  • This is actually 1990

  • oh an danother thing. HOW THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE SITTING DOWN. i wouldve been up there getting securitied out singing along.

  • its 1151pm im durnk on whiskey and listening to prison bound. cuz im on a suspended jail sentence and one more arrest IM THERE! this song reminds me to walk the line. Thanks Mike.

  • THE NAME SOCIAL DISTORTION IS TALIKNG ABOUT THE HUMAN RACE-UNLESS THE HUMAN BEING IS ENLIGHTENED THEY HAVE A SOCIAL DISTORTION ABOUT THEM MEANING THEY ARE FOUNDED ON LIES DECEPTION-LIKE THE WHOLE FAMILY STRUCTURE IN AMERICA-FROM HOLIDAYS-TO BIRTHDAYS-TO THE RELIGO-POLITICal CORRUPTION GIVING OUR ENERGYS ON THOSE SPECIFIC DAYS--------IS REALLY OCCULT HOLIDAYS AND SABBATS-WHERE THE ILLUMINATI HAS SACRIFICIAL BLOOD RITUALS THE ZODIAC CALENDER WE KNOW-WHILE WE live in fantasy

  • I'm a hardcore punk listener, but ness is fuckin' great, he's the experimenter... the iggy pop of the punk

  • it's 11 am, i'm high and listening to social distortion

  • I don't agree that Social D is past their prime...... Yeah Machine Gun Blues might not be the "Opus" of Mike Ness' music library but "SEX LOVE & ROCK N ROLL" is probably one of if not their best albums..... And there is a whole right with "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes"...... I'll admit White Light White Heat White Trash wasn't a great album but Ness came back hard with those next two.

  • ya i agree on both ways but i respect your opinion

  • This is genuine. It's what makes rock great.

  • usually when a band is at thier greatest its in thier prime like this video with thier best line up... but social distortion got better the older they got

  • @superryu11 well... no, they were in their prime in the 90's, their new stuff is not nearly as good as songs like "story of my life," "i was wrong" "ball and chain" etc. i mean yea they had some good songs in the 2000's like "reach for the sky" and "far behind" but they are not nearly as good as the older songs

  • this was actually in april of 1990 during an event called Request Video

  • Dennis would have turned 50 yesterday. RIP, bro.

  • I haven't fallen out of love with Mike Ness since the 80's----- thats longer than any relationship I've ever had hahaha He just gets better with age. The band keeps evolving!

  • @vaporosoez yep. all these long term, devoted relationships he doesn't even know about.....

  • I haven't fallen out of love with Mike Ness since the 80's----- thats longer than any relationship I've ever had hahaha

  • His voice got better with the pass of the years

  • i love how mike still wears the same stuff

  • it was 88 because i toured w/ them for a while. one shitty van. my pay was a 12 pack after each show. they were doing a "warm up" tour between Prison bound and the self titled. Mike was pretty fresh out of prison and kept to himself a lot.

  • lmao, is this concert on the east coast or something? Because any show I saw in Cali. the crowd was rackin their azzes off! this crowd is...well, dead.

Anyways, been following Social D since I was turned on to them in '80. Ness writes some of the best lyrics I know, and damn, he can wail on that guitar too!

  • there's the guy that inspired me to play guitar and there's the band that been for all us through hard times.

  • daaamn.. what a lame crowd.

  • I REMEMBER SEEIN THESE GUYS AT THE 930 CLUB IN DC BACK IN THE DAY, SEEN S.D. SO MANY FUCKING TIMES...GREAT MUSIC AND MIKE IS COOL AS FUCK...PLEASE CLICK HERE AND CHECK OUT MY MUSIC....

  • @the13thjinx I was livin in DC during those times too. What was the other place everybody went to... 9:30 Club and... I think it started wth a "c"

  • @vaporosoez you talkin about the BlackCat?

  • @the13thjinx I wanna say it was The Complex or something like that.... I heard Social D played at the 9:30 Club on this current tour---- too bad I'm on the other coast now! I had tickets to see them nearby and the guys got the flu... said they would reschedule... I am sulking..... I was sooooo psyched : [ Hope they come back.

  • It's 2 p.m., I'm drunk and listening to social d.

  • live from public access channel...1987

  • I cant wait to see them in Sydney!

  • mike ness was born with full tattoo sleeves

  • los 3 q votaron negativo no saben nada de musika

  • Damn....Ness, so hot :D

  • i'll be back one day

  • Social D kickin ass since '78! It amazes me that back when everyone looked like major fags or sex offenders with the style that was in that Social D was like one of the very few bands that didn't follow that bullshit & did their own thing.

  • @Belk1488

Wow. Mike Ness hates people like you. Go to the search field above and lookup the string "mike ness makeup lesson." IDK how old you are, but I was there in '78. You don't have a clue what you are talking about.

  • @AngrySemite The hell does his makeup lesson have to do with how dorky people looked in the 70's - 90's. Look at old pictures and tell me a man with a giant stache standing next to an astro or panel van doesn't look like a rapist.

  • @Belk1488

You-"everyone looked like major fags "

Mike- "Guys think you're gay because you have eyeliner, mascara, a little nail polish on."

Your comments are offensive to the punk ethos. If you watch the movie you'll see the guys sneaking in the back of clubs to avoid getting beaten by bikers. Calling people fags is exactly what they were trying to get away from. And anyway, Mike dressed like every other punk back then.

  • @AngrySemite Don't get me wrong I love Social D buuuuutttt makeup is a chick thing & well usually if a guy would wear it he'd be gay but mike being the exception to that. I like them makeup or not but makeup just aint manly.

  • @Belk1488 Mike Ness spends more on makeup than the GNP of most countries in the world.

  • @BillGotBanned Thank god he slacks on the makeup now.

  • @BillGotBanned ok dude. i bet you are a treat in conversation.

  • in the live at Roxy album , prison bound has one of the most badass intro's i ever heard he puts so much heart into all those songs at live at the Roxy its fucking amazing.

  • I believe this is 1988 ish.. no way its 1983 because Reese and Maure where not in the band in 1983. I believe this was a show called Request Video hosted by the Poorman a DJ from KROQ in Los ANgeles.. You can see him moving out of the cameras way in the beginning of the video.

  • @Jdakota

Not to mention Mike was a skinny kid in tons of makeup and a tall, spiked, died fade in 1983.

  • @Jdakota ...and this song wouldn't have existed then.

  • their best song!

  • I would like to hear lyrics from Mike if he were to relapse now. He would die, but, the songs would be amazing.

  • They were too ahead of their time. Shame they never got the true recognition and love they deserved. They pioneered a sound and style (which itself was of course derivative of the rock/country/blues they were brought up on) that no one is really able to emulate. Listening to them got me so interested in the components that make up the sound. What I love about them is that they really bring forth a past era of rock, while always incorporate the modern rock flair.

  • quite a socialy distorted crowd lol

  • thats a really lame crowd! :D

  • @phukdeebiatch cause they were playing in a studio

  • i doubt that this was even in 88. early 90's maybe

  • @hatchet0dude true that

  • check out Five Alarm Fire, John Maurer's band (bass player in this vid, cool as fuck), saw them a couple weeks back, awesome and played a few SD tracks too

  • he's like fonze..

  • holy crap people are in chairs wtf... and theres no moshpitss !!!

  • Hhahaha it looks like the crowd is getting brain fucked by a little social D

  • I'm convinced that Mike Ness was born with sleeves.

  • @sororyzbl LOL I WAS SORTA THINKING THE SAME HES HAD SLEEVES FOR DECADES NOW

  • going to see Social D tonight at the Hampton Beach Casino. Always a great show...

  • where are the dancing people?? this crowd is shit..

  • regardless of what he looks like, this obviously cant be 83.... listen to the song..from 87

  • lol... there's like twelve people in the audience.

  • yes i was god what a killer song they are still ripping the scene up.... 007 brian

  • mike with hair lol haha

  • Greatest (and most underrated) band of all time. Mike Ness is a legend. God, I miss the days when music was actually MUSIC... All we have today is a bunch of overproduced, radio-friendly garbage put together by faceless, nameless corporate assholes who only care about padding their own bottom lines.

  • I dont care what you say. these are legends.

  • this defenitly from 88. Mike Ness didn't look like this 83, in 83 he had spikey hair and dressed like an old school punk

  • @skatepunkzero not that what he dresses like really matters all that much..

  • @AndrewisFearless Yea I know that, Im was just saying because people were saying this vid is from 83, but in 83 he looked like how he did from another state of mind

  • 83 not 88

  • mike ness is slick in this vid

  • it even says 83 down in the right corner

  • @MrWarface: That's not a 3, it's an 8!!! Put your glasses back on!!! This song is from the "Prison Bound" album=1988! .....But shouldn't you already know that!

  • I think thats 83 not 88. If you dont like S.D. you need a check up from da neck up! haha

  • the best songwriter the punkrock movement ever produced IMO...

  • Comment removed

  • Actually it's NOT from 1983! That would be quite impossible (LOL). This would'a been about 88 or so. The album "Prison Bound" was released in 1988 on TimeBomb-Recordings. The song "Prison Bound" is the fifth song from the top.

  • You are probably right but I wouldn't say impossible as you know songs are often written and sung long before they are released (LOL). I know a few songwriters who performed their own songs for years only to have them released by another artist years later. I guessed if I cared I could've looked it up so thanks for that.

  • damnit he always looks and sounds good....one cool kat

  • you all know he got raped in prison.admit it. you all know it.

  • This is an amazing live performance, as said in some earlier versions, i honestly think this is better than the album version

I really wish to see them live one day.

Too bad they scarcely come down to Australia, but i'm sure i will be one of the first with a ticket when they decide to : )

  • Feelings!

  • SxDx is mellow punk!! IDIOT!!

  • @TheParadoxZero

you blink didnt form until 1992 right.

  • @TheParadoxZero blink-182 wasn't around in 88

  • lol I got the same hairstyle as mike :D

  • Haha Maurer in his shorts...

  • @hustler0204

    LMAO

    That's pretty funny

    1980s style

    =P

  • Good stuff!!!! This is some really nice, mellow punk. Social Distortion did a good job of proving that punk doesn't always have to be pissed off and played super fast to be good {Not that there's anything wrong with that style}, they proved that you could play punk slower and mellower without being a mainstream pop punk band. Thank you Mike Ness and all the rest!

  • Actually there's many punk bands (past and present) that have nothing to do with being pissed-off and playing fast! ....>And Social Distortion is nowhere near being one of the first! Not even close! ....I do like'em though but, >there seems to be too many poser types (blinkboyband-182) whom would just love to name-drop'em one too many times in order to be chic-80s-retro. .....Sad

  • how could you witness this and stay sitting down? i can barely keep in my seat as it is

  • bad ass!!! So-Cal!!

  • i like both versions but this is a tad bit better

  • holy shit this is better than the album version.

  • Incredible vid of one of my favorite songs. Too bad the crowd wasn't into it.

  • thats a sorry ass crowd

  • but how lucky they were...

  • man, its a bunch of young so cal kids seeing something they never saw before. just watch the video and fuckin relax before you get all high and mighty...

  • Some of the best lyrics of all time.

  • I just found out that Guns and roses opened for them in '86

  • whats with the "fans" @ 2:50 ?

  • what about them? they are diggin the band man.

  • i agree this is awesome, someoone post the full set!!!

  • Where can you find this complete set? Insane!

  • love that!

    mike ness is a god!

  • his vocals sound waaaaaaay cleaner then the music

  • remember this is '88

  • If you guys want to know when they tour, they usually tour starting in August and until winter and then they head back

    to Orange County.

  • I feel Ness and his band only gets better and better!!

  • I love this video.

    I love this band.

I love you for uploading it. Thanks alot.

  • dennis is playing my guitar woooo :)

  • Timeless

  • SKREW U, HE's been clean for Yrs.

  • My "gasoline in his veins" comment was not to piss you off. What I should have rather said was adrenaline or raw emotion in Mike's guitar playing. I know he's been clean for 20+yrs.

  • Amazing what Sickboy can do with a Gibson Les Paul in his hands and gasoline in his veins. SxDx's music isn't for an era or generation it's for all time. Today's musicians should take lessons from this highly underated band on how to keep your music popular damn near 30 years later with minimal radio and old MTV exposure.

  • mike ness I want bite you. ohmygosh.

  • i want sd to come to aus!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • seeing them next weekend for the first time. been listening since i was 8...10 yrs later i get to see them....im going to get chills.

  • brawlinbo i so agee with that!!!!

  • I believe this is from Request Video. Anyone else remember Request Video? You know where all the cool bands played for kids who didn't have cable. Same channel as Wally George.

  • request video it was.thank god for request video with poorman and gia

  • wow i just crapped my pants this track is so good

  • social D, the best band

  • mike ness is a god

  • This is the baddest fuckin' song Ive ever heard!

  • you know shit 'bout good music my man!

  • ow shit, i was thinking yyou're finding it bad (poor), but if you mean BADASS, it's ok ;)

  • Man, this is my favorite song. Love this shit.

  • Your welcome, between 1981-85 I saw S.D. dozens of times then once more in 2002 In the early 80's they didn't look or sound like that also Mike had less tattoos. 1988 more like it.

  • Fyi,That is not from 1983 more like late 80's

  • Yeah, I didn't think it really looked like 83 but I couldn't tell what it said on the bottom of the screen..I guess it was 88. Thanks, I changed it.
