  • Why is your earth texture darker, i cant find that on the site, did you color correct it?

  • add a bump map.

  • what button you press too copy the cloud map man ????? pleasse

  • @2050miltons just click and drag the map, that simple :)

  • The cloud one i kind of figured by myself in the end. But as for the reflections, I'll give that a go tonight and let you know. Thanks so much. :)

  • @leemarvinuk09 np mate and ask more info if you need :)

  • Quick question.... Does anyone know how to get the clouds to cast shadows on the surface and is there a way of getting the oceans to reflect light. For example in a low-level close shot?

  • @leemarvinuk09 about the cloud casting shadow, you could try make another layer from cloud layer, put it under cloud layer, make it black and then blur it a bit, that's how it will cast shadow, and if you want reflect you need to get spec_map (black and white) from earth (google it), then put it in the spec lvl and then invert it so that it does not reflect ground but ocean. Hope this helped :)

  • hey mate have a problem maybe you can solve when i apply the earth map and cloud map to sphere its always slightly blurry like its all made up of tiny squares why is this happening its just not sharp looking the definition is really poor ...any ideas?

  • @xxUrbanwookiexx well thats normal if you havent yet rendered picture by F9 button (shortcut button), if its blurry after you have rendered the picture then its all about you texture, and you should find new one :/, but yeah in those 4 views, where you make objects, if it is there blurry and squares, that is just normal, just press F9 and you will see result. :D

  • @AlienThe1 yeh just tried that and its still blurry no one has been able to help me with it and im using google earth maps ive tried a fair few of them different sizes aswell and still the same is there something im missing

  • @xxUrbanwookiexx hmm mayde its just that the texture is so bad that it makes those bad looking areas. But anyways I will make your life easier, I now will put link in video discription where I found my maps :D

I hope it will make your life easier :)

  • @xxUrbanwookiexx Have you had any luck? I've the same problem but I'm thinking it's because my cloud texture is half the resolution of my surface texture which is about 4000 pixels. I'm still looking for a similar size cloud map. Let me know how you get on. Thanks

  • @kevinrccozier Thank you mate, Ill post more videos as soon as I find out where there is no tutorials :)

  • sorry but this tutorial suck, wth r u doing all time showing the pictures of the maps and not explainning wich buttons r u pressing. i'm trying to do it and im getting mad

  • I made video HD so that you can see what I am pressing, that way i save your time reading text, when you can see what i click.... I said this would be quick tutorial and it was... plase check the HQ button next to volume burron and you will see what I am pressing...

and the reason why I am showing maps, is because the maps are here the most important thing...

sorry mate but this is just simple tutorial, just for the cause you to explore 3D studio max setting... i just gave you push forward :)

  • i wanted to told u in positive way. i think u should go slower. thx anyway for posting the tutorial

  • Thank you mate, I know that i should have gone slower, at first I did, and the video lasted 23min and the size was 4,2Gb just because it was HQ, and that size video even if you cut it in half would not go in youtube... that why I made quick tutorial so that it would fit in youtube... :(

  • @AlienThe1 where did you get the textures

  • @mrcooban You can get textures when you google like 2k, 4k, 8k earth maps.. cloud was tricky the get..

  • I am now working on the sunrise/set effect on my earth model...then make clouds and atmosRIM...see my videos for more...

  • ofc mate just post it here and I shall sheck it :D
