imagine this with a mamba monster installed plus the big castle motor from the brushless emaxx and 2 lipos! except it would probably just rip the gearbox to shreads
nooo thats 6 cell, the 7 cell reached to 40 the local hobby shop store, stock just like yours. its true. the hobby workers had a speed gun., they showed me
Yeah I have one and the motor crapped out within the first month, so i just put a 540 motor in it and its been fine for 2 years now, it actually has more power if you get the right kinda 540 motor for it. Also put a really small pinion gear on it for awesome torque!
i am in love with my stampede.. even though things do break, everything is replaceable! i got a 8.4v 500 mah and it is super fast. one of the neighbors got pissed off from me spraying gravel in his driveway and at his jeep.
Depends on your battery, i.e. condition, mah capacity, chemistry, etc. and the motor you use. I can get close to 20 mins. with a 3300mah pack and a 23T Titan geared 25/86. The Titans are actually Mabuchi RS 550PC/VC motors, some of the best sealed endbell motors out there. Clean'em out every once in awhile and they'll last a good bit.
Great music for a great truck!!! I have a Stampede XL-5 with a 23T Titan geared 25/86 and it runs great even a 7.2volts I prefer the bottom-end grunt of the 23-turn because it makes more efficient use of the rpm's over that of the 12-turn's at the same voltage. If I ran that 25/86 gearing with the 12-turn, it would get rather hot. The 23-turn was barely warm after 2- 3300mah packs, almost 45mins of run time! This is why I prefer hi-torque w/medium rpms over lower torque/hi rpms. wheelies R good!
Nice. The longer wheelbase should make it more stable. But most monster tucks will tip over sometimes if you thrash around on tarmac, concrete, grass, carpet, your bed, or a 60ft high lemon jelly! :-P
Great video man, Stampede is a killer truck. The wheelie at the end up the hill was sick!! Really great seeing the pede out doing what it was meant to do, not pulling a wheelie down the street at 50+ (although that is cool too :D )
hows it turn? I'm a rusty fan...and saving for an ERevo but i came across amainhobby's sale for 139 and an riding the fence. is it as top heavy as it looks? will it flip at sharp turns and jumps?
i pretty sure that u can either by a hump 7 cell style battery that looks just like a 6 cell except the 7th cell is just sitting ontop of the 6, not at the end, so the 7th cell does not make the battery longer, it makes the battery higher or i think that u can take the little grey foam thing out of the end of the stampede's battery compartment, so it can fit a longer battery
Hey jang, what 7 cell matched pack is that? And, what's your opinion on the EP4600 6 cell pack? Do 7 cells have more run-time than 6 cells? Sorry for all the questions! lol Great video. 5/5!
It's not matched, I was using a pack of Elite cells. Not so sure on the EP4600s as I have only heard a little from folks using them, and it's so far so good. The number of cells in series changes your voltage and thus your speed - the mAH rating is what determines runtime. The 7-cell will give you a bit more weight though and if you run it just as hard you will draw more amps, so it could reduce your runtime *slightly*. For a bunch of input on stuff like this, post your questions at UltimateRC!
Id suggest the xl5,the vxl is very fun ones u get used to it but its just down right UNSAFE! u could hurt some one with it and id watch out for breaking the xl5, the parts for it arnt cheap espeshally the batt and motor and twelve year olds budjets arnt big,i should know(im twelve myself)
For just starting out I would VERY STRONGLY recommend the XL-5 over the VXL *any* day! The VXL is NOT for newcomers to the hobby! The power of that machine is downright dangerous and until you learn throttle control and handling limits it will not be safe to drive the VXL. The VXL is for owners with experience only. The XL5 is really, really fast as it is, plus it costs so much less than the VXL!
Get the VXL. At first it may seem too fast for you but after about 10 mins you get used to it, it's not that difficult. If you do have a hard time driving it the VXL has a "training mode" for beginners that allows only 1/2 power. After you get good at it you can switch to "sport mode" or "race mode" which means full power.
awesome vid mate! new trails my friend dosent live far from there his in foster city, CA but i live in sydney Australia nice pede im getting one tomorrow!! cant wait!! do they go as fast as the box says 40mph? if it does im guessing it goes alot better with the powerfull battery that gives it alot more power nice vid again mate!
Pretty much as far as you can see (no lie). I've controlled a heavily modified vehicle using this same stock radio to the point where it was so far away that I couldn't tell what direction it was facing!
What would you say the best battery for it is when it comes to run time and speed? And how's the durability? I snuck a peek at one hiding in the trunk of my dad's Infiniti today haha.
Kl! im trying to persuade my mate to get one of these so i can race him with a t maxx, hopefully hell get the nitro one though! A little more of a challenge
Ran surprisingly cool ! Even the Rustler on 28 - 86 speed gearing passed the 5-second touch test after a full run. Full review on UltimateTraxxas.com!

How can you fit a 7 cell battery in the stampede, its just enough space to fit a 6 cell batteri in the battery holder.

"Brushless" is just a different design of electric motor (versus "brushed") that is more efficient and can safely create a lot more horsepower.
thejang 4 years ago
Get the VXL. At first it may seem too fast for you but after about 10 mins you get used to it, it's not that difficult.
