Well Venom did knock down James Rhodes initially before he had donned the armor, and I'm pretty sure that a regular human being, even one in tip-top physical condition like Rhodey would have a hard enough time getting up after being hit by a man/symbiote capable of benchlift/pressing 20+ tons of weight.

going by the movie, war machine was sort of a prototype whereas iron man is fully developed and i'm sure tony makes upgrades on it every now and then. war machine has more weapons, but i'd probably want to go with ironman. tony could put lots of big flashy guns on the suit if he thought it was necessary lol

Yeah but if you go by the comic books, each one of Tony Stark's armors are prototypes, as he would always create a new and different armor every so often.

He never mass produces any of them, save for a unique extremely downscaled version that he would sell to the federal government/SHIELD to be utlized in guarding super-powered criminals.

In terms of firepower then yes it is better, but Stark's primary suit is more versatile in firepower and flexibility.

That's true too. But yes, Tony's armor is more agile. Still he HAS made pretty impressive versions of his armor that could EVEN outclass Rhody. Well, to be honest, after looking back between Stark and Rhody, I like them equal. If it wasn't for Iron Man's brilliance, we wouldn't have War Machine.
