This game made me cry on about 4 different occasions. And I'm a guy. Mind you... I was like 15 the last time I played it... this makes me want to play it again.
After I played this from my ps1, my ps1 didn't work so I was like AAAAH! NOOOO and then I bought it for my psp ( I don't have a ps2 for the original ff9 to work on the ps2 ) to play but my mom didn't allow it so I have to wait for the game to come out of the Ps3 store thing and after I downloaded and played it, Finally after 3 years of waiting, everyday is a good day because I can play FF9 whenever I want ;)

I hope that this game, along with some other titles from this period of gaming, will never be forgotten. They define everything what makes a good game; story, characters, gameplay. No matter how far the graphic evolution goes, those three factors will always be the core of a good game. Nowadays it seems like many developers have forgotten that. It's sad.
rather than materia/junctioning that allowed everybody to have the same abilities, and also that you keep changeing who you use throughout the story, rather than just picking 3 people and sticking with them.
I'm wacthing through XIII now (since I don't have a PS3 to play it on), but I can easily say this: It doesn't come anywhere close to FF9.
The first 9 Final Fantasys were easily the best ones ever made, and then 7 8 and 9 were just in a league of their own, with 9 easily standing at the top XDD
I particuarly like how they went back to 6's system, where each character had a unique ability right from the start that couldn't be changed,

Truly one masterpiece. The characters, the story, the music, the graphics... you name it. Forever to be remembered as one of the most beautiful games for the PS1. All its predecesors, and the succesors are as good, but none can convey the sweet fairytale-like story, together with its happily ever after ending. FF6 is the darkest, FF7 the cruelest, FF10 the saddest. Bu FF9 is the perfect balance of all what makes FF the King. Long live the Fantasy.
Well, I think FFXIII was pretty good, at least when you compare it to FFXII. It has a better story than XII, to say the least. The music is actually memorable, too.

True. What's so great is that you didn't even need voices to convey the emotions. The characters actions spoke for itself. For example when Garnet/Dagger hit Zidane, she was like saying 'You idiot! You had me so scared!. Zidane's gentle caress said 'Sorry to have worried you. I'll never leave you again'. A classic ending.
This is my favoritie FF game, and id have to say disk 1 is the best out of the 4, because you play as Tantalus (Blank is the most badass btw), and i just liked how it was just an adventure instead of all the other disks where the storyline gets all dark on you.
A way I can think of is to use psx Emulator to run the game, then capture the scene with some video recording programs. I don't own one anyway, just the idea. Hope that helps.

Well I just finished VII yesterday it only takes me a few days, hours, or a complete week or 2 to complete a game yes I beat games pretty fast the only game that took me a whoppin 3 years to complete would be Zelda ocarina of time I got to the Forest temple when I was 7 and it scared me alot (I know pathetic) and I beat the full game when I was 10 but almost 11 (15 now)
ff7, ff8, and ff9 were the best of the best. none even came close. i want them to start making ones like those again. =[ i miss it. i don't understand the whole "reality" and making things more realistic part of these newer video games... after all its called final FANTASY! i love the crazy mythical upside down lands and defying gravity and all physics.. wheres that in the newer final fantasy games?!?!?!?!

you can play ff9 on ps3, i just bought one and when i first tried it it wouldn't work, so i updated the ps3 through its own internet system. you should then be able to play ps1 games as i can. mind you it might depend on what gb ps3 you have. i have the 80gb.
This brings back memories, I remember when I heard this song, and near the end it created such an uplifting emotion inside of me, a great sense of satisfaction. FF9 is one of the greates RPG's that Ive ever experienced.

Seconded. It has amazing themes (the Beatirx themes are the best character themes I've every heard), fun mini games and a the story is stright forward but there are still LOADS of plot curve balls.

i agree with you musjay, i got a 360 with cod4, halo 3, oblivion, and dmc 4, but this game is 10 times better than any of that . i really wish they would make a damn sequel to this game.

This is a completely different game from the last one of FF serie: because this is a REAL fantasy, not FFXIII...

Same for me, I haven´t played it sence couple years ago and I really miss it, I think it´s the best Final Fantasy game ever, but have to say that FFXII is also very good, almost as good as IX, but the music is the best in IX!!

Seconded. It has amazing themes (the Beatirx themes are the best character themes I've every heard), fun mini games and a the story is stright forward but there are still LOADS of plot curve balls.

I just finished replaying this game few days ago. Still very nice, one of the best in FF. The best in character deepness.

This is the first FF I ever played, and it still is my favorite FF by far. I don't know of any other game that had such a great impact on me.

i think this is one of the most underrated FFs ever ... realy... imo it's the 2nd best after VI , however 9 is my fav since it's the 1st real RPG i've ever played!!

i agree with you musjay, i got a 360 with cod4, halo 3, oblivion, and dmc 4, but this game is 10 times better than any of that . i really wish they would make a damn sequel to this game.

I love it how Garnet begins just weaving cautiously through the crowd, but before long starts knocking people out the way.
