Nintendo wanted to make a cd based console, so they partnered up with Sony to make it, but they were also working on the N64 at the same time, the 2 projects proved to be too costly and since CD based cosoles weren't doing so well anyway, they dropped the playstation and went with the project that they knew was going to do well. And Sony finished the playstation.
the 2 biggest mistakes Sony made with the ps3 at launch is no ps2 compatibility for later models and the high price tag this almost had me converting over to XBOX

random fact: playstation was only created because sony planned to make an add-on to the snes (nintendo console) but nintendo wanted more profit or something, so the conpanies split :D

You could fit almost infinite pixels into an image, and it wouldn't matter because the human eye is only capable of so much... I just have a bad feeling that the next generation of consoles is gonna be....um...

@MCLR1990 I have to strongly disagree with you. You could have easily said that about the PS2, PS1, SNES, NES, etc, that things couldn't get much better than what those last systems pumped out. You're probably not a PC gamer like I am. You should see how much more powerful the current graphics cards for PCs are vs. these outdated 5-6 year old PS3s and 360s. I hope the next-gen consoles have a large jump in technical prowess and eye candy.
@MCLR1990 Well I think the next gen will push graphics we have now to more games looking smoother and more realistic animations, and playing smoother, on top of more processing power to make it possible. More refinement than a next evolution. Because movie level animation is far too expensive, and even if digital film making is "cheaper", they still cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. which is fine by me, if I see more games like Dead Space 2 and God of War 3 ill be happy.
Just remember that these are videos that make the console/thing look bad. I could take Super Mario Brothers 3 and make it look like shit. But this is so funny

WRONG!
Nintendo wanted to make a cd based console, so they partnered up with Sony to make it, but they were also working on the N64 at the same time, the 2 projects proved to be too costly and since CD based cosoles weren't doing so well anyway, they dropped the playstation and went with the project that they knew was going to do well. And Sony finished the playstation.

I have owned all Sony home consoles (PS1, 2 and 3), but i truly don't like the company. Only owned the consoles cause Sony with their monetary muscles got third parties to develop exclusively for their platforms. I dream of the day real videogame companies rule the videogame bizz again.

@ronnano Yeah, I mean they have the leading console, which is by far the most popular (and the best, in my opinion). 'Ruling' isn't so much about third party suppost as much as it is sales of consoles, which the company gain a direct profit from. :P Some devs are worried about the PS4, not sure why.
random fact: playstation was only created because sony planned to make an add-on to the snes (nintendo console) but nintendo wanted more profit or something, so the conpanies split :D

@nerdydesi Graphically (visually, at least) I don't think it can really get much better than what the PS3 is already capable of. You could fit almost infinite pixels into an image, and it wouldn't matter because the human eye is only capable of so much... I just have a bad feeling that the next generation of consoles is gonna be....um...
Gimmicky.
Still, kinda awesome how far we've come so quickly. And I can only hope and pray that the PS4 conference is as hilarious as this.

@MCLR1990 I have to strongly disagree with you. You could have easily said that about the PS2, PS1, SNES, NES, etc, that things couldn't get much better than what those last systems pumped out. You're probably not a PC gamer like I am. You should see how much more powerful the current graphics cards for PCs are vs. these outdated 5-6 year old PS3s and 360s. I hope the next-gen consoles have a large jump in technical prowess and eye candy.

@MCLR1990 Well I think the next gen will push graphics we have now to more games looking smoother and more realistic animations, and playing smoother, on top of more processing power to make it possible. More refinement than a next evolution. Because movie level animation is far too expensive, and even if digital film making is "cheaper", they still cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. which is fine by me, if I see more games like Dead Space 2 and God of War 3 ill be happy.
