@WagletonPTallylicker It's pretty much 20 years of nothing. New Tristram is created near old Tristram however. Most people consider the events of D1 and D2 to be legend. Deckard Cain reads of a falling star as a sign of the end times. A 'meteor' hits the old cathedral - and D3 begins. We won't know more until D3 is released!

The story behind the diablo games is actually pretty cool but I feel like the delivery of the story i diablo 2 (I've never played the first game) is really bad. All you do in that game is run through Dungeon Level 1, Dungeon Level 2,all the way down to the bottom, kill a boss,then Deckard Cain gives you a monologue where you learn about the story. Then it's back to Dungeon Level 1, Dungeon Level 2...For me it got old by the time I hit Act 3 in normal difficulty.Hopefully Diablo 3 has more to it!

@666789443 Not a whole lot. Its pretty much nothing but a dungeon crawl, with Cain saying "Save our town, hero!" at the beginning. It took me 2 days to clear every monster from every level of the game. There's not much to it. The only other lore thats in the game can be found in randomly generated tomes that can appear in the dungeons. You're not even guarenteed to get them. They more or less reitterate what is in the manual says.

The Evils were banished to Sanctuary by the Lessers, the soulstones were merely used as bindings. The Evils corrupted the stones and used them to tap into the Worldstone, the first step in their invasion.

When the heroes defeated them (not kill) and destroyed the stones, the Evils lost their foothold on Sanctuary and were banished back to the abyss. We'll have to see how that plays into Diablo 3 and the black soulstone.

Question: why did the Prime Evils want to become trapped inside soulstones? As you said, Tyriel was fooled into using the soulstones to capture Prime Evils.

Another question: How is it that the Prime Evils were killed in D2? The whole PLOT point of Diablo lore which led to the events of the games is that Prime Evils could NOT be killed by mortals, only TRAPPED inside the soulstones. That's the whole point of the first game. But in Diablo 2, you simply kill them, no problems, no questions asked.

I find it odd that with Cain being such an enormously prominent figure in the series, and is so right from the get go in D3's story line, that you weren't compelled to maybe mention him past the caging in Tristram in this video. @deathstreaks There are few "lesser" demons left, while in demon hierarhy they may be lesser, they are as threathening as the rest of "ruthless seven" We've got Mephisto, Al'Diabolos and Baal as the main trinity, then Duriel, Andariel(Either dead or banished), Belial and Azmodan. The lore itself will be most likely about Leah trying to follow her uncle due to something that happened in tristrams Catedral and a hero trying to protect an artifact that Azmodan will try to get (watch black ss video)
