When is the next lot of Gunner courses? Thinking of joining up but my fitness is not up to standard yet. I would like to have an idea of when the courses run, thanks.
the raf gunner advert in the brochures seems like such a tool for luring youngsters into false hopes. it says they will need to be able to operate quad bikes and motorcycles. some youngsers will think they will get to drive fancy vehicles. the brochures for the cannon fodder jobs are just tools used to lure people in. the reality is you will be on foot all the time as it costs the mod nothing. you'll be lucky to get a gun that doesn't break down every 5 mins. the equipments worn out loads
im thinking of joining the raf regt and i love the idea of it after watching these videos ect but not to sure on what to expect day in day out whats a standard days work for a raf regt gunner and once im a raf regt gunner , is that it or can i transfer or do courses for other jobs?
I'm ex-148 battery, 29 commando RA (30+ Years ago) My lad is serving with 1 Sqn, My views where that the RAF Regt was plastic, I now know that I was way of target and have found that they are a highly tuned fighting machine. Respect from an old RA Gunner.
Great video series, im really intrested in joining RAF Regiment and any advice from anyone currently serving or has served would be much appreciated, Whats the minimum standard in the bleep test for 18 year old?
what are the minimum no for the basic RAF fitness. i just want to check because i think i passed when i did it with the cadets but stil have those niggling doubts!!
I passed my PGAC and got offered a place on the october intake but turned it down.Going to apply for the next intake. Anyone attending a future PGAC good luck with it and keep your fitness high, dont bull-shit about doing the 3 miler if you know you cant, because you will look like a cock infront of everyone just like the people on my PGAC did who werent fit enough. Hopefully in a year or so be a gunner myself. Good luck all
ive applied to the regiment, i passed the selection tests, but i failed my interview because im not fit enough yet.... any tips for me so i can getfit... whats the hardest physical test they got in basic training?
@laughingjokerchris RUN, PRESS UPs, SIT UPs like your life depends on em. These 3 alone, will have you super fit if you have the desire. Dont need gyms, or weights or fuck all, just the big three as stated. You can build yourself as big as a bus but it wont help you on the runs, and you will be running everywhere, all the time.
i am thinking of joining the RAF as a regiment gunner in the near future. but the only part i think i might fail is the eye test because my right eye isnt too good but my left eye is very good. do u think this might stop me from passing?
hi paul ive been at raf honington for about a month now started off with el-alamein but now on cascino )-8 well pissed off but i guess i did need the education lol and at least when i go back on another flight i would have some experience wells cya
These are really awesome videos goody keep them comin
i need to ask you a question about the raf reg if u culd answer it m8 that would be awesome..... what is the minimum years service you need to do in the raf reg?
hey Goody. I've been watching a lot of your vids and thinking about joining the RAF for a while now. I have my first interview at my local AFCO this april. Im really concerned that I wont get in or be able to handle the physical fitness side of the Regiment training. Any advice?
Be yourself, don't lie or make up excuses it's more your personality they are looking up. This is from what i heard, Physical training instructors will help you through training.
been watchin all the vids, i enjoy them all, i want to be in the RAF one day, the fitness stuff would probably rule out my chances, i just neeed to work on upper body strength more, keep the good vids up
Thanks alot Goody and the RAF for these videos,I bike 6 miles day to six form and I think I may need to do more! Please keep these videos up. I find them really intresting and may be walking down to RAF recuitment centre in the future. Best wishes to Goody and all your squaddies!
did u have to ask permision to do this i am just wondering becuase i would like to start a video diary of myself getting fir for the raf
Deaksvidz 2 months ago
@Deaksvidz he got asked to do it, to encourage people to learn and maybe join the Regt
KingsofSparta 18 hours ago
@Deaksvidz We asked Goody to do the diary as part of a project, he was already in the RAF Regt when we asked him.
There's nothing to stop you doing your own video diary, but it would be your own project and nothing to do with the RAF.

Whats the bleep test requirements in the RAF Regiment? i know army and marines but i want to know if the Regiment is different or not?
KingsofSparta 3 months ago
@KingsofSparta The RAF Regt use a 1.5 mile run rather than the MSFT, although it is included in the training.
Details of the fitness required can be found on the RAF Careers website.

is it possible to join the royal maries after sevin some time as a gunner?
XXXXXXmaggotXXXXXX 1 year ago
@XXXXXXmaggotXXXXXX Hi there, you'd have to ask the Marines that directly. Maybe your local AFCO could help as they cover all three forces?
royalairforce 1 year ago
@royalairforce yes u can
sniperbrook 6 months ago
@XXXXXXmaggotXXXXXX no that woukd be a waste of raf resources then have to be retrained as a commando but do ask to double check
