@brucemoon17 MVB is actually done I suppose. Conor was quoted at the end of their past tour saying it was the "Nail in the Coffin" tour for them. I followed em on tour with my girlfriend to 6 shows. What an awesome time.
However, he ended up meeting the other members of TMVB, and they decided to play one show together - well from there, and i quote connor, "it just snowballed."
Anyway, it's a really great documentary and i hope everyone gets a chance to watch it. They ended up touring for almost a year and played over 100 shows together, and basically became the best friends. They recorded one CD before the tour, (Connor Oberst) and another when they finished, (Outer South)
He basically went to Mexico on a whim because, as he says in the video, he was "drawn" to it. But his intentions from the beginning were to make a solo album. He also mentions how Mike from bright eyes became busy with his family. (in no way did Connor bail on him, which is what i had kind of always assumed)
I was just going to say, there's a really great documentary free to download on the internet about the creation of The Mystic Valley Band. If any of you are anything like me, you've pretty much always wanted to hang out with connor, and it's a greattt inside look at the inner working of his craft, how he writes music and how the Mystic Valley Band came to be.
In a June 2009 issue of Rolling Stone Oberst announced that he wanted to "retire" the Bright Eyes moniker and would be making one final album with the band: "It does feel like it needs to stop at some point. I'd like to clean it up, lock the door, say goodbye." The album is planned to release in the fall of 2010 on Saddle Creek Records.
oh my god i almost cried when i heard this ive heard it so many times ive always loved it but i didnt know she had died and just i had to hold back my saddness just because this song is so beautiful, to care so much for some one then there gone, i really couldnt handle that
I love bright eyes so much. all conors songs made you go fuck. ive felt that way or he knows exactly how i feel. and now even though im not a huge fan of mystic valley band. but wow this song is beautiful
it must be terrifying after a show if there are like hundreds of asshole kids waiting for you by the backdoor and all you want to do it make it to the bus.
the fact is that he wanted to do something different for a while, feel what it was like to record a different project in a different studio and release it on a different label, bright eyes is not over, i'm hearing that there is going to be a new release later this year, the mystic valley band is just a different project for conor, just like tim kasher has cursive and the good life.

the only consistant member of brighteyes was conor, so technically it never ended, he's just sick of being brighteyes. he's moved on and I really like the changes
when did this come out??? man, ive been out listening to newer bright eyes music. i didnt even know there was a new mystic valley album. does anyone know if bright eyes is doing anything or getting back together?
this is on the Gentleman's Pact EP with the Mystic Valley Band. they sold it at their shows during the last tour, that's where i got it. you can probably get it online now. it's hard to believe this song isn't on an album, it's a gem.
I went to the concert on the 13th and it was amazing. But i have to admit i fell over laughing because he was wearing the biggest, most ridiculous hat i had ever seen.He sang this one song and I still dont know what nt was,but it was really sad,and this stupid girl in the crowd kept yelling the lyrcis before he sang them and drove everyone(Probably even him)insane.
You know how at some restaurants they have flyers advertising guitar lessons or something?
Well, the Hot Topic I went to has flyers telling you which bands will be coming soon. And there was one that said,Conor Oberst and The mystic Valley Band.
i cant stop listening to this song. all through new years i was ignoring the crap techno dance mix and playing it in my head. thanks infinitely for posting. the video is gorgeous too. perfect.
My favorite was the part when they make it home.

With Monsters of Folk seeming like Connor's new thing, and a final Bright Eyes CD on the way, who knows when TMVB will play again.

This song is so moving.
It's not as obscure as his other lyrics tend to be;
This one is so honest and blunt.
I think that's what he was going for,
Like how he really felt after her death
