  • Thank you for your universal installation steps of Andriod on HP touchpad i have installed CM 9.. everything is working smoothly but I having issue regarding to microphone and camera (not working). how we are going to fix that?

  • Do you have a tutorial for mac users? There is one on youtube but it isn't as detailed for an idiot like me.

  • I have followed the instructions and have gotten to the Boot Menu. It will go to the Green Cyanogen logo that says loading. Then it will go to a palm logo. Screen goes black and returns to Boot Menu screen. It is not stuck looping thru these screens? Any help would be be appreciated. Great video.

  • I really appreciate you taking the time to go through it step by step. Great explanations on everything. Even though my major is in computers and electronics, sometimes even we can get stuck on a single step (note: RTFM was my problem) and it really helps to have each step visually reinforced. ~Cheers

  • The video was incredible. I was told the it wasn't necessary to add the original acmeinstaller to the palm folder but regardless it still works. Thanks again for the amazing video.

  • Worked flawlessly. I followed both this video and the ICS video and was able to install Ice cream sandwich with no problems. Thanks to @cccerberus for replying to my previous question. After watching the Install ICS CM9 video i did add acmeinstaller to the palm folder and did unzip the 2 necessary files. Then added Acmeinstaller 2 as well. When i did the command prompt part of the video i just typed acmeinstaller2 instead of the the original acme intaller. Everything worked perfect.

  • Rev, You deserve major credits for putting together videos that even a muppet like me can follow ;^)

  • i am having problems putting android app world on it

  • i've been getting a response that the acmeinstaller2 bad or error response from other side, help me out what do i need to do?

  • Thank you a thousand times

  • Here's my question. I'm installing android on my touchpad for the first time and I'm unsure what to do when i get to the acme installer part. Acme installer 2 isn't a zip file, do i just add it to the palm folder as is or do i still need the original acme installer with the 2 files unzipped?

  • @chazbryner I just did this (1st time android install on TP) just put ACMEInstaller2(no extension) in the palm, inc folder. don't worry about a read me or zip file, i didn't have them either. just booted into ICS.

    AWESOME!

  • @cccerberus1 Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate u taking the time to reply to my question. I did add the original acme installer to the palm folder and unzipped the 2 files before i saw your reply. I then added the acme installer 2 and it worked as well. Its nice to no I can skip that step in the future. Thanks again.

  • Very helpful! Thanks! Worked without issue!

  • one thing I found that ACMEInstaller is not a zip file when u download from rootzwiki.

  • hi, when i get to the dos and "palm, inc> and type the command it says "the system cannot find the file specified"any idea what ive done wrong?

  • Need Help, M to the last step. it came up with Palm Novacom (bootie) and when I use that last command on DOS, it says The system can not find the file specified. Now my touchpad is stuck @ the USB symbol and dont know wht to do..... When I reconnect the USB touchpad with the laptop, it comes up with connected and Palm Novacom (bootie).......

  • @anned725 no I haven't figured anything out. I'm still booting in Web OS too use mine....

  • thanks i successfully download.. the problem now the camera is not working and multiple application not working only 1 application in a time.. need your advice. thanks

  • I did everything step by step...but when my touchpad finally booted it said "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped" what did I do wrong? please help

  • THANK YOU! =D

  • install successfully android to my hp touch pad.. i need your advice how come that b4 install I can open 1 and more application, but now only one.. thanks

  • @reverendkjr I cannot find the novacom.exe file. Ive looked and evevn done a search and still can't find it. What do i do? Please help

  • cd is change dir

  • I did everything you mention in terms of all the files needed in the palm inc folder, but I don't have the novacom terminal file? Is that important? My touchpad isn't loading...

  • this tutorial was da bomb man. i wish you good do idiot tutorials for everything.

  • hey awsome vids... i have a request though if possible. I have been searching around to prevent the browser to open a webpage in mobile mode, but i can't find any that work for the cs9 mod.

  • What a superb video. I probably didn't *need* that much newbie-type guidance, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have it anyway!

  • I can't find out where that novacom file is! D: please help!

  • Reverend, I've listened to both this video and the one you created for the cm-9.0(alpha2) version.

The other video focused on updating from alpha1 to alpha2. Mine is a new install using this video as a template. Here's what I have in cminstall:

    moboot_0.3.5, update-cwm_tenderloin_1012, update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Touchpad-alpha2..., gapps-ics-20120224-signed.

I'm concerned about the tenderloin file obtained from cm-7.

In folder Palm, Inc, I have novacom and ACMEInstaller2.

    Should I proceed?

  • @bupkus123 I installed with the above listing of files with the addition of MIUI.us_tenderloin_2.3.7_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_scott951 in place of the tenderloin_1012 file. I just tried to view Netflix with the default browser and it failed to run. I suppose there's and app but we will see.

  • Cute penguins!

  • What do we do if there is no novacominstaller and you get a .zip file?

  • @laxguy22655 Follow this video - it is an updated version for CM9 (newest release) and is a lot shorter than this video, but still contains all of the vital information.

    watch?v=ro3wGUTTi1Y

  • Thank you so much!! :D

  • novacom installation just doesn't seem to download. Its stuck on the initializing bar... PLEASE HELP!

  • Everything worked fine until I put in the "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller" code, cmd told me that the system could not find the file specified. Everything else worked perfectly fine, though!!

However, ACMEInstaller2 did not have the Read Me file. Could that be the source of the problem?

Btw I'm trying to install CM9.

  • Im on Windows 7, i download the novacom file you have linked yet when i download it, it says windows cant open the file and that i must choose a program to open it or find something on the web, i dont know what to do, i unzip it manually with jzip and it does not give me a file to install, what do i do? this is the only thing holding me up

  • Thank you very much for this video. I'd tried following the instructions on the various pages out there, but my upgrade would invariably fail. With your help, I finally got ICS up and running on the touchpad. Again, thank you!

  • I have the alpha 2 and i thought I installed the new gapps, but I don't have google music :/ and I can't seem to find it on search.... how do I get it? :)

  • Thanks. Easy to follow and worked for me first time. great

  • Hi reverendkjr,I did follow everything from your video, everything was fine as follow your steps but after press enter after novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller

there is no double penguin shows on my tp, then dos windows shows

    "novacomd socket was closed prematurely

    novacom: unexpected EOF from server"

    could you help?

  • Hi Mr Kyle, I would like to know how I can get the wallpaper/background in the video with the Android icon? I have an HP Touchpad.

  • HELP!!!!!!!! i used the cmd everything correctly installed but i have to use novacomd thats the only one it responds to and then itt says a whole bunch of stuff and delays, then at the bottom it says NOTE: please use service panel or sc command to start Novacomd service!

i dont know what that means and i dont know what to type!! HELP MEE PLEASE

  • After following you video exactly, Im still having trouble. After the Double Penguins~ it reboots and I choose the Cyanogenmod for bootup it goes through a very brief boot screen then I see a CyanogenMod Loading icon in the center of my screen, after 30 secs then it automatically reboots and goes through this same process again. Can anyone help me?

  • @bntfoster i am having the same problem, we need some help here

  • @bntfoster

I get the same thing! Have you found a solution yet? I've just been booting to WebOS to use my TouchPad but would like to use Android.

  • upon the reboot it shows the last screen yours did: Mobot 0.3.5 and then my options for start up: boot WebOS, boot CyanogenMod, boot ClockworkMod, boot WebOS Recovery, reboot, shut down and then Time out in 5...... then it goes to the HP startup screen, scrolls some blue text says booting..... then I get a black screen with the CyanogenMod loading icon on it, then it reboots and starts all over. It has done this at least 6 times in 3 minutes.can you help?

  • First, awesome video. Really idiot proof and I followed it exactly. Still getting used to Android vs webOS, but enjoying it thus far. The only problem outside of basic bugs is that the mic doesn't work well. It actually makes the voice really high and almost unrecognizable, definitely unbearable. It's not app related as it's the same result in sound recorder and Skype. Is this regular or should I re-install from beginning to end?

  • Thanks i was able to follow the vid but when I get to the last step ( novacom boot in cmd) it says "failed to connect to server" anyone any ideas?

  • Thank you so much for making this video! I've used your uninstall and install videos both with 100% success!

  • How do people have a hard time with this? Also, why do you scream someone help? Steps are easily followed for perfect results. Great job creating an excellent tutorial!

  • Great work! Everything was thorough and easily understandable! I can't wait to try it out. Thanks again!

  • omg omg omg u rock...can u do one for the droid incredible pleaseee

  • hey rev for some reason my computer wont allow me to extract the acmeinstaller into that palm inc folder why is that? how can i change it? please respond i need help

  • It Keeps Saying "UNABLE TO FIND DEVICE" Someone Help!?!?!

  • so, being a noob. all the files downloaded are .zip files EXCEPT the ACMEInstaller2 file, is there any way to fix this?

  • Great tutorial, CM9 successfully installed!

  • @ reverendkjr i download novacom so many times and it still dont say novacomexe

  • hey, i did everything right but when it boots up its asking for a password. do you know what i should do

  • I have no problem booting to WebOS but for some reason when I boot to Cyanogenmod their logo keeps popping up with Loading... underneath. After 5-10 seconds it reboots to the moboot 0.3.5 menu over and over. I am using the ICS. Could that be my problem and if so how do I go back to 7.0? Thanks in advance.

  • @jshtax I figured it out. You have to use something called NewAcmeInstaller

  • is there a way to fix the internal storage to recognize the whole 32gb? it says it only has 2 gb and an error saying "damaged sd card"

  • Brilliant video. keep'm coming. :)

    cheers

  • amazing, i followed your instructions and i got there... thanks a lot. very well made...

  • omg none of file r zip!!! idk what to do it jsut show a paper picture

  • Excellent Instructions, And worked perfectly with ACMEInstaller2 and Ice Cream Sandwich!

  • Used this step-by-step guide, worked like a dream, first time straight through. Excellent - best (most useful) video I've seen on YT

  • Whenever I go to the Android market to download apps I keep getting the message "Server error Retry"

  • @416Toronto647

hi, don't know if this helps but i had the same problem. i un-installed android and then started again from the begining. this time it all worked fine and i had android market working.....reverendkjr advised me to try installing gapps again but i didn't know how to do this on its own!!!

  • mine says the system cannot find the file specified when i type the novacom

  • @MegaKoolkyle It could be that you are using acme installer 2. So type this: novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2

  • my command prompt tells me: failed to connect to server after i press enter for the novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller

  • @xxlolxxd1 same thing is happening here

  • When I first downloaded novacom I only got the folder of novacom. I then downloaded it a second time and then got the novacom.exe if anyone is having problems like that, just download it again and you should get novacom.exe. :D

  • Hi I think I did everything right but I don't have the android market installed. So I googled an install for android market and downloaded that. Whenever I try to open the app I tells me to add an account which I have already done so. Can anyone please help with this?

  • after my command fail, my touchpad screen still shows the usb thing. i was wondering how to make my touchpad back to normal

  • This helped me a lot thanks. Although there is 15 minutes of rambling and 15 minutes of the actual how-to.

  • Hi,

  • @reverendkjr

Why am I getting an Access is denied message when I enter the command

    novacom boot meme:// < ACMEInstaller

  • @TheChantellerogers You probably don't have administrator rights on your computer.

  • Rev. are you going to make video how to upgrade from cm7 to cm9?

  • @yvanho01 I've already made install videos for cm9.

  • THANK YOU VERY INFORMATIVE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

  • PERFECT VIDEO. IT TOOK ME ABOUT TWO HOURS TO WATCH AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, BUT IT GOT IT. THANK YOU

  • Very clear and concise. Thanks for this and will install tonight. Just to mention a slight typo with the link for gapps - should be goo-inside.me, not goo-insider.me. All the best.

  • @reverendkjr Looking at the information I see in "Double Penguin Mode", I see a line that says "There are differences between boot sector and its backup" And then it'll just hang saying "msm_timer_set_next_event(12) clock dg_timer, alarm already expires, noww 11563c2f, alarm 11563c34, late -5" with those numbers changing every 5 seconds or so.

I never get to the "inflating" stage

  • Great detailed video, I put CM7 on with no hick ups. Operates all the apps I need so I'm good with it. Especially got my netflix and hulu working on it.

  • So I just installed it! Thank you so much! great video!!!! the screen which says boot webos

or boot clockworkmod ect (i downloaded ics 9 btw not the cookie cutter 3.5) when i click on boot clockworkmod it takes me to a CWM-based recovery file to let me choose reboot system

apply update etc...what do I do from here? thanks for you time

  • having some problems with installing android, I have done every thing correct so i think. I get to the point were the install is done. The moboot 0.3.5 page is up and I choose boot CyanogenMod. I get a cyanogen(mod) loading page for like 20 sec. Then the HP logo shows up bring me back to the moboot 0.3.5. I have tried re-doing the install twice and have got the same problem. Can you help? • Hey I cant thank you enough, just got my touchpad off Woot.com and love it kinda... Web OS still needs some polish its a little sluggish... I went through this vid step by step and have CM7 loaded with out any issues. Thanks again keep em coming.

  • Great video got it working perfecting with CM9. Thanks!

Anyone having a problem with rotating the TP on ICS? If I put 8 icons for apps on a row when in portrait then turn the home screen to landscape it changes to a max of 7 icons and so the far right column disappears. Anyone know how to fix this? Maybe change the max amount of icons in trebuchet? I can't figure it out!

  • Is anyone having issues with wi-fi strobe? I got it to connect on the first boot of CM9 and it worked perfectly for a few minutes, then cut out and I can't get it to reconnect.

  • @DARKZERO216psn If you are running moboot 0.3.5, the upgrade won't affect your Android. If you are running 0.3.3 like I was, it will break moboot. Hopefully, you are running 0.3.5.

  • reverendkjr can you help me with getting through the cmd im running everything through an old windows xp dell laptop

  • Can't get it into recovery mode. I have done it before, but strangely it won't work anymore. Any insights?

  • @TheTimeMuffin Don't worry I had preware and mine worked perfectly

  • Wow the best idiots guide for this Thank You!!! followed all steps and it worked perfectly for me!!

  • worked grat....have already done it for like 5 people

  • I got to the point when the Touchpad boots into "Double penguin mode" but it seems to fail. It doesn't finish installing, or resetting or anything.

  • @TheTimeMuffin Hard reboot the tablet by holding power button and home button together for 30 seconds. Then, take a look at your CMINSTALL folder and its contents....and try again.

  • @reverendkjr cminstall folder in root of touchpad, containing moboot, the cm7.1.0 zip, and the cmw zip as well. Not sure what I'm missing :(

  • @reverendkjr Everything looks identical. Would if make a difference if Preware is installed on the Touchpad?

  • @reverendkjr And now when I try, in command, I get a message saying "bad or error response from other side: 'err -1 bad command string'"

I think I'm gunna just enjoy my webos for now.

  • best tutorial on YouTube really hard to find someone explain every little step and what to expect awesome 10 out of 10

  • I got CM9 to work, and I downloaded the right version of gapps, but for some reason they didn't appear on my touchpad. I'm new to rooting, but is there any way to just install them separately?

  • @saupton You can install the gapps file with ClockWork Recovery. Just choose "install zip file" and choose the gapps file.

  • Just wanted to give a little keyboard tip for getting CD (change directory).

For example: to get a command prompt window for C: > Program Files > Palm, Inc

    In Windows,

    navigate to Program Files,

    scroll down to Palm, Inc,

While holding down the Shift Key

Right Click on the Palm, Inc Folder

A menu will pop up with the option to "Open Command Window Here"

Select that option and Bingo.. You saved a couple of minutes having to manually change directories via the command prompt window.

  • Just wanted to say thanks to @reverendkjr for this video. Followed instructions with a successful CM9 Boot

  • hi, please can you help. i've followed your video and installed android on my touchpad. everything works great except market place, when i try to load it all i get is server error message. i've serched different forums to try to fix it myself but nothing is working. your my last hope. thanks

  • @dazerboy24 I would reinstall the gapps files.

  • @reverendkjr

thanks for all your help, i'm not sure what i did wrong first time think i downloaded the wrong file (tried doing ics). i decided to un-install everything and retry using exactly the same websites and programs as in video. worked a treat i now have android working fine on my touchpad. a fantastic video very easy to follow as every step is detailed. once again thank you very much for this video,

  • Also something that you might want to add is that when you are installing CM9 on the touchpad using ACMEInstaller2, you want to type in ACMEInstaller2 in CMD instead of ACMEInstaller. A TON of people are going to screw this up. Additionally, for anyone who is like me and was worrying about not being able to watch videos on the Youtube app due to lack of video hardware acceleration, you can relax. The Youtube app will work as long as you turn off the HD on HD Videos. ;)

  • when i click on the link to download the novacominstaller file it downloads fine. but when i click on the file to run. it just open in winrar. it appears to be a zip file not .jar i tried redownload couple times but still the same. Please help.

  • @lilviet143 It is a jar file, but you have winrar associated to jar files. You need to open it with java. Try right clicking and do Open With and chose java

  • When i hit enter in CMD my touchpad doesnt do anything. I've re checked all my files and everything seems to be in place. Suggestions?

  • @soulite55 Your tablet is struggling to talk to the computer. Try a different usb cable, or a different usb port. Try removing other usb devices and reboot computer.

  • If I were to later on decide to upgrade from the current CM9.0.6 to some future version, would I just repeat this process? Would I have to delete anything or would the installer just overwrite my previous installation?

  • Can You Please tell me that can i use this method on a UBISLATE 7+ which will have Gingerbread pre-installed in it with 700MHZ Processor and 256GB Ram.Can I Use This HP TOUCHPAD CYANOGENOD METHOD IN UBISALTE 7+.If Not is there any chance to put in it.

SPECIFICATIONS OF UBISLATE 7+:: Android OS 2.3 Cortex A8, 700 Mhz Processor with HD Video Co Processor 256 MB RAM Storage: (Internal) 2GB Flash / (External) 2GB to 32GB Supported

  • @ssk86ful Each device is different. You will want to find a forum that is specific to your device.
