i know nothing about day trading how do i even get started? is there somewhere to learn for free and do play trades just to get my feet wet? And what's the bare minimum capital would I need to start with?

I recommend finding a real office or a virtual group. Anywhere where you can listen or watch successful traders in real time. This may cost 200 a month or so but it is worth it and nothing is "free". You can find companies that pool capital as an LLC and that gives you buying power intraday. More than you would get at a traditional broker. I would say write a check for 10k and call it your tuition in the market. There is no substitute for trading real time emotions.

Great Question. I try not to do too much homework and just react to the market. Took me a while to realize that. I have alert filters that show me the setups that are happening, NOT the ones that I EXPECTED to happen. Most of my favorite setups involve gaps and volume filters. These are invaluable to me and I can't trade without them watching the market for me.
