  • Be careful if you are in the UK and change the locale settings so the date is in dd/mm/yyyy format. The gadget does not take this into account and you'll end up with some very strange charts indeed! wasted a lot of time.

  • Sirfracis - Highlight the column, click on the "Format" menu then choose "Number." In that menu, choose "Percent Rounded." If this does not resolve it, we will need to see how you set up your sheet in order to identify where you need to make corrections. Please contact us at support@viewpath.net if the issue persists.

  • Hmm, the thing with the %complete automatically working out the Average, it doesn't seem to work for me.

  • Very nice. Instructions are easy to follow. Pace is just right to understander the basic idea.

  • Cool tool. Wishing for a way to highlight today's date, show vertical divider line at start of month, and other options. Next version, as part of Settings?

  • Thank you for posting the video -- it was very helpful to watch you setup a gaant chart.

  • Great stuff. I will be using this extensively!

  • 10/6/08 - Google changed the interface on the spreadsheet. This video shows you to add the Gadget by clicking on the Add icon which is no longer there. With the new interface, click on "Insert" then choose "Gadget."

  • I tried the gadget before learning about this video. While I was able to create a working Gantt chart without it, the video clued me in to several features I had missed. This gadget is a clever way to take advantage of Google Docs spreadsheet. Unfortunately, when you export, you get only the spreadsheet, not the chart. But it's still a grat collaboration tool. Thanks, ViewPath!

  • This tool is really useful. It makes sharing project details a snap. Everyone gets to see the chart and update their items.

Make sure you use the %complete column and it will show the items that are "late" in red and others in blue.

  • I am in Brazil. I could not see the Gantt Gadget in the Featured list. I wrote to support and they told me to use the "Custom" link on the left and enter this URL:

    It worked great.

  • Very cool!

I checked with Viewpath Support to see if it's possible to color-code tasks, and they let me know right away that while that isn't possible at this point, the color of the task will change depending on status: red if they are late, green if they are pending, and black if they are completed.

  • Wow! What a cool gadget! This is a great tool for getting a visual overview of a project schedule.

    Great job!
