Why ASSwood? That kills the deal. I would never own an Basswood guitar.

If Petrucci is really using Basswood, he would sound better with Alder or Mahogany.

@dickdog1 bass wood has different species. don't get excited over companies trying to over rate their mahogany or alder. Basswood can actually sound really good if its from the right species and aged enough.

on the site it says its a locking trem. does that mean its like a floyd where u have to adjust springs and stuff of can i just tune freely?

@ryguyrocker @ 0:55 it shows the head stock area with no locking nut. So unless they have some oddball locking mechanism at the bridge it looks like you can tune freely like a basic flush Fender Strat trem.

I'm not so in love with the new body design. I actually don't really like the first BFR design either. IMO, the regular JP6 model looked the best and I LOVE the contour on it

@xdivinebladex I actually think it's ironic that 10 years after leaving Ibanez, due to the change in body shape and it becoming more symmetrical his 10th Anniversary Music Man signature guitar is by far the closest looking to his old Ibanez RG-based Ibanez signature model of his 3 different EB/MM models. Now all it needs is a Picasso graphic done in metallic colors... ;-)

@SjPedro Will do! I'm not the greatest but I'll give you a demo running it thru my Engl Powerball head. The sad part is the ship date isnt until 5.31.10 so I got a few months to wait and its KILLING me! LOL!

I am waiting on the delivery of DiMarzio's Crunch Lab and Liquifire 7 string version. Gonna wire them the same way JPX is wired....closest thing I can get :-(

Is it much differant than the 2009? I am considering it and I can get the 2009 for a good price , I knoe the 5 way switch is new

I like it, but don't like the five way switch, I really prefer the toggles but in the end, it's still one of the most amazing looking guitars ever.

i actually didn't like the 3 way i'm one of the few who didn't but it was really inconvenient changing positions and i know other people didn't have as much trouble but it gives more tone options and it still looks killer
