I was at the concert and i got pissed off when he wanted someone to go up there and sing. I was really looking forward to hearing this damn song. I wanted to hear Green Day play that song, not some random chick from the audience. that was BS.
@Cruzaflo I don't think they've played this song themselves this entire tour -- I saw shows in Philly and in Camden, and folks came up to sing each time (Philly was OK, Camden a catastrophe!), so if you weren't expecting people to be brought up to sing and enjoy themselves on Longview, you haven't been paying attention. As John Lennon said to Mike Douglas or someone (I paraphrase), "what's the big deal? you've always got the records!"

I think it's great they do it and hope they keep it up. Playing the song twice: that's boring!

It's a great idea, they pull it off well, the kids who sing or play have a grand time, unlike any other experience they can have at a show like that, it's all very Gilman Street. At the Camden show, 5 or 6 people from the pit got on stage, shared the mike with Armstrong, danced, sang, the whole damn thing. Look for the Youtube of the young girl in Buffalo who played guitar on Knowledge -- fantastic.
