I tried to download blender. I accidentaly downloaded the wrong bit version first, and it ran SUPER slow. Realizing my mistake I downloaded the right bit version. Nethier the ZIP nor the other download for 64 bit will work. All it does is say that they aren't compatible and to check to make sure I got the right bit even though I do .Can you help fix this?

i didn't have to watch past 3:00, as I ran the Python Installer before figuring out how to get Blender running. However, when I tried to create the shortcuts it created shortcuts for EVERYTHING. I fixed this by deleting all the shortcuts it created and right-clicking on the desktop and going to new>shortcut and in browse I went to computer>local disk>Program Files (x86)/Blender/Blender. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial, and Blender completley works for me now.

when you go to download python, make sure you download python 2.6.3 or lower, even though blender is cross-platform, windows has made some adjustments that affect the blender install... you can find this information on the blender site.

@Firestar1234561 there is a bug in the downloader that for some reason even though it downloads the python 2.6 dll it doesn't actually recognize it and then says it wasn't downloaded. trying to figure out a solution to this. go search google for any forums that people may have posted in with a solution to the problem

@zoidschica21 There seems to be an error with the python downloader and also for the Visual C++ Redistributable package because every time I install it it says it wasn't installed properly. I've done some reading on the web and a lot of people are having the same problem. Trying to figure it out, but it's not going so well.

@dslink2009 that happened to me too. so i downloaded the first blender on the page and then python 2.6.2 by using the search on python.org. Idk if that's a great python or not but it complied. the blender should definetly work if you click the installation on the top left of the blender download page though.

The 64-bit version will work on 32-bit until a specific 64-bit command is needed.

This video will work on 32-bit up until a certain point where 64 is needed, although blender may not have any 64-bit commands.

The 32-bit version will work, until there is a 16-bit command, which a 64-bit proccessor can't handle, and 32-bit can.

Python is optional. it provides more flexibility with Blender. 32 bit blender isn't compatible on 64 bit vista, because of 16 bit apps within blender, and the 3d render engine. 32 bit and 64 bit are different operating systems.
