Can somebody link me to a video where Hitchens is smiling? He always looks like he's telling a family member their mother was just decapitated in a car accident.
Love Hitchens. But I think the arabian people have genuine political concern about Isreal. I mean to just relocate a whole bunch of people and putting them smack in the middle of Jerusalem, a place of great religeous and cultural importance, people are bound to be upset. Hitchens spews bile when he diminishes the conflict to Muslim hate of jews. This is not helpful and i wish he'd be more objective next time. Come on Hitchens! You can do better! Don't end religion as said... Start rationalism!
@Moh5Itachi1 My point is that these chicken-hawks; Carlson, Hannity, Bill O'Reilly etc., are happy to talk glibly of sending other people's kids off to die in foreign wars, while they stay home & collect their fat pay checks. I wonder if they'd be so brave if they had to go and fight themselves. And since when have illegal foreign military interventions been comparable to pulling people out of burning buildings?
@Cabronosidad do you think that getting rid of Hitler was a good idea or are you a chicken-hawk if you dont go and fight yourself. What your saying is that someone has no right to support something unless they do it themselves. If your against the war then come up with a better argument than the Chicken-Hawk one.
@Moh5Itachi1 Of course getting rid of Hitler was a good idea, and your comparison is a spurious one - Iran does not constitute anything like the same threat as Germany did in 1939. When was the last time that Iran attacked anyone? Chicken-hawks like this clown here would have more credibility if they put their money where their mouths were and went off to fight themselves, given the messianic fervour with which they approach America's illegal, proxy wars in the Middle East. Now shut up!
@Cabronosidad yes they are as big of a threat as hitler was. There trying to get Nuke to use as nuclear blackmail against neighboring Sunni states like Bahrain. I guess we should wait until they commit on atrocity instead of preventing it from happening.
@Moh5Itachi1 What utter rubbish! Iran has never attacked anyone but are surrounded on all sides by hostile client states of America, not to mention the demonic Israel, which illegally possesses over 200 nuclear warheads, and constitutes a far bigger threat to world peace than Iran ever has. And what about Pakistan, the most unstable nuclear state in the region, and spiritual home to Al Qaida and the Taliban? They are potentially far more dangerous than Iran. Ease up on the Kool Aid, kid!
@Cabronosidad demonic israel huh? thats all i need to know about you. Instead of supporting the shia theocracy of ahmajinedad that rapes women in prison why not support the democratic movement of iran or are you a jihadist sympathizer?
@Moh5Itachi1 When did I say that I supported the Shia theocracy of Iran? I said no such thing. To condemn Israel for its flagrant violation of the rules of international law does not equate to an endorsement of the regime of the mullahs of Iran. You really are clutching at straws aren't you? Maybe you should brush up on your knowledge of international affairs before you start pontificating on YT. Or at least try sourcing information elsewhere other than Faux News!
With what we are seeing in Iran at the moment, Hitchens words strike so true. They are busy blaming the Western world for all their troubles, formenting dissent, kiling people etc...
And it's the fundamentalist hard line Islamists doing the accusation, and blaming everyone else.
Difficult to accept that such a brilliant, pragmatic, and objective mind- particularly on the subject of religion, hasn't embraced the reality of 9/11. It wasn't a Jihad. It was the NeoCon's Reichstag Fire.
Hitch is right. There's nothing wrong with being mad at the Mullahs for what they're doing, but, if we continue to rattle the sword, all the young supporters we have in Iran might fall to their national pride. We need to talk to them directly, and show them the secular society they could have, so they'll want to rattle their own sword at the government. And, when that happens, we'll be right behind them.
Fucking moron. The US was at war with Germany. Companies like IBM were taken over by the Nazis and separated from their parent company. Its called nationalizing; the Nazis took them over. According to your logic, Jews should be blamed for helping the Nazis when they got their gold stolen from them. Fucking idiot.
Yes, my argument concedes that. Many Jewish people did bussiness with Nazi Germany before the war too---THEY FUCKING LIVED THERE. German people needed goods and services and before the war it wasn't quite clear how evil the Germans were going to be (Even some Jewish people were confused about this which is why not all of them left)
Sadly, no. i don't think that would solve more problems than it would create.
The only solution is information, Those people's education comes from holy books alone.
Most modern countries don't rely on those books for most stuff these days, to be honest it's a real shame they are still around even in the most advanced countries.
It's time to move on and embrace reason, we have to start with ourselves before we can help others though.
He was definately talking about an earthquake, not about nuking them - Tucker got confused, there. I'm not surprised because Hitch's point was a little weird.. I guess he meant that we should use a potiential earthquake in Iran as some kind of psychological tool.. I'm not sure how well that'd work out though. Maybe he's hoping the Iranians will see an EQ as Allah's indictment of their leader.
isn't it funny that a society with a failed infrastructure, authoritarian politics, horrible economic situations, and oppressive views towards it's citizens has the nerves to condemn the western world...if I wasn't a peace loving atheist I'd say, do the world a favor, drop the fucking BOMB on the middle east and rid us of their anti-intellectual, anti-progressive plague...
Inquisitor-This is an interesting thing. Thus far, i have seen THREE videos uploaded by Hitch haters who disallow any praise for Hitchens or challenge to his detractors. Yet, on the videos uploaded by hitchens supporters, i've noticed plenty of diverse opinion and disagreement. I think that says alot. I was banned from commenting on two videos because i defended Christopher. I can't imagine being so low that i'd need to ban someone from commenting on a video because i disagreed with them.
That would be typical of the authoritarianism of the left. People can't have much conviction in their own ideas if it depends on banning and censoring other ideas that contradict theirs. Hitch betrayed the flock so he must pay, I don't even think it has much to do with the morality of the Iraq war, it has more to do with loyalty and subservience to a tribe.
No, he also wrote a letter to the American people after the one he wrote to President Bush, which you'd know if you took 20 seconds to look it up on Wikipedia. I can't add hyperlinks here, so go to Wikipedia and on the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad page, under Section 6.1: Iran-U.S. Relations, click on the 2nd Wikisource link.
Christopher Hitchens is clearly a brilliant man and too many muslims try and defame him as they constantly lose the intellectual battle. His antithesis is the disgusting George Galloway who belongs in the ground next to his idol Saddam Hussein.
Have you seen the debate betwen Hitchens and Galloway uploaded by EvilGoblin? He doesn't allow any comments on his videos without his approval, so all of it reads as Galloway sucking drivel. It's such typical cowardice. But the video speaks for itself despite the bullshit comments.
I can vouch for that, too. The host of that video is a a coward called evilgolbin. He hosts other pro-galloway vids and again screens comments and only posts comments that he agrees with. Typical really of propoganda and the people behind it.
Jesus Christ, you're calling this propaganda while suggesting we read Noam Chomsky!?
WOW just wow. You might want to take a step back and look up some of the hypocrisy of the neo-liberal hero Noam Chomsky, a millionaire anti-capitalist who has been paid millions by the PENTAGON *gasp*. He's also making millions off suckers like you.
The search proved nothing, the book you refered to has misleading features that Schweizer has acknowledged and is re-writing the book. I dson't consider Schweizer a truthffull man anyway so it's not surprising.
