This is rather amazing. That monkey is much too fast though. Next they need to flash the numbers, then make the chimp wait five minutes before guessing the order. Next they could try making him wait a whole day. They need to up the reward though, like giving him a female chimp to play with if he gets it right. More importantly, can they teach a female chimp how to make a banana sandwich? Thousands of male chimps are waiting to know.

@GamingSho i think the big difference is that chimps are far simpler than us when it comes to what we worry about. That chimp wants and needs that food, and the human is getting nothing, however if you gave the human something that he needs and or extremly wants, he would do better too. But I still think that the monkeys have better photographic memory.

The reason they can is because all chimps have photographic memories. It was standard for us to have one, but our mind had to make room for our speech and communication(which is orders of magnitude more complex than a chimps).

Apes and Monkeys are very smart animals. I saw some monkeys that eat the carbon from human camp fires to sooth thier stomachs after eating some hard on the stomach plants. Even if they found this out by mistake or chance they still were smart enough to teach their troop which then passed it on to their babies its pretty amazing really.

You know how they do this right? They starve the chimps until they perfect these tests. Once they have done well on a test they feed the chimp. One thing i've learned is that animals and (humans too for that matter) can do anything in order to survive.
