I am from Indonesia, and honestly..I kinda 'envy' you, and people like you, who've managed to stay in Japan..while me, still stuck here.. seriously, I think that the HUGE variations of soo many interesting things & cultures in Japan would easily 'make up' for the apartment's room compactness,..don't you think?.. and how about the quite 'expensive' price?..
Can you do one on work attire for women in japan? That would be good to hear from a first hand perspective since i've kind of been wondering about what kind of clothing should be worn to the workplace
Do you know how many square meters that apartment is? I'm moving to Kyoto-shi for JET and they said my place will be 18 sq m. Only thing is I'm not very good at visualizing what 18 sq m looks like lol! Thanks!
i was so scared you were going to fall while climbing up and down XD agreed, instant coffee is always O____O lovely tour, awesome vlog, lots of hearts <3
@miaxjapan yeah, it was cheap as ^-^! i basically inherited it from my colleague, so i think she must have searched for a cheap apartment. of course it was a bit old, so it had some problems, but yeah, pretty sweet. i was in Gifu City, near Nagoya. a lot of price depends on location ^-^;
That was actually interesting to see a real Japanese apartment. All I've seen photos of before are things in Architectural Digest - that sort of thing. Thanks.
Oh no!!! I couldnt manage living there. I stayed 3 days in Shinjuku in a corporate furnished apartment that was smaller than yours because sans loft and actually loved it just because It was very modern and cheap. But If I was paying for something like yours I would be depressed to tears. You are most awesome for making it there. Sorry I hope this dosent sound bad but its just a long winded way for me to say I couldnt do it. So that makes you awesome! LOL!!! Cheers!
@edtomorrow lol!!! i understand. i think a lot of people would feel that way. the one i'm living in now is a lot smaller AND more expensive...the one in the video was actually quite cheap - about 35,000yen/month. but after living in Japan for a while your way of thinking about things kinda just changes ^-^; and i do kinda like the compactness!
I think it's good to videotape your room. It holds many memories. Sometimes I recall the apartments where I lived before and feel like seeing them again:)
I love the loft! I think Japanese are very smart in making a small space so useful. By small, I mean REALLY small! lol like my apartment...and I wasn't bored. (*^-^*)
Some small apartments are just too small, mind you, but my friends one had character (which made up for the lack of bathroom, but that is why Japan has public baths. But I mostly went to a friends house and used their shower or bath...Hehehe!
Also, your friend from "AKB48 or SNSD? @ Akihabara" sounds like a Singaporean. o_O

@akamai04 It's probably a bit smaller than this one! If you have loft space then that'll make it seem bigger though.

@mimei Okay! Thanks for the speedy reply! I guess I'll see how big it actually is in a few weeks, and I'll upload a vid I guess haha.

I can't believe that cost you 35,000 yen? Where was it! That's really cheap! I'd live in a box room without a kitchen for that price!!
Did you go with a company or ??
I actually really love loft rooms ^^

That is an exact replica of my first apartment I had in Japan. Mine was a Leo Palace. Is that yours too?
ozzy78 1 year ago
@ozzy78 yup! Leopalace basically just churn out apt blocks... although tbh most of the Leopal i've had are less clever than this one ^^
mimei 1 year ago
ahh, Leopalace? I lived in in a Leopalace my 1st year here and it was just as small, maybe smaller...

I sent you a video respopnse. It is not a very good one, but please accept, if you want.
I went back to Japan for a Holiday (I used to live there in the 90's) and I stayed in a friends apartment, which was small but I really liked it.

@Theytoldmetodoit1 approved! ^-^
looks cozy~ actually i don't mind small apartments...esp since in japan one tends to be working all day anyway XD;
