  • Thanks for the response! What newborn diapers did you use? I know BG has newborn diapers, have you tried those? I think i remember you mentioning that you used kissaluvs. How many fitteds and covers did you have for the newborn stage? I am thinking doing laundry every other day. Also, how many flips do you have in your stash?

  • Hi there,

Thanks for the review, i found it super helpful!

I have decided to go with bumgenius 4.0 one size as well as the flip diapers.

I am having a really hard time deciding how many of each i should be getting and how many in total i should have. I also hope to start using the cloth diapers right away my baby.

    Any suggestions?

  • @robynangeloni We had 18 newborn diapers. Even through BG are one size, they were pretty ridiculous looking on her as a newborn. Made it hard to fit in her clothes because of the bulk. I'd definitely invest in smaller newborn stash for the first 3-4 months of life. :) It depends how often you want to wash. You could get 12 if you washed daily.

  • It's funny, everyone has such different opinions. I LOVE cloth wipes for poo especially, hate the diaper sprayer (never use it), didn't like Flips at all, and find my prefolds stuffed in a pocket diaper to be my absolute favourite combination. I used BG 4.0s for a few years and the inserts died... like worn out and flat/thin kinda dead. I bought some prefolds to use as inserts to replace their inserts, wow, love them!

  • @headlessfriar Never thought to put a prefold into a pocket diaper. Hmmm interesting. My inserts aren't dead yet. They work well, but if I had stink issues with microfiber I could see using a prefold inside a pocket as being an amazing option!!!

  • I love love my econobum. Bumgenius makes those too. My dd has never leaked in them and they are super absorbent.

  • hey, you seem to know a lot about diapers, so i wanted to ask if you have tried econobum and if they're any good.. thanx!

  • @Ichthyologistic No I've never tried that brand.

  • I agree with you! We love BG 4.0 the best by far. Also I don't know if you've ever tried the BG Elementals yet, But they are awesome as well! They are their organic AIO. Super trim and super absorbant! Since they are organic they would need washed 3-5 times to increase absorbancy before 1st use. Just hearing your reviews I feel this diaper would be a favorite of yours too. I also agree with everything you said about Fuzzibunz & Rumparooz. Same problem here! BG Rocks:-)

  • GumBenius 4.0 and FLIP diapers available in the new colors and prints at Comfy Cozy Diapers .com

  • Do you think you could get away with flip from the start with a newborn insert? Oh, would you think a whole stash of flips is realistic? TIA!!

  • @rotherfamily I think everyone likes different styles, and different styles for different purposes. Like some for travel, some for husband (simple) or some for your mood. Some days I like prefolds or flips, but most of the time I use pocket. But I like both.

  • What brand of diaper liners are you using? I can't see the package that you hold up of the kind you use. :) Thanks!

  • @andie1508 They're the ones on Amazon. They are okay, but we actually don't use them anymore. It's hard to know when she is going to poop, and end up wasting them thinking a poop is coming, and the one time we don't use them-- she poops! LoL

  • What brand cloth liner is it that you use and where did you buy it? You flashed the liner bag too fast andI couldnt read it.

  • @Christianpreaching Cloth liners were Bum Genius, but I didn't use them for long...just not my thing. They were sent by mistake when I ordered doublers, and the seller let me keep them for free.

  • I loved your review. :) I plan on using cloth diapers when the baby comes and your insight helped a lot. I'm definitely going for the bumgenius now. what inserts did you use for night/day?

  • Thanks for your update. I absolutely agree on the BumGenius being fantastic diapers however we use the BG (Organics) Elementals. I have never tried the 4.0 but plan to purchase the x-small 3.0 Deluxe for baby 4. With the Fuzzibunz we have had to use both inserts since 3 months to prevent leakage. The only suggestion would be to purchase a few good wool doublers that you place between the microfiber insert and the PUL of the diaper. Then you would be cutting the bulk of using the second insert.

  • You hold it up so quickly (or else the camera jumps a bit at this point), but I can't see the brand of the diaper liners you use. And you didn't mention the name of the brand. Can you let us know what brand that is? They sound perfect! I've used some before but they were a little too soft and flimsy and didn't work very well. Thanks in advance. :)

  • Which bum genius do u like??? 4.0? or elemental organic?? or which bum genius is your fav?

thanks im pregnant and looking for best diaper and sounds like these are great

    thanks

  • @lncmont2009 I use the 4.0 pocket diaper. All in ones are okay, but they take longer to dry....maybe try one of each? Everyone likes something different, and you never know what you'll love until the time comes, and as the baby grows, sometimes you use different things. For example I loved fitted with covers as a newborn, and now use mainly pocket. :)

  • Hello Your video is really helpful. I am new to cloth diapering and we're looking at starting out with the gdiapers and flip diapers. I was wondering if you ever used the gdiapers or know someone who has.

  • @maeganhv06 I never have...I went with the flips instead of g-diapers.

  • Also with the fuzzibunz I always just use one insert (the large one). The elastic adjusts the rise of the diaper so that shouldn't really make a huge difference regarding leaks. Your leg or hip snap might not be tight enough. I would try adjusting one more notch in if your still getting leaks. Also make sure your not using the newborn insert because using the small insert on the medium setting of the diaper can cause leaks too.

  • @tigershoes100 Omg...duh! LoL I guess I figured she was still my little newborn, but now I'm using the large inserts (after u posted this, I went through them all, and adjusted the size and the inserts to the large ones) and no leaks! Thank you!!!!

  • @suezq4369 No problem girl. I am glad everything is working better :)

  • I dont know if anyone has mentioned this with the fuzzibunz regarding red marks. I used to have the same problem until I stopped tucking in the microfleece pocket flap that sticks out the back. Now I always pull the fleece out the back so it is between my sons skin and the elastic. I always thought this would cause wicking onto clothes so I never tried it until I saw a lot of moms doing this. That portion of fleece never gets wet anyway so never had wicking and it works wonderful.

  • @tigershoes100 Thanks for the tip!!

  • Are the flip diapers trim?

  • @rachg09890 Very, they fit the same as the Bum Genius (same company) but the inserts are wide, but thin. On a small baby you fold the insert in the front, so her tummy has a thicker part by her waist. But the inserts fit birth to potty training, so once she's older, I will no longer need to fold them. They're marked small medium and large, with places to fold for each. Hope that helps! I love the flips and need to do an update on them.

  • Hi, I've been checking on your reviews regarding cloth diapers, I see you haven't tried FB (because of the elastics) and Charlie Banana (which I both own right now), I'm thinking of trying Rumparooz, because of the inner gussets. Have you tried that one as well?

One of the CD reviewer here in YouTube (clothdiaperchannel - Jen) was a great fan of BG and Fuzzi, but when she tried the Rump she said it was the best. Please do have some review on that if you can? I love your reviews.

  • @mamikohh We have one rumparooz, and I haven't reviewed it because I keep hoping as she gets bigger I will like it, but it's just okay. We hardly ever use it. I love the cute prints, and it doesn't leak, but it's very bulky on her. And with only one insert, it leaked. So we use both inserts it comes with if we do use it at all. I do own FB now. Never tried Charlie banana, but I heard they are replicas of each other. I'll pull out my rumparooz and give a review soon, and FB as well. :)

  • If you go to sell your best bottoms let me know I love the best bottoms :) and I can't find them used anywhere :(

  • @mrsstk I already sold them on ebay, sorry....

  • First, my BB does the same thing at hips, but no leaks! Love the BB stay dry inserts. But want try BG Flip insert because it's OS. Does it fill dry when wet? Second, for FB try letting out let elastic and for the back elastic pull out the fleece over the band just make sure insert is tucked in. Hope that helps. My son is 6wks old and 9lbs.

  • @hummingbird3981 Flip feels slightly wet and only wicks away some moisture. It's not like a pocket in that sense. I'll try that with the back, and we ended up letting the elastic out. Still have occasional leaks though. It's just a stay at home diaper and not a go to if we're out and about. I do not want leaks and clothing changes when we're out if possible, so it's not my favorite go to diaper.

  • I know you're busy being a great Mom, but I miss your videos!!!!!!!

  • @vicsterrrful Aw, thank you!!!!! :) That's so sweet!!!

  • Does the flip hold in poop any good?

  • @pyang264 WONDERFULLY. It's our favorite diaper for poops. I'll update on it soon!

  • How long does ur daughter wear the diapers before changing to another diaper for flip and bg?

  • @pyang264 We always change her every 1-2 hours. :) And you just learn, like after she eats, she pees. And now we can tell when she's pooping, so we change her right away. I like to keep her dry and never have diaper rash issues! :)

  • So do u like the flips better than best bottom diapers? Have u tried bb diapers on ur daughter?

  • @pyang264 I sold my BB, that's how much we didn't like them. LOVE the flip :)

  • Also maybe try use the outermost hip snap.

  • With your FB I think you should loosen the elastic at least one adjustment...it seems they may be leaking b/c you have them set so tight. My son uses FB (we have like 21 of the OS FB) since he was about 6 weeks old and we have never had a leak.

  • In my comment below, I meant air/hang dry, not "line" dry since I don't have a clothes line. I sometimes dry them in my laundry room and sometimes outside.

  • Re. your Best Bottoms, I have never really been into the AI2 systems. You can just trifold a prefold or take a soaker and stick it in a cover, basically like the Flip, and get the same thing. I would think snapping in and out the soaker would actually be annoying. I am wondering if you have tried laying your Best Bottom soakers in your Thirsties covers. Maybe that would work better for you. I LOVE my Kissaluv fitteds in Thirsties covers for newborns, too!

  • @HeartMyKPop The snap on insert on BB was actually the thing I love about them. I'll sell them eventually, they just weren't for us.

  • Love following your diaper journey. Great reviews. My favorite diapers are BumGenius Elemental AIOs and Ragababe AIOs. I wonder if you would like the Elementals... I think I am going to give the Flips a try for travel! Sounds like a great solution!

  • @HeartMyKPop Do the AIO's take a long time to dry? Do you use the drier or hang dry? That's why I've never bought the all in ones from BG.

  • @suezq4369The Elementals have the fabric "loose" in there. They are only sewn down on the ends and they flap around to get really clean so the drying is not as "bad" as a true AIO. I am not a fan of AIOs that are completely sewn down because if you have a stay-dry lining, you won't be able to tell when they are dry on the inside.

  • @suezq4369 I don't use pockets so I can't compare the drying times, but I don't think it's a big deal. Maybe it takes a bit longer to dry, but not enough to be an inconvenience to me. I guess you can think of the extra drying time as the time it would have taken you to stuff and unstuff pockets. I think the only real con of AIOs is the price. I think they are good to have on hand, at least a few, for babysitters or daycares.

  • @suezq4369 I line dry AIO diapers usually because I think it helps extend the life of them since the PUL and, in some cases, velcro are "built-in". I do sometimes dry them in the dryer and it's not too bad for me, at least. We are all different. Thankfully there are all kinds of diapers to meet different families' needs.

  • What how about the kawaii diapers. Please do or give a review. Do u like them or use them? Why or why not?

  • @pyang264 She does one at around 16:45.

  • @pyang264 I sold them. They were huge on Ava, and I decided I wanted diapers that were truly onesize, and not something she couldn't use yet.

  • I am the same way...I do not buy any dipes with out a discount code and if the site offers free ship! lol! I wated till the BG's were buy 5 get 1 free. I just HATE THE COLORS...so dull and bleh...i also want to try flip because its a bulky diaper bag! oh and I am only like 2 weeks apart! you had everything 2 weeks before me while we were pregnant! ^_^

  • @XLolitaXRoseX Very cool :) And yes, diaper bag is normally stuffed, but I found I over pack diapers, so I've stopped packing so many. I also have an emergency back up diaper bag in the car at all times. LoL so I have extra in there just in case.

  • I have BumGenius 4.0 and FuzziBunz OS and Hemp. I loev the BG's they are truly made for most baby body builds. My son is 4 months and 14lbs and he is still on the small setting, while with the FB's he is on the Med/Lg. I hate the narrow pocket of the FBs. The hemp is a bit wider and I use it for over nights. If I wanted to use the regular FB i would have to dlb stuff and made the leg elastic bigger and what a pain...the FBs are really just for log skinny babies. Not chunky ones! BG's r my fav!

  • @XLolitaXRoseX Ava is long and skinny, but I still prefer the BG :) But we do use both

  • @xxxMommaRobertsxxx Funny that we have the same fav's :) I wish I loved fuzzibunz more...the colors are so cute! But the red marks they leave make me not like using them.

  • I love cloth diapering too :D went to retreat this past weekend... Hate Hate Hate disposable, she exploded out of your disposable and i had to pull over and clean her car seat out took 20 min. Came home to 8 new bum genius that i ordered last week :D LOVE BUM GEN :D :D

  • @meganbfrogs Oh yikes!! I agree, bum genius are by far my favorites!!!

  • Omg you are scaring me!!! Our son is going to be born in 2 days and I have like 30 FBs!!! I know all babies are different but I am SO hoping they work for us.

  • @mydaughtermyworld Some people LOVE them, so I guess every baby is different. And if you don't, they should be easy to sell. BG and FB retain their retail value pretty well :)

  • I am going to by Kissluvs for newborn babies next time around. I just felt the best bottoms did not do super great with newborns. Other then that I love them. The kissluvs sound perfect. How much are they with the cover?

  • @PeskyPCOS Yeah, and thirsties covers ROCK, forgot to mention those. Velcro doesn't hurt her at the waist and isn't huge, and they have double gussets that hold in everything. And kissaluvs hold it all in anyway, we never had a kissaluv leak, ever. They're around $11 a diaper, and $13 for the cover. We only had 3 covers and 18 kissaluvs and that was perfect for us.

  • I love your stash! Jealous! Great Review! I love long video's....obviously. My friend Adrienne has Bum Genius and she loooooooooves them to. Olive oil is the bomb

  • @PeskyPCOS Thanks Mary :)

  • My fb OS is not my fave either...we've also had leaking issues with those. However my sized fb I've had no issue with whatsoever

  • @rmmartin92405 Really? I always thought it was the opposite, and the sized ones weren't as good. LoL Oh well.

  • I have one Best Bottom cover, and I also found it to fit funny. I watched Mary's video today and was thinking of buying a couple of med. sized inserts to try. I never bought flip, but should have, I had a chance to get them on sale. I do the same with the liners. I use them when I think the baby is going to poop, but he does catch me off guard sometimes. Great video!!!

  • @ThePJmommy LoL yeah, you just never know....when it could come. Sometimes we're caught off guard too. But those liners do make it easier and less to spay off.

  • I have a couple fuzzi bunz one size and the day before yesterday he left a puddle on the floor. They are horrible! He is 11 mnths and I've tried every button size and it doesn't help. I've even changed the inserts and same thing. There sized ones are great just the os has problems.

  • @kidstwomany Oh no :( You're the second person to make that comment that the sized ones are better.

  • I ALWAYS have leaks with Fuzzibunz. My Fave diapers, are BG 4.0 and TotBots Easy Fits =) Great review!

  • @SusyQ811 I wanted to try those TotBots, but just didn't want to pay $23 for a diaper, and I seriously don't need more...(I just ordered a few more BG and some doublers, and one more flip cover, I'm so DONE now. LOL It's addictive)
