Great video! Great views! Great Trip! My son and I were at Phantom Ranch last Thanksgiving, and we enjoyed our second overnight hike in the canyon. I was down the Grandview in October 2002, but on a day hike just down to the Coconino Saddle. I recognized some of the landmarks at the beginning of your video, especially the log cribbing on the trail. I might be passing through AZ in October of this year, and I'm thinking of Horseshoe Mesa as a day hike. How far down can day hikers get?

@landrysg I think you could do it in a day if you start early. It is labeled as "strenuous" and not an easy hike back up to the top. Allow 4 or more hours back to top so you can enjoy the views on the way up.

Hey thank you very much for the post. I have a question....We are going to hike the end of May from Red Canyon towards the Hance Rapids and then towards Cottonwood through Tonto Trail....everyone says that it gets dangerous at Toroweap and Kaibab....So how dangerous it is for people who are not very experienced hikers (moderate) Do you think it is doable?
