To clear up any confusion, Liona did not label herself, "The First Lady of the Guitar". That was thought up by CBS record company execs when they were promoting her at the time when she was signed to their record label. The "First Lady" handle had nothing to do with her dating Canada's prime minister Pierre Trudeau. CBS tagged her with that handle many years before she met him.
The term "First Lady" is used here in the way one refers to the President's wife as The First Lady, it is not to suggest she is the first, nor even the best lady of the instrument. We all rember Ida Presti, Sharon Isbin and so many other Grand Dames of the guitar. Liona is a modest and dedicated instrumentalist who has taken the guitar to a new audience and must be respected for this, as well as for her formidable technique. How tragic that the damage to her right hand has curtailed her career.
It seems whoever made this documentary forgets about Ida Presti. Boyd is not the first woman of classical guitar. I'll excuse anyone else in the video because they probably don't know anything about music anyway, but where is the research? Other than that its great.

I just can't seem to get enough of Liona. I just LOVE her!! She moves me so!!

Before the 1930's, the guitar was considered a "womens instrument." Some very famous guitarists at mid-century learned to play from their mothers.

She is fantastic! The fist women to play classical guitar, a trend setter. Hopefully some other girls will take up guitar due to her influence.
