  • i love how the customer thinks she knows how the register and keypad works, yet has probably never worked at mcdonalds. What makes her think she knows their perspective when she has never lived it? Dumb bitch.

  • when I used to work fast food, if the card didn't swipe, you couldn't use it. We couldn't manually type in the numbers either. Why not just get a new card and make life easier? Or better yet don't use credit to pay for your greasy ass bigmac. The people who work there and use the machines every minute know more about the system than you do. As for the whole glove thing, those types of tricks do work, dumb cow.

  • i used to work at mcdonald's, and customers like you were pretty much the bane of my existence. the machine doesn't work that way. although there is a keypad, we can't punch the numbers in. that's used in case someone uses a debit card, so they can type in their code. i can call my manager over all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that the thing doesn't work that way.

  • where i work, if a card's # must be manually entered for whatever reason, we're also required to make an old-school imprint of the card onto a carbon copy, fill several fields out, and have the customer sign it. so there are additional steps and paperwork.

    hence, i agree with Dhesyca; and i don't think the video is funny or clever... though both the customer & the employee(s) seeming like idiots might be realistic!

  • I currently work at Kmart. When we get a card that does not swipe we are able to type in the numbers manually, but it is a pain in the butt because on top of this we then need to get out that giant, old school, card swiper from the 1960's so it prints the card numbers on paper for us. The reason we have it is in case someone tries to sue Kmart for a stolen credit card number I suppose. Anyway, it is a pain in the butt and takes a long time. Customers should just get new cards.

  • Note to everyone: Many places now, debit, and especially credit, we aren't even allowed to put numbers in manually and where I work, the old way we used to manually input numbers, that function has been disabled. So when someone says they can't manually put in your card number, they aren't making that shit up.

  • If you have a problem at every location, why don't you get a new card. And how does anyone know if you stole someones credit card number and made up a card. Do you mind if I say stop being a pain in the ass and just get a new card. The call is free. The card is free. The postage is free.

  • Theres a process with every card reader, their different at almost every place, i know at mine theres no way to manually insert a card number, it has to read the chip on the card. But of course the customer is always right, NOOOOOT, moron.

  • @GogotteandSig all the credit card machines are the same. the machines at the front of the store at the counter have keypads because some people use debit cards and they have to type their pin number in themselves. there isn't a special keypad-less card swiper made especially for the drive-thru. if there were, it would make the employees' lives a lot easier.

  • I worked at a McDonalds drive-thru for about 2 weeks (couldn't take it... omg...)

    If I remember, that key pad on the swipe machine itself is useless (at least, the card-reader device was separate from the registers at the McDonalds location I was at. Not sure if this holds true everywhere..). The employee actually has to hit a button on the touch-screen register and type it in there... but that would require 2 seconds of extra training, and by god, we can't have that.
