well it is not worth the repair because those are so old they dont really work and i really dont know you would pobly have to get a rubber repair kit with some strong ass glue and some special tape.

That thing is a bitch to breathe in, especially while running. Because of that, soldiers often took out their exhale valves to make breathing easier. I heard about a guy who took it out for running but there was a tear gas excercise the next day and he forgot to put it back in.

The rubber stopper that covers the filter was also designed to be used as currency in the post-apocalyptic world following a WW3 (on the basis that everybody would be wearing their gasmask ALL THE TIME and never need to replace the stopper)

its funny that. the russian cold war era mask works with a NATO filter.

i dont know know which one came first but if it was the NATO filter then i doubt the russians would have wanted it to be compatable with the mask they made.

A bit off the topic but back in Soviet Union they've designed a mortar with a 88 mm caliber, while standard NATO one was a 87 mm. That way, Russians could use enemy's ammunition with decent accuracy while NATO soldiers could not use theirs!

i want the child russian gas mask from the cold war. they are about 7 bucks. they were given to schools in pripyat, ukraine. that is the city on the outskirts of the chernobyl nuclear plant. in fact in a hall in one of the schools, there is a spilled box of masks like the one im talking about. the town is a ghost town now. you should get the gp6. its like the gp5 only with a voice diaphram and earholes. very nice... they sell them in black and white on ebay. nice mask by the way. wish i had one

yes those are very cool but they are very rare and if you want to get one they are $40 with shipping form the ukrain. I bought a SCHMS witch is similar but it is much better

The filter looks like a GP-5 filter.  Then again, I think that was the standard filter for all Russian masks excluding the PBF, which used cheek filters and the masks using the the corrigated hoses... good mask though

yes the filter was the standard excluding the PBF which had built in filters as well as cheek filters that could be attached.
