@pureafricanqueen either he's becoming more popular...or those same 400 folks listened to the song a 500 times each. I can personally account for at leas 1200 views lol
im trying to get one of his albums ( everything comes & goes) but i guess itunes doesnt have it. no one here on youtube as it either :( does any one know what album im talking about? its a tribute to black sabbath
@elbocho19 try searching his live at lee's Palace album on a site like warez-bbdotcom or something:) it's not legal but I wouldn't know where to find his music otherwise...
and what do you mean with 'a tribute to Black Sabbath' ?:)
@koverm yo, thanks man. this other guy sent me a message. he found it in amazon but its an various artist album, but its a tribute to black sabbath "paranoid album" and four tet does a remix of "iron man" i heard while listing to pandora.
Devi leggerla.
i love this. i love music with a good drum beat and awesome sounds. this song has all the sounds i love in one. its so many different genres mashed in one. all the genres, sounds and melodies the composer loves all in one song. i love four tet.
What a beautiful music video. So I guess the live action bits were memories of the protagonist... who is a dead spirit in the afterlife? Well, that's what I got from this. I wasn't creeped out in the slightest (I guess since I've seen muchmuchmuch creepier things on youtube).
I have a questiona about the effect of technology on musical activities- is music going back into a more 2-dimensional 'thing' with the ever increasing use of technology, and is this technology taking away musicianship?
what do you mean 2d "thing". I believe there are very few things that remain unchanged, so that the concept of music evolves. tech only allows more options, like painting with a larger palette. so no, if anything it's making it harder to produce a creative piece because of the bewildering amount of options.
I record music ritualistically and using pro-tools 7.4 I can remove poor recordings, play the drum and bass parts myself and change the tempo for ALL the instruments seamlessly. Plus I have all the effects at my disposal (thanks to other software)
Some musicians rely on technology, others only care about their instrument and because of that both of them are limited.
The next step is a marriage of the two and the technology is cheap enough that we're almost there
In case anyone was interested to record music to a professional level you could get away with it by using a mac book, Mbox 2 (should allow you to upgrade to Pro-tools 7.4 if not I highly recommend it), Roland Drum Kit or Reason, Guitar, Amplitube 2 (to emulate your guitar amp, mic and pedal setup etc) and a Microphone and stand of your choosing. Thats a rough outline. That should come to a ball park £4000 maybe less. So yeah, do the research first though but I'd say that would be a strong setup.
If you want to record professional music on a mac, you should go for the apogee duet. It's about $500 but interfaces flawlessly with the mac, and sounds amazing. must have.
I think I understand what you're saying. Technology is making "music" easier to create and produce - therefore, the skill level required to make something qualified today as "music" is lower than before. It's analogous to modern cars - many people can "drive", but put them behind a stick shift without anti-lock brakes and they are lost.
I don't know if you can blame the technology - musicianship is a choice you make; you decide to learn. That said, tech -has- shifted the bell curve to the left.
This is true to an extent, and I agree, but you don't have to know as much as you did, y'know? We now have tools that will do a lot of the legwork for you. Additionally, since music has become simpler in recent decades, composition is less necessary, in some respects. If you can put down a beat, and a two-chord progression, you've got a song...
I do agree that it takes knowledge and understanding to make good music. I think that's what defines musicians and separates them from the rest.
I disagree. Technology is making music more diverse. It is giving us, musicians and artist, a larger palette to work with. And music hasn't just become simpler in recent decades. 50's blues, simple chord progressions. 60's pop, well, that about says it all - Simplicity was key there.
Most people in rock bands would have no idea how to go about creating music like this.
It's not easier in any sense. It's one man with synths, keyboards, drum machines and programs - doing all the work himself.
You gave examples of popular music in your statement, but that's fine....I actually meant to say that popular music has gotten simpler. My bad on that one; it's impossible to state that music as a whole has gotten simpler or more complex.
From a certain standpoint, I agree with you - but I also maintain that tech has made composition easier in terms of sound engineering. It isn't necessary to know the physics behind reverb or the different fundamental frequencies of instruments anymore.
Its even more strange when your a music student spending all your time studying into stuff like this, you cant just sit back and appreciatte it any more lol
Yea man i could listen to pause and rounds till the grave, but its mad before i started studying 5 years ago i wouldnt have even classed this as music.

@wylsmcpiles although i might agree with you that this song will probably never get old, just because u study music production doesn't mean that you have some sort of formula that you can put this song into that lets you know if it'll be timeless or not.
