If I may opine, I would like to say there seems to be an ideological pandemic affecting the worlds celebrities that causes them to make remarkably ignorant and one sided statements regarding world politics - e.g. Sting's most recent statement on President Obama. Maybe I am in the minority, but when I go to a show, I want to be awed by their talent and creativity and could really care less about the artist's point of view on much of anything and that is whether I agree with them or not.

He claims he distrusts government, yet he believes in global warming, and the copenhagen treaty will solve the issue. id like to add, GOVERNMENT would be in charge. he is a hypocrite. now people who are ignorant, are just going to give me a negative.

But the point of music is to express yourself through art. To make your audience feel the way you do... And as much as I love Radiohead, I think the fans are becoming blind to the message; all they want now is melody.
This, unfortunately, is why such polished artists like Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Kanye West are making shit loads of money at the top of the charts.

Wow. I didn't realize you were an authority on Thom Yorke's wishes or the ulterior motives of concert audiences.
People see the shit every time they turn on a television or double click internet explorer. Most people go to concerts to forget about the political bullshit for 2 hours. You pay 40 bucks to see an artist perform their songs, not preach their political ideologies. I've seen Radiohead 4 times and I am happy that Thom never pulled a Bono at any of those shows. It's about the music.

I'm not sure if you know this but Montréal has a fairly large English speaking / Bilingual population.
I'm pretty sure that most of the crowd was aware that his comment's were directed at the war in Iraq seeing as this performance was recorded 3 months after the invaision of Iraq.

If I may opine, I would like to say there seems to be an ideological pandemic affecting the worlds celebrities that causes them to make remarkably ignorant and one sided statements regarding world politics - e.g. Sting's most recent statement on President Obama. Maybe I am in the minority, but when I go to a show, I want to be awed by their talent and creativity and could really care less about the artist's point of view on much of anything and that is whether I agree with them or not.
