  • This ending is PERFECT! It nicely leads up to the events of Episode IV, which makes sense as to why it's titled: "A New Hope". With most of the Jedi exterminated, Luke becomes the last hope to save the galaxy from Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious. However, I do find it kind of ironic that the Clonetroopers (who obviously become the Stormtroopers) killed most of the Jedi with little to no problem, yet they were defeated by Ewoks in Episode VI, lol.

  • Stupid Hayden Christensen, that scene was brilliant,James Earl Jones and his work was brilliant. But nyo Hayden just had to do the whole raise-arms-look-at-the-sky crap.

Really even a motion to be on the knees, banging the floor would've been better than that.

  • @Warriorcats64 You know it's not like Hayden directed the scene, Im pretty sure if Lucas thought the scene was trash he would have done it over. IF your that mad blame him.

Honestly I thought they should have had him be a little more violent after the "Noooo" cry. Force crush some droids, tossing things all over the place and stuff. That would have gave a since of real anger and regret. But leaving the scene like that felt cheesy.

Maybe in SW trilogy Remake 20 Hyper Blue Ray edition.

  • anakin was tricked not his fault its all siddious so stop pointing fingers at anakin and point them at sidious

  • I always hated the part when Padme dies. She's has been my favorite female in Star Wars

  • Died of being heart broken...so sad, she loved him and it killed her knowing she was going to lose him to the dark side...

  • aww thats so sad, its like baby luke knew his mother died :'(

  • 5:30 "Captain Antillies" so is that Wedge's Father? Because Wedge is Luke's age...

  • @Flopsy1997 yes

  • Worse delivery ever, watched by people you don't know and done by a robot.

  • @LordDrakull2 I'm a Clone Trooper! :D

  • What Anakin was seeing in his dreams was him killing Padme in his anger. Those visions were made by Sidious. Sidious showed Anakin in his dreams the visions of Anakin's doing if he joins Sidious. Anakin was tricked.

  • cool anikan have no skin and gross that padme was giving birth

  • Padme's death is so sad, really. She tried so hard, and yet in the end, EVERYTHING she has ever worked for in her ENTIRE LIFE just went up flames - Anakin, democracy, the Republic, her people, the Jedi, her children, and even her own life.

Anakin on the other hand - he tried so hard to save his love, so much that he gave into the Dark Side. And yet in the end, he failed so hard - his wife is dead, his body crippled, and he is enslaved to the Dark Side for the rest of his life.

    Sad isn't it?

  • 6:27 it is so sad =(

  • Padme was and Anakin were my 2 fav characters! AHHH thats star wars for you!

  • Comment removed

  • @zmarsella Actually, Padme was 14 during Episode 1. Anakin was 8 years old. Episode 2 took place a decade after Episode 1, which Anakin was 18 and Padme was 24. I think Episode 3 took place 2 or 3 years after Episode 2, but Pademe was in her mid-20s rather than "Teen Mom".

  • sometimes i forget how GOOD the music is!

  • what are the symptoms of losing the will to live?

  • 2.39 yoda's like can this day get any worse lol

  • I Love Hayden Christensen, he is such an amazing actor! <3

  • i remeber when she was giving birht and dying, you heard a lot of people crying. it was so sad

  • Poor Anakin if you really think about it he had a rough ROUGH life... =/

  • There should be more stuff being crushed when Darth Vader gets mad.

  • How do you lose the will to live?

  • SHE'S LOST THE WILL TO LIVE!?!?!?! What, do they have a degree in poetry?! You sorry bunch of hippies! For God's sakes don't use the billions of dollars of medical equipment around you. Well how about we just get on our knees and pray. WE DON'T HAVE KNEES YOU MOTHER***KERS!!!!

    -Dr. Ball M.D.

  • at 3:24, after Anakin askes "Where is Padme, is she alright" Palpatines face is like "uhhhhh about that...."

  • y is she like still pregnant at the funeral.....?o_-

  • @Lizette54321 Obi-Wan and Yoda wanted to hide the twins from the empire. So, what they did was to ask the Kallidahin (the CGI aliens in the background) to make it looks as though Padme died before giving birth, taking the twins along.

  • The music stops, and he takes his first breath as Darth Vader.

    Fuckin' EPIC.

  • in all honesty the writing here was weak, plotless & terrible

it would have been more heartbreaken and belivable if padme had died from a medical condition or child bearing that went wrong due to circumstances like stress, shock or depression........but no she lost the will to live,

    its kind of silly.

padme has more reasons to live after giving birth to 2 beautiful kids, her dying because because she doesnt want to live anymore was an EPIC FAIL ON GEORGE LUCAS PART

  • it's better with headphones :/

  • Even with the volume all the way up you can barely hear the music. Dialogue is still there but overall it's still too low.

  • @n0rdeck52 I can hear everything at middle volume setting. Probably its due to my 5.1 set. When i did rip and convert the video everything was fine but once uploaded to youtube the volume greatly decreased for some weird reason.

  • @brkozler I can hear it with low sound on and i have a low sound headset :P

  • it give me the chills wen i see annakin burn and emotional couz padme dies it so sad f*ck anakin he chocked her and den he just sad couz padme dies like HE kares stupid anakin

  • You see at the end lukes aunt looks so hot when she's younger :D

  • So...she lost the will to live?

    Um...

Mother of the year I guess considering she didn't seem to think of her children.

    Jeez.

  • @FlammaMan haha

  • Comment removed

  • @ritzadee It's also called "Not abandoning your two children."

  • this is one of the saddest and best scenes in the whole movie!

the funeral, vaders first breath, & 6:58 give me chills!

  • @FlammaMan Put yourself in her shoes, her hubby just tried to kill her and now he is a crispy french fry. What would you think

  • @Reven857 "You know, I should have the will to live, you know, for my two children who will never know the love of their real mother if I just give up now, but good thing that isn't going to happen, because that'd be pathetic and cowardly characterization."

    Oh no, wait.

  • @Reven857 hahahahahah lol!!!!tats true and funny couz he is a crispy french fry

  • @FlammaMan It was obviously Anakin who gave her strength, he was most likely her rock, her soul mate. When you lose your other half, which Padme did when Anakin changed, it can be hard to life on with them. Yeah she had two children to look after but clearly she was capable of doing it alone!

  • @FlammaMan Well firstly, those stupid droids probably lied

And two if they didn't,it was easily a better option than letting her kids and herself constantly be hunted down by Sidious and perhaps Vader if he was not swayed.

This way her kids were safer

And she was probably killed by the force choke, connection to Anakin, the birth itself probably damaged some arteries after the droid spoke. Either way it's not unambiguous and she still isn't a bad mother

  • Hmm. A doctor ball would say something like

"SHE'S LOST THE WILL TO LIVE? What is your degree in POETRY!? for God's sake, don't use the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WE HAVE AROUND US! why don't we just get on our knees and pray? WE DON'T HAVE KNEES YOU MOTHERF**KERS!"

  • What's funny is that Qui-Gonn knew that he was the chosen one and no one believed him after this scene, but in the end he was still right.

  • Obi-Wan, I know.... there is.... still..... (Hope).

Star Wars Epidode IV : A New Hope... make that connection.

Somehow she knew that Anaikin wouild redemm himself eventually (Him killing Darth Sideous) which he did in episode VI. He was still the chosen one, even though he had turned to the dark side. He stilll brough balance to the force, but at the cause of him turning to the dark side.

  • jar jar is still a live ?

  • I cry all the times i see this movie...

  • This movie is so heartbreaking. Anakin died and Darth Vader was born when Padme died.

  • I remember watching this and thinking "WTF shes lost the will to live?! Someone get Dr. House in this bitch" lol

  • @AvA4EvR Whats crazy is when the first time I saw episode 1 (back in '99) somehow I knew she would die with that japet snippet thing in her hand. One thing killed the new trilogy esp. 2&3 was too much CGI

  • the sound is a crap !

  • @sergio0lau Did you try to turn up your volume?

  • @sergio0lau I agree with you, I have turn it all the way to max just to hear it.

  • @sergio0lau

    my sound works fine =D

  • did she die in birth

  • So poorly written and acted..the birth scene is just terrible.

  • when obi wan said "qui gonn" i almost shit myself

  • i hate hate hate hate how they make anikin darth vedar, i mean i know its a great twist but like... he was so amazing and gorjuss and sweet. i think they ruined it by doing that.

  • @jdoug0234 How is it a twist when it was common knowledge since the VERY FIRST MOVIE! I haven't watched Star wars at all and even I know Darth Vayder was always the villian.

  • Personally, I love both Star Wars trilogys. What now haters?

  • Alright, I know nothing about star wars, but at the beggining it Padme and Anakin? And then that guy getting surgery, is it Anakin?

  • She didn't die because she "lost the will to live". There was just so little time to save the twins that they didn't pay too much attention to why she was dying. In the books about the events that happened between Episodes III and IV, we see they did an autopsy on her body and they realized that there was a lot of damage in her throat. So, yeah, Anakin/Vader killed her.

  • whats that thing in padmes hand? in the funeral

  • @destructodisk my phone number.

  • @destructodisk it was the thing anakin gave her in episode 1

  • oh the drama. love it. =D

  • best story ever..has fun in it, good action, but still with great music is so sad for all that was lost at the end while anakin and padme had it all :,(,,,

  • are they sure its not the fact that vader severely damaged her wind pipe with that force choke?

  • so fucking sad

  • poor padme

  • It seems enormously unfair that one child gets to become royalty while the other becomes a farm hand.

  • @Ntyler01mil

well she wasnt royalty by birth, just adoption

  • Comment removed

  • @tallblondnloud I know. That's my point. They both should have been adopted by the same family or at least families of similar financial status.

  • Daaang. Owen is hawt!

  • lost her will to live? more like lost her only reason to live...

  • how could the Sith know that padme was dead?

  • Um this trilogy was still amazing! i mean why dont you just accept this is how the story began goodness,George lucas is genius! -why cant people be like the people from the 70's and accept it!-

  • all three movies had terrible scripts. i had no connection with any of the characters, much less pademe and anakin. he was angsty the entire time, all in the same breath, and she just cried. nothing else.her dying is random and his turning to the darkside would be too if we didn't already know it was going to happen. yawn feast.

i do like watching vader being assembled. he's such an iconic villain, his first breath is just chilling.

  • LOST THE WILL TO LIVE?!!!!?!?!!1!!!11!eleven!1

    ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!?!!?! OMFGWTFBBQ!

YOU HAVE TWO NEW BORN KIDS MUTHAFUCKA!!!

  • @shaantitus you dont need to swear its a SCRIPT A MOVIE she was told to say that and act like she dies :P

  • @brkozler I'm sorry mate but it's one of the most senseless scenes in Star Wars saga. I got too angry when I watched it again, sorry :P In my opinion Lucas lost the heart of the story telling in Episode 1-2 and 3. Original trilogy has much more soul in it.

  • @shaantitus well you know how it is said everything good doesn't last forever (original trilogy's awesomeness etc)

  • @shaantitus Ahahahahahahaa!! I thought the same thing!!! Maybe she shoulda died for some other reason than a broken heart, like... a broken neck! That works! He did just choke her, after all! :D

  • @shaantitus I take it that you've never heard of postpartum depression or death in childbirth.

  • @Ntyler01mil Hmmm I heard about that and as far as I know postpartun depression is not actually like this... It's more like a psychological process that would take longer time and would not contain an effect like remotely shutting down or damaging vital organs quickly like this. This movie's script intends to give a more senseless explanation. As an old Star Wars, I think Lucas insults viewers intelligence in new trilogy like this kind of scenes.

  • anyone know the name of the song that starts at 6:37?

  • omg I sobbed when I saw the necklace that Anakin gave her, in between Padme's hands

  • It was so sad when anakin was asking where padme is, and when the empreror said that he accidentally killed him, I could relate how heartbroken anakin was I mean you could almost feel his heart breaking

  • I can honestly say that I get all upset and sad when she dies, because the connection and bond these two amazing people had since they met. And everytime I watch this episode I think to myself "why" is everyone so greedy??

This relates to a problem we face today in this world.

It is the saddest thing ever...I want to cry at this scene if I'm really ina certain mood...

  • Comment removed

  • these scenes are so sad,

the bit where the emperor tells Darth vader that he killed her pains me, does choke you up,

but the emperor wasn't lying, anakin did kill padme with his vile deeds, it was too much for that little thing in the end.

  • i like how both Padme and Luke said there was good left in Anikin and both were right.

  • it was too late though, the metal bastard had ridden the galaxy of all good, and so took another 1000 years to repair

  • 1:46 - Is that small patches of Velcro stuck to the outside of the head of his helmet? I always wondered how the second part of the helmet was held on. : )

  • so whats after this episode??

  • poor padme

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • man... all the parts that were decent about revenge of the sith were single handedly ruined by Darth Vader's "noooooo" ...

    cant stand the prequels

  • i really like the scene in 7:58 the music its just too awesome

  • This movie is just so bad, and the entire prequel trilogy is also extremely bad. What was Lucas thinking?

  • She had lost the will to live. Aparently we have mastered space travel, advanced weponry, hover crafts, and many other advanced technology, but we still don't have the medical technology to keep her alive, or even give her a fighting chance.

  • Biologically, that's nonsense. But still makes for a great flick. ;)

  • Maybe if you're brain-dead. Like George Lucas.

  • No.

  • All that technology, and they can't even summon a decent pain killer. Pitty, isn't it?

  • They can master space travel, but they don't have the technology to keep her alive or even give her a fighting chance. They are way behind us.

  • I wonder how Darth Vader goes to the bathroom in that suit?

  • I wonder how Darth Vader bathes in that suit?

  • epic...

  • lol force choke, the new wife beater

  • @Infernoman48 LMBO

  • I am your father!

  • no your not!

  • I think the way they offed Padme was utter tripe. "Ew, I lost the will to live". Bah! This is the same girl who risks her life to save her planet right?

If she thinks there is still good in him, why does she not stay alive to save him, or even wait? Gosh, silly bitch. Plus I think the way they filmed the Mustafar duel sucked! There was no emotion, no Dun Moch in their fighting, just a mere display of swordplay. Only at the beginning and end did we see emotion. What an utter let down. Boo Hayden!

  • Dun Moch FTW!...SIdious used Dun Mock against the Jedi midget tho.

  • Yeah, its true. I still expected the Mustafar duel to be alot more like, say, the ROTJ duel, full of emotion and suspense. Rather it was like a fencing recital crossed with gymnastics practice. And it felt like it too

  • ahh, now that i watch the original trilogy, anakin should have mentioned his wife before he died. like, he said leia was right all along and he should have said "so was your mother" or something. it seems odd now that he didn't mention her at all when the reason he became vader was mainly because of her.

  • he probably didn't want to remember..

  • She died of a broken heart, its completely obivious. Didn't have the will to live.

  • Was that Jar Jar Binks at 6:07 or some random gungan ?

  • that was jar jar binks

  • Tragic but so awesome story. It's sad Anakin was so hard with Padmé at the end

  • Padme and Anakin is one of the most tragic love stories ever.. <3 if only if only..

  • Would you call it love?

  • This scene makes me cry everytime. Think, Anakin just wanted to save Padme.

  • well in fact he have seen the Future. XD

  • Bail Ogana instantly dies on Alderaan LOL

  • anyone know the name of the song that starts around 2:17?

  • I Dont Know Try Shazam (a free song name finder) or Midomi (same but with money but you can sing it in midomi) while you remove the voices to hear it! By the way these apps work if you have an iPod With an External Microphone from apple or if you have an iPhone

  • wow she had two babies in 38 seconds she's got skills!

  • Did u guys hear whatpadme said right before she died: "Obi-Wan, I know there is still good in him......" then she dies. Luke said the same thing, and succesfully brought him back to the good side. But Vaders equiptment didn't work so he died.

  • lol my bass loves that hear beat 0:26

  • i think i need to rewatch the films to fully get wat happened. The one with han solo and basicly everything after anikin becomes darth vader is gone now, except for famed bits like, luke i am your father, take off the mask and vader release him.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I think it was James Earl Jones' voice he usually denies it.

  • At 2:44-4:02 when Darth Vader is all suited up, I wonder if the actor was still wearing that face make-up under the helmet when they were making this scene. Someone tell me what they think. When they made this scene did he actually still wear that burnt make-up? Or was it back to a regular human actor face under it when the helmet was put on then. Cause I would imagine that it would be very uncomfortable with that over make-up and it could also ruin the inside of the mask while still wearing it.

  • No he wasn't. Is was just a plastic mask and he had no makeup on. Yes, it would be uncomfortable. By the way, the actor's name Hayden Christensen

  • Yeah, but the guy IN the suit in the originals is not Hayden Christensen. Thats another guy, but I forgot his name.

  • David Prowse

  • Obi-Wan needs a hug ='(

  • "Darth Vader borns!" lol...

  • padme dies =( she was fucken hot

  • Damn it padme is dead, the jedi are dead, and even the younglings, screw you Anakin ya stupid prick !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He wasnt always evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm sorry but what kind of man would murder his friends and his pregnant wife : (

  • Im sorry too, i just got a little out of hand there. I liked him better when he was younger sorry : )

  • Its ok XD he was very hansome when he was young

  • yeah ; )

  • A serial killer. Or a George Lucas-penned protagonist.

  • windu and yoda were right with that they shouldnt train anakin

  • Yes, yes they were!

  • Lol 1:18 "Oobah, oobah, oobah"

  • I remember when i watched this movie in the theaters it was complete silence from 1:47 to when Darth Vader takes his first breath in the mask. Everyone was like "Oooh snap there he is!"

  • now his the turn of starkiller

    (star wars the force unleashed)

  • anakin is death this is darth vader

  • pour padme ='(

  • The saddest part of the entire saga is when Padme dies. And when the Jedi are killed.

    She was totally innocent.

    Anakin totally pissed me off.

  • Anikan pissed you off blame Qui Gon he told Obi Wan to train Anikan and if Anikan would have never been trained Vader would have never been created the disaster would have never become

  • But at least Qui Gn had good intentions, Anakin could've done more and knew better than to go in league with Palpatine. He did it for selfish reasons.

  • I dont blame Qui Gon either but I woldnt say Anakin did it for selfish reasons, I know he did it because he didnt want to loose Padme but it isnt like he did it because he wanted to stop HIS death or something like that. He used to know better but Palpatine took advantage of his weaknesses and twisted his morals, he truly tought he was doing the right thing. Still wrong but his intentions werent

  • Actually they were quite selfish. He was willing to basically sacrifice the galaxy, the entire Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic, all for his woman. Thats pretty high on the selfish scale. He knew he was doing the wrong thing, he basically made a "deal with the devil"

  • @jaymacnewie Palpatine's grotesque appearance while he christened Anakin darth vader was symbolic he was selling his soul to the devil.

  • f'n love this music

  • I cry when she die

  • Me Too

  • i did to i think i cried when Ani was burning and Obi Wan was talking

  • wow darth alomost tore the ship apart

  • Natalie Portman is absolutely beautiful in Star Wars. John WIlliams and the London Symphony did an outstanding job with the soundtrack!

  • I think that's Vader going all apeshit and destroying everyone with his mind like he does in episodes 4,5, and 6
