some of Ebay's acquisitions such as Paypal and Stubhub will carry it, but that's like hoping that GM would be successful because it owned SAAB or Hummer. May be the case....but then again, perhaps they're afraid people WILL show up. Since Ebay Live 2008 in June, policies have gotten even worse towards sellers. I've cleared out my inventory and don't plan to be back - ever. And that's $3500-4000/yr Ebay will not be getting. And I'm just one of many Ebay considers a "Small Fry"- but enough of us make a big difference, as evidenced by Ebay's stock price and recent earnings reports.

I sued paypal in NYC small claims for 4100 and won and got a check. They did try to threaten me and i laughed it off. If you really want to hurt ebay then start getting your customers to visit some of thes other auction sites. Bonanzle is a great site that im telling my sellers about. They are only interested in the ebay shops that make them loads of money, not the little guy selling the odd CD or DVD. Its a bit like the world in general!

The fact that we, as sellers, already take a hit in the final value fee from eBay & then ALSO take a hit from PayPal is 100% bogus. There should be ONE fee if any at all. PayPal takes the biggest chunk & after all is said & done you never see the actual amount the person paid for the item & then some, you're lucky if you see half of it. It's a farce & maybe some day ebay will be caught on this & moderated reasonably because they're screwing over their sellers.

ebays new policy, well paypal's they have a 21 day hold on your paypal funds if you sell something. saying you have to send it quickly and you get paid if:
1. the buyer leaves a positive feedback
2. ups tracking shows they recieved it
if they file a grievance or chargeback you could still be out the money that you were promised. paypal will negative your account. i just sold a laptop on ebay and now i have the 21 day hold. I dont evne have the money to ship the dang thing. Its a bunch of BS

The same thing happened to me. My paypaland bank account was at a $0 balance with $10 in the bank when I received a payment from a customer and they held the entire ammount including shipping so there was no way to ship the item since the shipping cost more then I had and the customer had already paid for shipping. Ebay is forcing their sellers to use their online bank Paypal for transactions. The thing is since Ebay owns Paypal, they get on top of all their various other fees, a fee for using this service. That a a slew of other chances have ruined sellers on Ebay.

Many EBAYERS that are still using ebay, can ALSO check out where many are going and selling while they are still selling with ebay, as some not able or ready to close ebay account. you can ALSO sell on bonanzle, atomic Mall, etsy, blujay, and many more, most with little or NO FEES and PAYPAL not "REQUIRED". ALSO, you can transfer your feedbacks from ebay to show in these others you may be using, as many are now moving to these and have stopped ebay completely.

He then stood up and said DSRs don't matter anymore because he has powerseller accounts with thousands of ratings, but he can open a new account and outsell his powerseller account.

Take a look at Ebay stock. Even before the crash, it had tanked to 1/3 of the value it was a few years back. I wish I had the money to go to Chicago and say the things this brave man did, but I was discarded like the tens of thousands of others and was lucky to make the rent last month. Ebay is purposefully driving away their auction traffic. Big mistake. They want to be more like Amazon, but Amazon's way ahead of them at what Amazon does. Folks at Amazon like Amazon. NOBODY likes Ebay anymore. If Ebay does not change its policies back and completely boot out the idiot management soon, irreversable damage will be done. They have, just this year, lost tens of thousands of good sellers and it's already getting tough to find the unique auction stuff Ebay was once known for.

With all the changes (including the recent announced fee changes), all I can say is there are other options than greedbay - eBid being my one of choice. No listing fee's, a very small final value fee (no FVF if you dont use a thumbnail pic in the gallery), and a good feedback system. Plus you also have the option to use google checkout, PPPay or Paypal.
Let's make eBid the NEW best auction site.

It's seems very few carry the load for the ebay dissenters. Where did they all go? Ebay is offending more and morer sellers, and even buyers with all the disputes and crazy rules. The S&B won't get help from ebay chat, they'll get suspended. There was a growing group here on Youtube, but they not here now! Did they give up? Very few doin' a poor job of it. Many sellers look without comment, they need information. Where else can they go? OLA . COM? Where's the helpers?

When you sell on ebay, you work for ebay. You do not work for yourself. Its like any other job. Only the guys who purchase junk or otherwise in huge lots can survive. Everyone interested in participating in a free market should find another way to sell your unique goods. I say avoid ebay for the same reasons you should avoid walmart. Close them down!

If someone burned down your house, they'd be prosecuted & imprisoned, but on a whim Ebay's billionaire managers and a few of their smart ass employees can destroy your livelihood and cause you to lose your house, and they're invincible.
The only way to make Ebay accountable to the public is through federal action. Ebay must be broken up into several separate companies. Only when they lose their monopoly will the market function fairly for everyone.

I worked for eBay from 99 to 05 and I have to say they really lost their focus after the Skype deal.They really forgot what they did better then anyone and that was bring people together. The feedback system needed some tinkering, but now they really went a little overboard.. What is really helping eBay right now is PayPal. That is really the only growth instrument they have going well for them at this time.

If you have less than 100 feedback in your profile, Paypal (an ebay company) will hold the funds until the seller leave you a positive feedback or you can prove that the item has been delivered via delivery confirmation number

I just 8 balled a non paying bidder over a 99 cent last second snipe! Killed a buyer's account to save myself 15 cents relist. Had to do it to protect myself from negative feedback. Keep going until you are all the way dead Ebay. I have other options already in place and working.

Remember COMB (now QVC), Damark, and many other mail order catalogs that were clearing houses? Are such vendors taking over ebay! Will HSN use ebay to unload such inventory? S-Mart outlets? Ebay sales are going DOWN, WAY DOWN! I saw this thread in the FB forum in DG on Ebad, "Is anyone doing well selling on ebay?", many sellers are losing their shirts! Thank God Ebad is NOT the only internet advertiser! IF you don't get good results advertising in the classifieds, try something else! We do have alternatives to tell the buyers what we have to sell, and where we are! Remember that it was the sellers who made ebay what it WAS. And they're leaving EBAD! less sellers = less BUYERS!
