  • Hi @jaredhill I have been trying to do this for days. This tutorial is great, but what size are your images pixels width, height and resolution? or does iPhoto resize them? I have wasted many discs only to find that my text is pixelated and so are my images? I originally had large files but then I resized them to 720 x 480. I need my slideshow to show on a large flat screen TV. Any help would be grateful to stop me from losing my mind.

  • Great Video, I was going to do another search on how to add video and still images. Great work thank you very much.

  • Thanks so much for this video, this helped me out so much. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure it out. Than I was like Duhhh youtube. lol

  • Thanks for the video, i am trying to make a slideshow for my friends, and this video helped me a lot. :):)

  • Great video!!

  • Hi, I made a photo slideshow on iMovie and tried importing it into FCPX, but only the video clips showed up and in place of the photos there was a red triangle with an exclamation point in the center of it. Do you know how I can import everything?

  • @jeradhill hi, how do you add a banner like thingy on the bottom to describe a picture? I can't seem to "mix" the banner and the picture together...

  • Your an amazing tutor!!!! Love your vid !!!!!

  • WOW thanks a bunch!! Super job!

  • Wow very well done ...easy to follow thanks for posting ...just purchased FCPX this iz very helpful !

  • in final cut pro how do you make the photos last for a shorter amount of time??????

  • Is there any way to burn a slideshow in a dvd with amazing quality??

  • Hey, great tutorial! question mate: Can you add random transitions for all the photos? Say I don't want the same transition between each photo, but I don't want to manually insert a different transition for my 500 picture-slideshow. Is this in any way possible?

  • Hi Blueandred, I don't know off of the top of my head how to change the letterbox color but I know that you can throw down a solid object and color it however you wish to cover the entire background including that would be letterboxed.

  • I don't believe you can archive your install to a disc. However you can always download it again from the app store if you need to.

  • Hi, Jeradhhill, if I buy this software on apple apps (by the way I am using apple desktop) is it possible to save this final cut pro x on cd to have a back-up copy? Or is it also possible to load once I buy in mu other mac book pro. pls appreciate your response. thanks

  • @blueandred2k9 So you havent got a response from this guy, but you have got me :-) JK.... I'll answer your second question first, as far as I am aware, just like with iPhone applications, if you buy on one computer, then you can re-download, for free, the same application on all machines. As for your first question, I run this piece of software off an external hard disk... This was just a simple drag and drop onto the HDD. It should work on a CD, but there is always a back up copy in the cloud.

  • how do you change the background colour (letterbox) from the default black?

  • Hello Jerad, Sorry for the Z's. That wasn't intentional and was done by error because I couldn't get the text to show at first in the post box so I did a test with Z's and the next thing here it was posted. Since then I found out how to remove a post. Again great job and hope you can answer some of my questions posted here. Thanks Bill

  • Hi Jerad -

Downsampling from iPhoto or Aperture into iMovie has been adding unwanted pixilation.

Pro X clearly is doing ok with basic slide shows, and it says it will import from former iMovie projects. Does it have Ken Berns affects like iMovie - or what happens if that is imported?

Can it pull from Aperture too or just iPhoto?

  • @robertsIPlegal I am not sure. I have Aperture but have not yet tried this. It seems that there is no downsampling of photos when I pull them from iPhone. I wouldn't pull them from iPhone if the Import feature set the image time length like it should. Hopefully apple with fix these little annoyances over time.

  • Hello Jerad, Thanks for your excellent FCPX tutorial and making a slideshow. I moved from PCs to Macs a little over 1 1/2 years ago and previously I used Proshow Producer to build sophisticated slideshows with animated layers of texts, photos and movie clips for my clients. Since then I have been using Fotomagico Pro (excellent) alongside with Mac's Keynote and iMovie 11. Have you tried making a slideshow with multiple animated layers of test, photos and movie clips in FPCX? Thanks Bill

  • @WRussell345 I'm confused. Did my tutorial put you to sleep then prompt you to ask a question?

  • Hi. All you have to do is select Import from the File menu and import a video clip. Then drag the video clip into the timeline where you want it to appear. Thats it! You can include photos and video in the timeline easy. I should do another video showing this.

  • @jeradhill Thanks for the easy to follow vid, i'm trying to make a wedding video for my brother that includes clips as well, be great to see another one of your tutorials on this if you find the time.

  • @Filmboxaus Sorry I meant a slideshow movie that includes clips :P

  • @Filmboxaus I should have that video up shortly.

  • hi how i include a video clip in my timeline? thanks for your help

  • @planks29 I am working on a video showing just that.

  • @planks29 I posted a new video to my channel on that topic. I actually did it a while ago, sorry for not updating this comment.
