it appears I was incorrect...in total more Protestants were killed than Catholics...perhaps what I read was when only civilians are taken into account...the majority of IRA killings were members of British security service(nearly all Protestant) many of the civilians killed were from Republican areas where the IRA enforced its own legal code and would kill those who offended them.

@clagan24 Celtic are by far and away the best supported club in Ireland.I think a lot of the interest in English clubs from Irish people stems from Irish players either having played for them or are currrently playing with them.A lot of the Irish Diaspora in England gravitated towards clubs with these traditions or clubs that have been traditionally open to a catholic support like Everton.As for Chelsea.They are malignant huns.combat18,national front,english defence league bigots.

BUT they support english teams too because there are many irish players over there and its always on TV. they support english teams so they can argue over whos better with their friends and get a sense of true rivalry (eventhough its really all happening across the water) So most irish people support an english team AND Celtic!
