  • Excellent adventure there Chris.

  • @briffster - Thanks Mate it sure was

  • Now that is an adventure matey! :-)

  • @TrekkingBritain it sure was...cheers bud..stay tuned

  • Great vid Chris...that wind looked wicked for sure! Looked like a long night! Cheers.

  • @ArmyStinger150 it certainly was, bad enough to snap my tent into pieces ;-)

good knowledge learnt from it though

    tak it easy Bro

  • Great vid matey nice views:O)

  • @CrazyJase74 - Cheers Jase

  • Ohhhh Terra Nova deceased!!. OMG, I'm truly sorry about ya tent mate but i cant help laughing at you putting their reputation right out the window. I'm itching to pitch me Avior X2 up there now just for the craic lol. Beautiful video from gods back garden. The view at 3 mins and 8 secs has to be worth the tent damage alone. Happy days mate. Excellent stuff, im liking this channel......LOTS. ian

  • @KittchenSink - Well i sent it back to them and they have beefed it up with a thicker / stronger pole, change the door slighly and a couple of other mods free of charge, that was the first time i was out in the tent, i only bought it 12 weeks before, so they redeemed themselves a bit

like you said it was worth it just for that picture alone

  • mmmm that "syitaak" looked nice!

  • @sgtcrane160871 - Cheers mate, i have another recent wild camp i did last month also uploaded 'Blencathra wild camp', check this one out too

  • Great Video Chris, Loads of fun

  • @lenny7247 - It certainly was Lenny, a few new things learned as well so everyone is a winner

  • Great video mate, sorry bout the tent but yeah we get some real weather out here.

I live near ennerdale village and we had some real bad winds the past week or so, so I'm amazed you guys were up there and tbh I think you got some of the worst winds we have had over the past 24 months or so.

Still I hope to see more of you guys crazy adventures, maybe even see you out and abouts :D

  • @CragScrambler - I wished i lived in ennerdale mate...save all the petrol money from driving up to the lakes everytime, but then again im only 1 1/2 hours away, which i dont mind becuase i just love going to the lakes

im that sad i'd rather spend a week in the lakes exploring than a week in the carribean :-) but that's just me

  • Cracking video mate with some really great stills, well done.

Some interesting points made by other viewers and i could witter on for ages on them..but I wont.

Have been battered like that before so well done on getting the camera out. The times when you want to least video are the best times to video. Good on you!

Want an extreme tent thats stood the test of time? Check out the one we use, and have for years. Its never let us down and has been subject to everything in the Lakes! :- >TTFN

  • @MickGeraghty - Cheers Mick, i was looking at your when i watched your vids..its a eurohike isnt it ?

Terra Nova have said they are replacing everything free of charge PLUS everything they are putting back on including the pole, Door latch to keep the door zip from riding up will be much sturdier..from the Terra Nova Laser Tent which is slightly heavier, but as long as it doesnt cnap on me again...im happy

  • Hi Chris, great video there! What camera and lens did you use for the stills?

    Ron

  • That it? Some cord broke free? Tent pole bend? That's nowt ;) LOL Nice vid

  • @terrybnd - Not bad though for my first time taking it out..wrecked :-), the company i bought it from send send it back...so dont know if they replace the pole or not...if not i will just buy another i guess

  • Ben Fogle could have made an episode of 'Extreme Dreams' out of this one :D. "How light can you go before...?" is a good question. After lugging 4kg tents up mountains we shift to lightweight tents to make incline treks more enjoyable but can ditch the stability that robust ones have specifically on mountain tops. One solution is two guys split carrying one robust 2 man mountain tent and then both sleeping in the same tent. For solo trekking though, the issue still isn't solved.

  • @0rigiin - I know what you mean mate

  • Fantastic video. Attempted to do Gable on Easter Sunday from Wasdale but the car broke down on the M6 and when we finally got there it was gone 3 in the afternoon - not a good time to start a mountain unless you want to come down it in the dark. Looked at the map and not sure which route to take - which do you recommend. I am thinking of starting from Seathwaite though as opposted to Wasdale. Not had chance to get up lately because of the rotten weather. Once again great vid - love it :)

  • @Avalon041167 - Cheers Pal, I haven't walked from wasdale yet so couldn't tell you

If you do go from seathwaite farm..there is some stunning views guaranteed plenty of routes online to choose from

check out my blencathra wild camp vid..that has better views as the weather was spot on

    cheers

  • @chris25119600 Have walked from Seathwaite before to do Scafell Pike but left it too late on in the day to continue so did some Great End instead. It is stunning around there along the Corridor Route and we managed to do Scafell Pike a week later via Piers Gill from Wasdale. I want to do Gable and Blencathra soon - had enough time now to recover from Helvellyn & Striding Edge in mid April. I will watch the vid of Blencathra

  • class video, what camera equipment do you use?

There is a remembrance day service on the summit of Great Gable at the War Memorial every year, very moving.Hope to see you guys one day on the fells (i live about 20 min away)

  • @kinkenny7 - I use a Nikon D5000, i only used my standard 18-55mm lens on it, nly shoots 720p maximum so i will be purchasing a seperate FULL HD camcorder, and just use my DSLR for stils

Check out my blencathra wild camp vid, captured some stunning sunsets / sunrises on it

hope to see you out there as well some day

  • Thanks Chris for the link to my video account of out journey and thats some high definition Steak :)

  • @daveswildcamping - No Problem Dave..anything to get are vids promoted

  • Well filmed mate, just shows how the weather changes, shame about the damage to the tents, Dave came to Snowdonia and we wildcamped after he had been rescued from Crib Goch, we had a great time. Good laugh. Great vid mate:-)

  • @007vauxhall - Cheers mate, he told me the story of Crib Goch on the way to the summit of great gable

  • Awesome video Chris! Man that was pretty intense when the wind came! How was breathing up there? I'm glad you all made it safe, now you need to go to K2! :) Cheers Chris! Keep up the awesome work, You need to work for National Geographic!

  • @LouieTactical - Cheers Louie, im going again next week sometime (fingers crossed) not to the same place but wild camping..so should have another uploaded by the end of next weekend

i dont think my work is good enough for national geographic!!!, its not serious just showing people what i love doing..

  • I was ontop of Dale Head on Friday and if I wasn`t 16 stone, I reckon I`d have been blowing round like a carrier bag! It was proper windy!!

  • @cowpat1979 LOL i know mate..it was the same for us 3

  • Great vid dude,

was thinking of buying a terranova laser laser comp 1.After watching u'r vid and reading the blogs.Seriously considering buying an akto now, probably next payday,in a fortnight.

Just been on Amazon £400,that seems like a bargain. It's great to watch the footage, cause, that's what matters, not the adverts.Nice one Chris I've learn't a lot from u'r vid. It's finally becoming obvious, what tent to purchase next.

    Cheers dude

  • @kilburnicus - To be honest when mine and daves were pitched next to each other, you can see the Hilleberg does have better attention to detail, i know that's why you probably pay more for it

to Be Honest it was a mixture of a few things

    Unusual high winds

Tent only being able to be pitched side on into the wind

limited points to peg down the tent

it took 45-50 mins to get the tent set up, and usually it only takes 5 mins on flat ground

so its not that the tent is bad it a was a mixture...

  • blimey that camp site looks very bad lads . it is wats is allabout i surrpose .

  • @kissmyarse666 - Yes it was pretty bad, we knew it was hard before we left, but sometimes that's the beauty of it, we could have easily jumped onto Kirk Fell next to Great Gable which was like a bowling green and had a water source as well which Great Gable doesn't

  • Classic stuff mate that steak steals the show dont you think haha, good work on the vid for having limited footage well put together you must have spent ages doing it, fine trip we had wish i had spent more time when we first got up there taking video and pics on the top before heading lower to the camp spot.

  • @daveswildcamping - it certainly does Dave, i had to get it in the outtake, i spent all day yesterday on it, i added a few extra pictures to it, to beef it up as i only had a few minutes worth of footage, are you uploading one ?? would love to see that camcorder in action, i will defiantly look into one of them

  • Excellent hike and camp video, the photos are amazing. glad you were able to get out there and enjoy it.

  • @ihikearoundcom - Cheers, even though the tent got battered, a pole and a few guy lines can be replaced at the end of the day

so it isnt all that bad

  • A great vid Chris and what a top place for a wild camp mate. I am surprised that we all walked away with our tents to be honest. Must do again soon!

  • @chriscox303 Cheers mate, it has to be one of the hardest to pitch a tent on as the options are so few

definitely up for another one...I'd go again tomorrow

  • Another cracking vid

  • @martinianbrown - Thanks martin

  • uuhhh, what a sound! I like it! Soul song of the land there :o)...

Oh yes, that makes one feel with your tent - been there too!

    Greetings, Tim

  • @steintanz - Cheers, we made the best of a bad pitch, and was lucky to get all 3 tents pitched up there

it was pretty difficult just to get the pegs into the ground

  • Nice video!

  • @northender2006 - Thanks mate

  • A very well put together video, good choice of music sets the video off well. Enjoyable watch looks like I missed a good windy night lol

  • @themuss28 - Cheers Paul, you certainly did mate, we all mentioned your vid when you are getting smacked in the face by your tent, and the look on your face !!

  • Great video, just goes to show its not all plain sailing.

  • @northender2006 - Cheers, Sometimes its better going for the harder pitch

  • Comment removed

  • @chriscox303 - managed to walk away with them but not necessarily in one piece !!!! :-)

  • awesome views, and great looking tents, those tents took a beating for sure snapping the shock cords. to bad about the poles and sack thnx for sharing

  • @TheOutdoorsmanJoe - Cheers mate
