  • There's a easier way to do it :) I have a 91 brumby n I recently replaced both front shafts, you don't need to take out the bearing housing ( or stub axle holder or whatever you wanna call it) saves an extra fee minutes,

  • There is a 5mm rollpin holding the joint onto the trans. Knock it out and the inner control arm bolts and you should be able to get the shaft off allowing you to move the trans back.

I always did clutches by pulling the motor out though, can have a carb 1800 sube motor out in under an hour, and no rolling around on your back trying to wrangle 100lb of transmission!

  • gday mate. i have got the same car and currently trying to replace my clutch. can i just ask how you remove the joint from the transmission? is there a pin that has to be removed? i only need to remove one end to pull the transmission back, so does this mean i need to have the wheels off the ground (and removed)?

    thanks

  • I wanna know how is this helping me or anyone else

  • @dolc27 Just like nearly everything on youtube, it does neither!

  • wow this guy moves so fast

  • I appriciate the efforts by all of you posting videos, anyway. It helps me understand better and see things for free.

  • Putting the camera a little closer would have given me a better idea about how to do it myself.

  • Maybe, but it wasn't intended as a 'how to' video.

It's a pretty straightforward process, but there is a couple of different ways it is approached depending on which bolts can be undone or not. Your car may be completely different in which steps are taken to change the shaft.

  • good job

  • Slow down!!!!

  • where can we find a mechanic that moves that fast?

  • what are the symptoms of bad cv joint pls?

  • Usually a tick/clunk when making turns. This one had a lot of grease coming out and I chose to replace the whole shaft rather than just the boot.

  • Well, after replacing that and the bearing in my wheel. Do you think that would stop my car from shaking (as if I were driving on a really bumpy road) when i'm driving? Or is that a whole different deal?

  • where did u get that red T-shirt?

    comes with the cv joint?

    thats all i saw!!

    thanks

  • Is it difficult to do? I have to replace the CVjoint (drivers side) on my 97 mercury mystique (4cyl)and I've never done it before.

  • stupid

  • Nobody cares!

  • How much is a new CV joint?

  • I think I pad about $200aud for this one, but was a new joint with no reco parts. Purchased from Repco.

  • That would be absolutley awsome if u could actually work that fast!!!! LOL
