I remember this episode. They were making fun of her for a good bit but she wouldn't give in and laugh at herself and in the end they treated her nicely (this clip), to which she laughed. Fucking ugly bitch.
@wmiles91 Not true. She hosted another episode after this one. THAT episode, which featured Jimmy Carr, was one she decided never to do another episode.
Oh well, if I was swallowing the bleach, that'd be pain distraction number one. Pain distraction number two would be savagely shredding my testicles with the brush. The shower is to wash away the blood and puke.
Ian is the critical genious of the programme... i think its a crime to put him under Merton, they are both equals in my mind and excel at different things. Merton being the surreal master of improvisation and off the cuff quips, Hislop being the critical master that swiftly cuts down anyone who gets in his path through a mixture of both subtle and overtly destructive wit.
The only bits they really 'rehearse' are things such as the 'odd one out' round to allow each team a fair chance at guessing the answer beforehand. Apart from that, the show is pure surrealism and improvised brilliance courtesy of Paul here (and sometimes Ian)
And if you can't see that, well...I'm afraid you're quite daft.
@MeMeMeMeMeMeMeMeAndU Apart from the odd one out round, they aren't told all the questions beforehand. What kind of quiz would that be? Remember, one of the team captains is a journalist, he keeps up to date with the news for a living. Paul Merton obviously pays attention to the newspapers too. But, there are the odd times the panel are utterly surprised by the 'story of the week' and that's only because they haven't read about it.
They rely on their wit and knowledge of current affairs.
@DMaddox2010 Sorry, you're also kinda wrong. You were present at the filming. The 'rehearsal' only really requires the regulars sat around a table with the writers going through the host's jokes and the general flow of the show. I imagine the guests are given an idea of what to expect.
Even when I can only hear the sound of her pointless, awkward, endless bloody laughter... Lucy Porter ruins everything.

@dudemandude999 Well, she is never going to appear on the show ever again due to Jimmy Carr's risque material when she was guest host.
Birdman283 1 year ago
@Birdman283 And for Jimmy Carr that was nowhere near Risque. If he'd opened up fully she would have had a coronary!

She was totally about to walk out when she told them to calm down. She swore never to be in another episode after that.

I had to shake that woman's hand. It was my school speech day so i couldn't refuse to. Also, I wanted the prize she was handing out.

@bookworm266 Still, nothing a cupful of bleach, a good scrubbing brush and the world's longest shower couldn't solve.

I get that you swallow the bleach, but what are the brush and shower for?

Indeed, Paul's somewhat special when it comes to improv, have to love the bugger for that.
Ian has his moments too of course

@SparrowisSexy No, they are told all the questions before the show starts so they can prepare their answers.
And if you can't see that, well....I'm afraid you're quite daft.

@SparrowisSexy That's not correct. They are told the questions before the show so they have a chance to think up their amusing answers beforehand.

@MeMeMeMeMeMeMeMeAndU Ian Hislop's a satirist and Paul Merton's an improvisational comedian. Thinking up amusing answers comes easily to them!

@SparrowisSexy Im sorry to say that although your comment has 65 thumbs up
