  • Check pitchfork tv for Dont look down girls- laura and Substance!

  • its cool cuz they still aren't mainstream

  • @PWNageFilmProduction ... That's not the reason why it's cool. It's cool because it's cool.

  • Bass line is amazing - drives this song

  • man i saw this years ago. i'm glad i found it again.

  • @aaronloughlin oh so you probably knew about this before most people? that's really awesome man

  • @thedoucheslayer that came out wrong. i'm just glad i found a song i used to listen to. not trying to be a hipster.

  • Olddieeeeee.

  • lauv

  • tempo much?

  • The drummer have a nice tye dye

  • Try Asian women # oneman4u.info #

  • this is one of my favorite bands. I don't care or remember where I read about them, I'm just really glad I did at all.

  • girls are one of the best indie bands ever, and im straight :P

keep it up guys, good job.

  • I AM INLOVE WITH CHRISTOPER OWENS!

  • @sourskully So are 12 other people. Looks like you got some competition! :P

  • I had never heard of Pitchfork until I heard of Girls. Lol.

  • @evahooper123 Same story, only Best Coast.

  • @andi4614 beast coast is peanuts close to this

  • @andi4614 beeeeast coast

  • @andi4614 i actually like them thought, the best coast lol. But Girls is just better. Best Coast needs a second album like the Girls one.

  • i like pitchfork. u mad?

  • Pitchfork adulates excessively the indie holding it as apotheosis, obviously they gravitate towards because its their self-perpetuating image and they revel in it. But still they’re generally right and this is far superior to any of the vapid mundanities that the commercial sector pumps out. However if they give the vines another denigration i may obliterate Chicago

  • i wish i had a job

  • @gaytan58 fuck, i hear you man. I'd happily work for pitchfork lol

  • I think I just creamed my pants

  • i wish they would come out with a punk album..

  • I don't really care about pitchfork, but they did launch arcade fire (they did) and band of horses, as well as a bunch of other bands.

  • @abluesman100 Hahahaha you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Fantastic band. Fantastic song.

  • fags

  • they sound way better live!!

  • I've watched this video 103.032 times

  • @abluesman100 I read pitchfork. I use it as a way to find news about bands i like, and occasionally read a review or two. It's a good guide for people who are into "indie culture". I don't see anything wrong with that.

  • @urokr I'm with ya man.

  • whats the intro song?

  • ace

  • @RobertRayawordup this comment sounds like pitchfork wrote it... (caught you assholes)

  • @acouplafriends Hahaha. I doubt Pitchfork trolls YouTube videos just to spot negative comments about themselves.

  • @RobertRayawordup this comment sounds like pitchfork wrote it....(caught you assholes)

  • You know Pitchfork gave Kanye a (deserved) perfect 10, right? It doesn't get more mainstream than that. And isn't calling hipsters misguided exactly the reason you called Pitchfork shit? For judging people based on their taste. Pitchfork may be a bit over the top with the hipster business, but they have a pretty great team of writers putting out quality reviews for just about everything musical.

At least they don't give every single album 3 stars and a one paragraph write up. (Rolling Stone).

  • Chris I want to make you breakfast every morning

    I love all of you

    and I love Girls ♥

    Greetings from Argentina :)

  • Yeah, who really cares about pitchfork. I only went to the website once, and that's how I found these guys. And they're really good.

And all that crap about pitchfork neglecting mainstream music is stupid. Wasn't the NUMBER 1 album of the year from Kanye West? Who is pretty mainstream.

And all and all, who really gives a shit. Mainstream or not. Pitchfork is just a website. Get over it and just enjoy music.

  • Great song! I just wish pitchfork was a little more open minded, knowing them. I totally agree with all of the conversation about them recently.

  • @RobertRayawordup

yeah, i thought i was the only one that noticed that pitchfork sucks balls. Unfortunately since they specialize in covering new/indie music...it's the only site i know that makes it easy to find new good music. as for reviews...i just go to allmusic.com. Forward, honest, unpretentious, concise reviews. everything that pitchfork is not.

  • How did you get the video from the website?

  • Why do some people think it's cool now to hate pitchfork?

You have to be a dumb fuck to judge it all with one swipe (THEYRE HIPSTER DOUCHEBAGS HURR) since there's so many people involved. There are some good reviewers and there are some pretentious reviewers, but the site has about a dozen staff reviewers, can't you expect some inconsistency?

And for those who say pitchfork hate mainstream music, that is total bullshit. I've seen plenty of pop and mainstream rock albums get great ratings there.

  • @natojacobs5 I'm with you, bro. The only thing that bothers me about some p4k reviews are the fact that thye ramble on about an insignificant event that happened when they listened to the band they reviewed, then only type a paragraph or two about the album, but that scarcely happens anymore. I never understood why people hate a music reviewing website for reviewing music.

  • oh i wish i had a boyfriend...

  • @airplanedance i iwsh i had a boyfriend too xD oneday..lol

  • @abluesman100 While I agree that Pitchfork may be a little hung up on themselves, I don't think your general assessment of them is entirely correct. They cover plenty of mainstream material, and praise it as well (Kanye just received a perfect score). Saying Pitchfork is obsessed with Indie is like saying CMT is obsessed with Country; that's the kind of music they cater to, and for anyone that's even remotely involved with the indie scene, there's no denying their omnipresence and influence.

  • GOD. fuck with the mainstream shit, good music IS good music, so STFU just kick back and listen.

  • @current18 Your comment saddens me

  • @jamesandjackproducts and i can care less.

  • @abluesman100 I disagree, but that's my personal taste. Avey Tare released down there which was awesome, twin shadow released forget which was also great. Just to name a few.

  • Can someone tell me what pitchfork is and why everyone hates it?

  • @bassguitar19 Its a website that focuses on indie/alternative music and tends to trash anything other than indie/alternative. People probably hate it cause they wank themselves over some artists and give shitty reviews to other artists. If you ever go on to Pitchfork take most of their reviews with a grain of salt but just listen to the music itself. They do feature some great musicians

  • lets getthis straight

    fuck pitchfork

but fuck they get ontop of their news faster than anyone

    except fo rthe strokes album

that bugs me cause the strokes basically did this whole indie culture for the 2000's

and pitchfork...bvecause the strokes are so big do anything to bash them

its true there ass holes but fuck can they update that site fast

  • The thing about pitchfork is, they review music that they like (as do I). Everyone gets up in arms because they only review indie...no shit. They're and indie music website and people that like indie music go to that website to listen to indie music. Where's the problem???

  • i like this band

  • <3

    LOVE

  • I like Pitchfork because when I listen to the albums that it gives positive reviews to, I usually like said albums. Come at me bro

  • amaizing ♥♥

  • I saw them live at Way Out West this summer and they were really boring... I left after about three songs. And I really like this video; there's so much more energy and feeling in this performance then there was at Way Out West...

  • This is one of the best live songs ever, such energy , thats coming from someone who haa seen arcade fire live :)

  • @abluesman100

Since you're a blues fan you have no right to call anyone else stupid.

Blues is an influential genre but is largely the same generic riffs, lyrics, and feelings, coupled with the fact that blues guitar takes half a brain to master.

If you were a jazz fan I would consider your opinion worth reading, but otherwise I suggest you get back to the swamplands.

  • I HATE PITCHFORK SOO MUCH THEY ARE STOOPID POOPOO HEADS FOR supporting independent music, and potentially selling thousands of CDs, giving independent musicians the chance to tour and get their name out there. Yep, sure is a lot to hate about that.

  • god the drummer is good

  • I just recently saw them live and they had a different guitarist and different drummer. They weren't as good as they were here. Did they get new people or something?

  • @abluesman100 True that there are people out there like that, but not every person who dresses like a hipster is an annoying douche bag. Just like every person who dresses like a frat bro isn't always a douche bag. You really just gotta get to know the person before even judging them. This whole new thing of "hipster" is really just blasphemy. People need to get to know people, not just label how they look.

  • awesome sauce

  • @abluesman100 Neon Indian's Psychic Chasms?

  • Comment removed

  • COME TO SPAIN =D

  • @abluesman100 check out the band Dom, songs: Jesus, Living in America, Burn Bridges. good shit, came out in january

  • Never had to use pitchfork. Found a lot of bands through music blogs like hypem. Plus the guy I mix at the studio with is really good for random music discoveries since he masters a lot of artist recordings from asia on his free time. Lotta weird but interesting stuff over there.

  • I think Pitchfork is alright in small doses

  • this is so much better than the recorded version.

  • so these guys never really took off as much as i thought they could....

  • @abluesman100

People who LOVE music and listen to all types will of course be more inclined towards people who are similar. 'Hipsters' do not judge people based on their music tastes, they judge people based on their musical compatibility. This type of exclusion reaches every human interaction--its another way of saying that people get along if they have alot of things in common. Ok and also--if Hipster's actually know their music, they are not hipsters at all--they're legit.

  • thats cool! BUT r they gay? he sings: i wish i had a boyfriend,...another man in my life!

  • @devilshaircutnessity im very sure he's gay

  • @devilshaircutnessity

i think he is imitating a girl because his voice is more 'girly' when he sings that part

  • Te-GEK!!!!!!!!!

  • whats that song in the beginning?

  • that drummer has the best fucking style... actually they all do

  • THIS IS F* GOOOOOOOD !!!!!

  • @abluesman100 your a dickhead, maybe your the one being "really closed minded" me and my friends listen to bands from pitchfork becuase it has introduced many diferent genres and bands, it just happens to be that there are diferent types of people in the world that like the "indie culture" ive always loved the music. some people just like to listen to one genre, thats their own choice.

  • 15 years from now:

    Pitchfork = MTV

  • A moment of Zen yo...

  • @abluesman100 Exactly. I am a fan of Indie music, but when I first truly delved into it, I let other peoples and magazines opinions rule mine. I know so many people like this. Unfortunately thanks to Pitchfork and all, a band like Animal Collective is popular (trash). It takes away the best part of music, which is to truly find something unique to why you connect with it, or find it great entertainment. i have my ears pretty open when it comes to music. All this aside, Girls is a good band

  • @brett5673 how the fuck are animal collective trash? they're visionaries. i've never read a pitchfork review in my life, i just love the band. why do you feel the need to belittle what other people like?

ugh. i seek out this band's videos to get over being so bothered by the fact there aren't any girls in a band named girls and, from the sound and look of it, no romantic interest in girls either, but each time i'm exposed to this band or it's fan i end up even more irritated than i was before.

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Calm down...its just a fucking website for listening to good music and knowing when good bands are playing.

  • I just want his shirt

    that's all

  • @RobertRayawordup congratulate yourself on the fact that you're busy enough to the point where you can't find the most obscure bands by yourself, but that you're resourceful enough to be able to listen to them regardless. who cares if we need help finding music - it's something to appreciate and I commend pitchfork for making it available to a larger fanbase. admittedly they can be inconsistent douchebags at times but whatever

  • who fucking cares about pitchfork?

    just listen to Girls

  • @liztrex

    PREACH

  • @RobertRayawordup 6music's website?

  • i love this version, sounds so fucking good.. ending comes way to soon leaving me needing so much more..

I've heard that he recently left the group and I want to see where he pops up next.

  • this video fucking owns because of the drummer looking like Michael Showalter

  • Wow this makes me like Girls even more.

  • @seachristie Yeah me too.

  • Great, but (No offence Girls rock) definitely not the original audio recording.

  • "i wish I had a pizza and a bottle of wine"

    profound

  • He's voice is amazing, and the live performance is better than album.

  • these new puritans, vampire weekend, the courteneers, beach house and girls all had good albums :)

  • @abluesman100 Hey man, I don't think that is entirely true... Beach House's new album Teen Dreams is amazing and came out in January. Just search deeper!

  • i distincly recall a coworker at a grocery store 3, maybe 4 years ago telling about the revival of a Beach Boys/ Grunge musical masterpiece- previous decades come back every 20 years or so. i think this is it.

  • agreed. Contra is decent, and im anticipating a good record from Caribou

  • *cough* these new puritans *cough*

  • Where? NYC? SF? London?

  • they really nail it here. don't know why the other live video is getting more views. This one is way better. this is exactly how I'd want them to sound if I saw them live.

  • AMAZING VERSION.

  • i love this band. sooo good.

  • Girls are my new found obsession.

  • SAME. <3

  • Too much bass

  • they play good music

  • when I think of pitchfork I think pretentious snob

  • @lebowskirulz Sounds like you're somewhat insecure my friend. Chin up.

  • parecen razorlight!

  • Sure pitchfork is pretentious and stupid, but you can't deny the fact that this band is fucking good.

Every once in a while they pick a good one.

  • Thats all pretty opinionated don't you think.

I think Pitchfork is one of the most legit things in music right now, but that doesn't make it so.

  • I'll give them some credit for this one and I agree sometimes they do really help out deserving bands. I guess it's all subjective.

but to me pitchfork comes as a little pretentious.

  • @SkankinScott711

Pitchfork is pretentious, challenging but they've hipped me to so much shit downloading their stuff is great

  • Because we all need to read music.

  • I'm not sure I follow.

  • Fantastic.

    Friggin' love it (:

  • excellent.

  • this version is way better than the studio version! although that one is also pretty cool hehe

  • someone know this guitar? the singer's guitar.

  • @marcoot93 It looks like a Rickenbacker 660 but I'm not sure...

  • my pick for song of 2009

  • Wayyy better here than the midi festival performance.

  • Fucking Awesome - I LOVE these guys

  • starts out quite boring, but the end is just immense.

  • sooo great!

  • Such a beautiful performance.

  • I love both guitar tones

  • Simplicity at its best! i love it!

  • absolutely ace
