  • If Apple had that It would be AWESOME! but we can't have everything :P

  • Is there a way for selecting several videos to play one after the other without having it to do it manually?.

I think it would be cool selecting like, say; 10 videos, push play button & that's it.

I know that can be done automatically with songs, but with the videos, I have to stop what I'm doing, select the new video, play & repeat each time the same process.

  • I'm not aware of a way to do that - playlists only support music, not videos. It would be nice to be able to create a playlist that incorporated music, videos, and photos.

  • Can you wireless sync with the 30 gb version?

  • Yes, I believe you can wireless sync with the Zune 30. I haven't touched a Zune 30 in a long time, so I can't say for sure...but it should work.

    - Jason

  • I got the 120 gig zune and love it.

  • dose anyone know where to get a ear phone the female i see that they got them for 80 and 120the jack only work if push the post to 1 side i dont want to send it back MS i can fix my self

  • I just purchased one Zune at the Pawnshop for 100 bucks. Not too bad, it's white in color, it came with too many videos, music files and even a movie.

I want to get rid of most of those videos, but I would rather saved them in the PC for just in case I ever decide to sell it.

Now, how do I transfer what I don't want in the zune device to the PC?.

I can't find an answer to that.

  • Connect the Zune, browse to the Zune, select your content, then drag and drop it down to the PC icon in the lower left corner - that will transfer the content from the Zune to the PC.

    - Jason

  • That's funny! Considering you can buy some models New for under $70.00 dollars! LMFAO

  • I put it this way Dude. I purchased a camera for $80.00 Bucks, camera sucks. I went back. No Money back, just a credit to use in whatever they had. They didn't have much. 10 days before the credit expired, I had to add $20.00 & that's how I ended up with Zune.

I''m happy with it. The other day it fail off my hands & hit the floor. I thought I broke it, nope, not even a scratch.

Yesterday I went fishing & took it along. I love it!!!!!.

  • What I'm currently looking for is a Notebook or laptop. At the same Pawshop they have a blue color Acer very small note book. They want $229.00 but the lady told me the battery won't hold charge & that's why they're selling it so cheap. They also have a HP which is some how a little bigger, but for that they're asking $369.00

I don't want to pay no more than $650.00 for a note book or laptop.

  • I hear yah. Im sure your Zune was full of free stuff to.

Me myself, I can't see buying anything there since it is all used stuff that people traded in to feed there addictions.

  • Well?!, I can't testify to that because I don't know who trade it in for cash, but I figured it must to have been a black Dude because most of those videos & songs (more than 400) were mostly black. The dude must to paid big time bucks for all that, but I ended up erasing it because I didn't like just about not even one of those songs & videos (I'm white).

Now I got Dio, Rush, ATC, ACDC, Twister Sister, Men at work, etc.

  • "A black Dude" LMFAO

    Funny as hell:)

  • Sinner !

    X D

At the Academy we had to study Imagery & association LOL

    Imagery (A Black Dude)

Association (what you quote) = all used stuff that people traded in to feed there addictions.

Seriously now. Who in the World would listen to those songs & view those "by far" ugly videos?!.

Some of those were the same songs & video interpreted by a different singer & by the way: "Girls & Dudes with Ghetto asses".

Now I got my own: Van Halen...Hard rock...

  • Lol Me to.

AC-DC, Metallica, Seether, Coldplay, Alice In Chains, Audio Slave, Bush, Creed, Disturbed, Everlast, Kid Rock, Foo Fighters, Godsmack. etc

  • @CDNHottie69 Are we listing shitty bands here?

  • I like the new zune 80 but I havent bought it yet,

  • The Zune 80 has been discontinued - it was replaced by the Zune 120 a while back, but there are still places selling it.

    - Jason

  • thanks!

  • Oh! so when you want the song to sync in your MP3 you don't have to pay?

  • When you sync the music in the zune do you have to pay for the music?

  • No, you don't have to pay for music unless you're buying songs. The Zune will play any non-DRM'd MP3, WMA, or AAC songs.

    - Jason

  • The network connection is slower because it is using 54Mbps, but USB is 480Mbps

  • i like the apple ipod touch but i wish it had thus feature

  • in the new 3.0 firmware you can sync through your wireless internet.

  • can u sync ur zune onto a 360 so that we can listen music on it without a zune cable?

  • As in, can you copy music from your Zune onto your Xbox 360 hard drive? No, that's not possible at this time. Though considering the Xbox 360 can stream music directly from the Zune software on your PC, I don't know why you'd want to put the music on the Xbox hard drive?

    - Jason

  • no i mean can you like get a connection from ur zune to a 360 without a cable and listen to music on ur 360. i guess its not really a sync

  • Yes, you can listen to the music on your Zune right on your 360.

    - Jason

  • awsome dude thanks. but one more question. how do u do it o_O

  • Plug in your Zune, then go to the Xbox music player and browse the USB device (the Zune). That should work.

    - Jason

  • Do u have games yet

  • Yes, the Zune comes with some pre-loaded games. There's no games marketplace yet though where you can get new games for the Zune. If you search you can fine some other games, but it's a bit tricky to get them loaded - Microsoft basically doesn't seem ready for games yet.

    - Jason

  • I thought it did have a sync progress indicator.

  • It does now, but this video was shot in November of 2007 when it did not. It's always a good idea to look at when a video was shot before posting a comment. :-)

    - Jason

  • I did look at the date, but I didn't know that it didn't have it when it first came out. I was not saying you were wrong, which you can clearly tell from the video that there wasn't an indicator at that time.

  • the rest of the routers (mine is the netgear one) Linksys Wireless Standards WRTP54G 802.11g/b WRT54G 802.11g/b WRT54GS 802.11g/b WRT300N 802.11n NETGEAR Wireless Standards WGR614 802.11g/b TRENDnet Wireless Standards TEW-432BRP 802.11g/b
  • oh and, my wireless screen says:

    wireless

    wireless: on

    networks

    sync

    information

    presence: basic

    not just sync now

  • Have you already created the wireless sync relationship as I show in this video?

    - Jason

  • yes, i did what you did, but i found out why the wireless sync wouldn't work. turns out, wireless sync isn't compatible with many routers, like mine. heres a list: Belkin Wireless Standards F5D7230-4 802.11g/b D-Link Wireless Standards DIR-625 802.11n DIR-655 802.11n WBR-1310 802.11g/b WBR-2310 802.11g/b (continues on next comment)
  • please can anyone help everytime I try to wireless sync it always says cant connect make sure your logged on

  • same with me

    :(

  • you need to be logged on to your computer for it to work, and make sure you have a wireless router.

  • nice video btw, zune software is 300 times better than itunes

  • That is so true. The zune software is awesome!

  • im not being a dick or anything but what makes the zune software better than itunes

    (i have an ipod)

  • Well I do like iTunes very much as I use it with my phone, but I personally feel the zune software is better b/c of the features included just as mix view, artist visualizations, also just the way the interface is animated. Now I never said its better than iTunes as it can be slower, but if you have a PC it is free and you should 100% check it out. You don't need a zune to join the social!

  • Qustion: can u just leave the zune anywhere in the house, and when you want to sync it, just open the software and sync the new music, without having to find the zune and turn it on??? thanks in advance

  • No, the wireless sync is triggered from the Zune itself, not from the desktop software. If you think about it, you'd never want to have your Zune always connected to WiFi...the battery would be dead in no time.

    - Jason

  • makes sense, but it'd be so convenient if u could trigger the sync from the desktop though, ah well i've ordered mine and can't wait.

  • I dont get some things about this Zune. It looks attractive, but I read somewhere that I had to pay for something -2 download music and stuff-

My question is: do I need to pay every month to get any specific service totally required to enjoy my Zune?

And the other thing is...if I already have a very organized Library in WindowsMediaPlayer, do I need another program to sync it with the Zune? what is he using?

..I want something like this 4 Christmas :D

  • No, you don't need to pay for a service - you can use any non-DRM'd MP3, WMA, or AAC files in your collection. You do need to use the Zune desktop software though; it won't work with Windows Media Player (there's an esoteric hack, but it's kind of messy). The Zune software can be pointed at your music folder, and it will just scan it - you don't have to move or alter your music collection in any way...assuming it has correct meta data.

    - Jason

  • im thinking about getting the new zune 120 but im not sure if i can do wireless sync..

..im pretty sure my sister has a wireless router for her laptop and im connected to the box in her room so would i be able to wireless sync

  • Yes, it sounds like you should be able to do wireless sync.

    - Jason

  • I want a 120gb zune but I have an iphone. Apple needs wireless download music with itunes people get apple to do that.

  • There is now a progress indicator on the zune with the 3.0 firmware update.

  • Very Good Video-Helpful.

Im having problems with mine v2 4-gigabyte I try to load a movie but it says to me that it cant because of a missing codec and or format not compatible but i have the divx and xvid codecs and i use effectmatrix site to convert it to(wmv)and still its says the same thing bout missing codec and or maybe wrong format. Any suggestions???

  • It sounds like it's not a valid WMV then - you should try a different encoder.

    - Jason

  • hello,2 months ago i had the same problem

but instead of using wmv use mp4 ,it is also supported by the zune and syncs alot faster

i hope u figure out your problem

  • !!!YES YES!! It work as mp4, wow i didnt know that mp4 works with the zune player -thanx sakamoni12-

  • can you sync your zune while your PC is off?

  • No, because it wirelessly connects to your PC - if it's off, or not logged in, it can't start the Zune software.

    - Jason

  • Hey man, its me again, just bought an 80G today and got the software without problem this time. Iv already synched them both and now theres a lot of stuff on my zune. But now im wondering if there is any possible way to delete single pieces of content that i choose from my zune. Iv seen the option to erase all content from the zune and sync again but that sucks.

  • Sure, just right-click on any piece of content on your Zune and you'll see a delete option (or maybe it's "remove" - I can't recall). Or you can select the item and press the delete button - exactly like how you'd delete any other file off your PC.

    - Jason

  • hmmm, maybe u shud go to settings and click sync options and click smart sync

  • hey im wondering if the Zune would be cool for me. I first looked at it because im already connected to other microsoft services (windows live messenger, xbox live etc.). Im thinking about getting one because it can play videos, has 80G of memory and is relatively cheap. However iv already had trouble downloading the software (havent bought a zune yet tho) and from watching your video on it it doesnt look all that greater than itunes or my samsung media player. Overall, how does Zune compare?

  • What kinds of problems with you have with the software? Do you mean you had trouble installing it? You said downloading it, but downloading a file from a Web site usually isn't very problematic...

    - Jason

  • yeah i meant installing srry, and actually i think it was my comps fault. Apparently the software was trying to sync with my 360, which media connect was already doing on my computer. This was a massive conflict, and it caused my computer to crash. after that, every time i turned on my computer the PC usage would be at 100%. It was restored eventually, and im on a new comp anyways - Im just not sure if i want to try it again, even though i know what went wrong.

  • Well, for what it's worth, I have the Zune software installed on six of my computers, and it works great on all of them (from a lowly 1.2 Ghz CPU to a quad-core CPU). In fact, it works so well that I don't use Windows Media Player any more - I use the Zune software to listen to music on all my computers. Give the Zune software a try on your new PC and I thin you'll be quite pleased. :-)

    - Jason

  • will do man, thanks :) but btw, have there been any updates since release that do anything to improve the program's poor organization of files? I saw your tour of it and i was disappointed at how it just tossed all your videos in one giant ugly mess :(

  • No, the way it organizes videos is still pretty basic: TV, MOVIES, MUSIC (music videos), OTHER, and ALL. It's not that great of an experience if you're looking for granularity. I tend to watch videos using Windows Media Center, so it doesn't bother me personally all that much.

    - Jason

  • oh i must not have seen that, if it puts them into categories like that it'll be good enough for me. thx!

  • Help me please! I keep doing what you say, but it doesn't work it always stops at Connecting to PC. I am connected to the PC and I am logged on so I dont know why it doesn't work. So if you could help me I would be insanly grateful

  • A few things to try: connect directly to the PC, not a USB hub. Try different USB ports. Try a different computer. If it fails on all of the, it might be a defective Zune cable, or even a defective Zune. There's no easy answer here, troubleshooting takes a while...

    - Jason

  • Alright, I'll try it but I'm pretty sure it wont work but thnaks anywayz :D

  • I don't have a Wireless network in my home but I have a router. What should I do to make the wireless sync work? can I create a wireless network by myself?

    Aviv

  • Is your router a wireless router? If so, set up a WiFi network, and have the Zune connect to it.

    - Jason

  • My router isn't a wireless router.

You know another way to connect it?

  • In order to be able to use a wireless network, you need to have a wireless router. You can get a WiFi router for $30, so just go buy one. :-)

    - Jason

  • I will do it :)

    thanks Jason!

    -Aviv

  • no is the pass key on the box or instructions

  • First, please use the REPLY link when posting a reply. Second, do you have a wireless network in your home or office? If not, then you can't do a wireless sync. The Zune doesn't connect to some magical network in the sky - you have to have access to a WiFi network.

    - Jason

  • whats and where is the pass key

  • It's the security code for your wireless network - if you have a secured network.

    - Jason

  • how do u know what the passkey is?

  • It's what you use to get onto your wireless network. It's the same password or WEP key you use with your laptop. If you don't know what it is, that probably means you're not connecting to your own network. :-)

    - Jason

  • in my opinion the USB syncing is more faster than wifi.

  • Oh, it's not just your opinion: a USB 2.0 sync runs a maximum of 480 mbps, and an 802.11g sync runs at a maximum of 54 mbps. In pretty much every possible case, a USB sync will be faster.

    - Jason

  • just a lil faster

  • Also , if i may , i would like to know your opinion on how Zune 80 nd Toshiba gigabeat S ( 30 Gb ) compare in looks and in Audio quality ,

Since i am confused b/w the two nd i dont feel like splashing extra cash for wireless sync feature since 30 Gb is more than enough for me .

  • Sorry man, you have way too many questions for me to answer (and I don't own a newer Gigabeat) - I suggest you hit Google and start reading. :-)

  • I thought u might have reviewed it or maybe used it somtime .

    Nywyz u were a great help .

    tnx a tons .

  • Nope, sorry. But check out my friend's Web site, Anything But iPod. It's a great resource for audio players.

    - Jason

  • u forgot to put

    - Jason

    on that comment

    lol

  • Also the software said sync options at the start , wat are these options ?

yeah , btw I asked the earlier ques coz i control my Pc by mounting my N 95 on it ( via bluetooth ) nd its really gr8 feature , nd i use it much more than I at first though I would.

Btw does ny other Audio player comes with that feature ?

  • Wireless Syc sounds really cool .

One thing i wanted to ask was if u can sync zune with Pc in such a way that when you play something on your zune it plays on the Pc i.e. output of the player comes form the Speakers connected to the Pc ( when wirelessly synced ) ?

    Tnx

  • No, unfortunately because the Zune doesn't mount as a mass-storage device, you can't play music directly off it on your PC...which sucks, I'd like to have that feature.

    - Jason

  • Does that mean wireless sync provided in zune is only useful for transferring media files ( which i would anywayz prefer with USB conn coz of better speeds ) and connect to another zune .

Or does it have ny other use ?

  • Other than sending content to other Zunes, and doing a sync from the Zune to your desktop PC, no, the wireless has no other function (so far).

    - Jason

  • Is it possible to wirelessly charge the new zune 80

  • Wireless power? That's called lightning. ;-) No, you can't wirelessly charge the Zune - I presume you're referring to an induction charge or something similar? That technology hasn't really come to market in a big way yet beyond toothbrushes and watches.

    - Jason

  • I can't set mine up?

    Do you need wireless internet?

  • You need to have a wireless network, WiFi, in order to sync with.

    - Jason

  • Thanks man, now all i need is a wireless network! Maybe i can convince my Computer Engineering teacher to help me with that!

    :DD

  • can you put dvds into the hard drive and sync it on to the zune

  • Yes, you can rip DVDs using a program like CloneDVD Mobile and put them on the Zune (you'll need AnyDVD to crack the DVD first though).

    - Jason

  • when you are done do you have to safely remove it?

  • You just unplug the Zune - that's all.

    - Jason

  • If you got the 2.5 Update you can see how much synchronizing is done.

  • can you wirelessly sync with the zune 30gb v2?

  • can you wirelessly sync with the zune 30gb v2?

  • Absolutely!

    - Jason

  • i will try that too it looks really cool to show off tech jaja

  • hey it works on 1st gen also just have to have version 2.1 or higher

  • I dont know what a neywork passphare is can you tell me

  • That's the security code for your WiFi network. If you're using WEP security, you'll have a long password, or if you're using WPA like me, you'll have a passphrase. It sounds like you need to ask a friend who's good with technology for help. :-)

    - Jason

  • thank you!! I LIKE EASY STEPS 1 2 3!! DONE!

  • Is there a 160 gig Zune on the horizon?

  • I sure hope so! But it can't happen until the 160 GB drives are as thin as the 80 GB drive - I don't think Microsoft wants to design a thicker chassis to hold the bigger hard drive.

    - Jason

  • Yeah that's what I was afraid of. If they do make a 160 gig, do you think it would be the new version out this fall? Also, are there any compatibility issues?

    Thanks for the help.

  • I have no clue what they'll be doing this fall - I'm hoping for a 160 GB version as well. What do you mean by compatibility issues?

    - Jason

  • Are there any format's that Zune won't play?

  • Yup, a few: Divx, Xvid, OGG, FLAC...

    - Jason

  • Yeah, but it's easy to convert. FFMPEG, anyone?

  • hey i am doing it with my 30g zune that i got and it tells me what % it is at!!!!

  • Yup, that's a new feature with the 2.5 spring update - when I did this video, it didn't have that feature. ;-)

    - Jason

  • oOo ok thanks i love you zune videos i want a zune v2 but my mom got me a v1 for my b-day so whatever

do you know were i can get a zune 2 for cheaper best buy?

  • If you're asking me if I somehow magically know the prices of every store in the world that's selling the Zune...no, I don't. ;-) Do some research and you'll find your answer.

    - Jason

  • No, it doesn't need to be plugged in or charging - that's just what it needs to sync automatically. You can kick off the manual sync yourself via the wireless menu item without it needing power.

    - Jason

  • Are you logged into your laptop? The Zune software can't start unless you're logged in.

    - Jason

  • I was wondering if you can wirelessly sync with several computers. For instance: you have the Zune software on your desktop and your laptop. Thus, you can be at a bookstore and sync your Zune with your laptop (wirelessly). I'd find it convenient if I could have several computers be able to wirelessly sync. That way, if someone is using my desktop, I can just use my laptop to to do wireless sync.

    Sorry for the misspellings.

  • I don't believe that's possible, though I have to be honest I haven't tried it - I don't see a UI on the Zune that would allow multiple-PC wireless sync, but maybe it's there...I think you should buy a Zune and find out. :-)

    - Jason

  • not bad.not bad

so can the regular zunes that had the filmware update to the same?

if so, then i'm just gona go out and spend $200 and buy the regular zunes(i already have an ipod classic and an ipod touch)

  • Yup, you bet. The Zune 30 has the same WiFi syncing after the 2.x firmware update (which is free).

    - Jason

  • i tried everything in the book for WEEKS to make my 4GB zune wirelessly sync..just one song at least to see if it works and im still denied the right to do it..:( when im wirelessly syncing it says i cant connect to PC...i dont understand what that means..i need a thorough break down of this cuz im still confused :(

  • You've followed what I did in the video by connecting to the Zune software, it finds your wireless network, etc.?

    - Jason

  • When I try to wirelessly sync my 8gb zune this is what the message that appears on the screen: Can't connect to the PC. Make sure you're logged on. What does that mean? If you can help me I will really appreciate it, if you can't thank you anyway.

  • Your desktop/laptop PC has to be logged in or else the Zune software can't load.

    - Jason

  • is the wireless sync worth it?

  • For some people it might be, but I honestly haven't used it since this first test months ago. I don't sync my Zune that often period, and I don't follow podcasts regularly. But many do...

    - Jason

  • yes, you can also charge your zune wirelessly.

  • Oh really? And how does that work? :-)

    - Jason

  • im trying to wireless sync my zune 8 it wont let me connect i have everything right any suggestions?

  • When you do the initial setup on the PC, does that part work? If it does, but then the sync doesn't, that sounds like a possible signal problem or a router problem. Both are hard to troubleshoot, because the Zune has no tools for that. But if it detects the wireless network when it's connected to your PC during setup, it *should* work. Have you tried moving closer to your router to ensure it's not a signal issue? Tried rebooting your router?

    - Jason

  • wow.. syncing takes a long time...

  • Yup, the wireless sync isn't super fact. It's more for pulling down a podcast or a few songs, not multiple albums...

    - Jason

  • and can you download stuff on other pc's?

    or ONLY on your(my)pc?

  • You can connect as a guest, but the computer you're connecting to has to have the Zune software installed.

    - Jason

  • and i have zune80 if that helps

  • i try to sync videos but they wont sync. i can only watch the video on the computer but it wont sync or appear in my video library. i have windows vista by the way. Can u help me wit my problem

  • They're probably not in the right format - the Zune software will index WMV, DVR-MS, h.264/MPEG4 videos - not AVI, DivX, Xvid, etc.

    - Jason

  • thanks

  • can the zune play MOV ?

  • No, unfortunately it can't.

    - Jason

  • can u actually go on the internet with the zune

  • No, you can't - it has no browser, no email client, etc. The Zune 4/8 is designed to compete with the iPod Nano, the Zune 80 competes with the iPod Classic. There is no Zune that competes with the iPod Touch.

    - Jason

  • Can Zune be synced with Windows Media Player? Or can it just be recognized by WMP to play the music stored on the Zune? And what about Zune with Vista MCE?

And a non-zune question: What are the green and blue dots in the music folders on your explorer window?

    Thak You!

  • well u download the Zune software and it scans for all music and video on your computer, and it syncs with that. whatever you have on WMP you also have on Zune software. Unless you have .mpg videos, Zune does not do .mpg, it does mp4 and other video formats

  • Zune sync with WMP: no, you sync it with the Zune software. Although there is a hack that someone released that allows you to use WMP to sync the Zune. You can't play music directly off the Zune. The Zune works great with Vista. The green/blue dots are from Carbonite, my online backup service.

    - Jason

  • Thank You.

Does Zune interact in any way with XP/Vista Media Center?

  • Not really, no. The Zune desktop software, on Vista, will transcode your TV shows, but that's about it.

    - Jason

  • i have a question, i can upload my mp3 files to a zune 80 right?

  • Yes, of course

  • Yes, you can load any MP3, WMA, or AAC file onto the device - assuming it's not protected by any DRM scheme that's not Zune compatible (such as iTunes).

    - Jason

  • and how do you get the artwork to show up if it was a rip or a download

  • I use Media Monkey for all my album art embedding. It's free, give it a go. The Zune software is very poor tool for getting album art and updating song metadata.

    - Jason

  • did you but taht album from the marketplace or did you rip it to the zune software on your computer? or did you download it

  • I don't know which album you're talking about - most of my songs are ripped CDs, but some are downloads from MSN Music or Zune Marketplace.

    - Jason

  • the zune is great, just bought mine recently,it rocks

  • Glad to hear it! Be sure to stop by Zune Thoughts and join our community. :-)

    - Jason

  • also can u get limewire songs on the zune or do u have to pay

  • You can load up any MP3, WMA, or AAC file you want, as long as there's no DRM protection on it. I'd really encourage you to buy your music though and support the artists who's music you love. :-)

    - Jason

  • since its wi-fi do u think if u lose ur zune u can track it because i heard u can do that with the ipod 80gb

  • No, I can't see how that's possible in any way for a Zune or an iPod.
