milk crates are fairly easy to "borrow" *wink wink* from schools or even colleges. Just find where the back of the cafeteria is...usually a dumpster and loading dock...and most of the time there is just a stack sitting out there. Might have to try diff days of the week. Just a suggestion :) Thanks for the video!!! I think im donna try this!
@aljotock. thanks and good call on the third leg. I've been place the cart on top of my small Pelican case and it worked out for me but definitely...one day I will add a small third leg that can be swing up/down. Have a great day!
Brilliant. You guys keep Youtube alive! I've coped out and bought a C - Tug, but, if I may, can I suggest a little extra leg at the back which stands the trolley upright until you put the kayak on? My mate's got a C - tug with no extra leg and it's a pain to use.
Made one used it on my jon boat.....worked great! Forget a trailer or waiting by the loading dock take it through the woods and launch it practically anywhere! Thanks!
I'm trying to find all the components of my trolley in the garbage. Most of the parts are available except the wheels. I got the yak & all the fixin's but the budget ain't gonna cover anything else so it's a garbage diggin' I'll be goin'
Oh! and if any company wants to prosecute for stealing their milkcrate, just say you found it in bushland and they'll face littering, OH&S and environmental charges for not taking control of their property! Not that it would ever get to court.. there are millions of them out there....$2000 fine my arse!!!
love it !!!....Ive been looking at making a trolley and a chuck box . But if storage is a problem on board for others maybe they could use a folding ( flip up) plastic storage crates available online. This has gotta be the best trolley to date ...weldone! ( Dont ya just love eccentrics)
Great Idea, but if you get caught with the milk crates (which you sooner or later will) It is actually a fine of about $2000 (which is a lot more than a commercial kayak trolley would have cost you)... Well thats the Australian laws anyway.. Check your crate, make sure it doesnt have a "This crate remains the property of ..." warning on it first.
Really? $2000? Wow! Well, I think it's logical if you use something that's not yours, but in Argentina you can buy a crate like that for beer bottles.

This is a cool little cart. I'm looking at getting maybe getting a larger canoe. This cart will help out in that respect.

what is the rod that sticks into the wheels called. It looks like he inserts a hitch pin clip into it to secure the wheel. Thanks.
TheJesusChick 2 years ago
Its a half inch aluminum rod from Home Depot. I drilled two holes at the ends to put the hitch pin.
quocducnguyen 2 years ago
Excellent idea!!! I especially like how it doubles as a rod holder. Thanks for sharing your great idea.

Nice. Serves as it's own storage! Where did you get the wheels for it and the axle?
mishmosh2000 3 years ago
the axle just looks like a threaded lag bolt.home supply center. about 3/8's maybe. looks to be about the simplest cart ive seen so far.
tunedin2 3 years ago
The aluminum axle rod is from Home Depot and the wheels are from Northern Tool. Yes, it serves as a storage bin and 4 fishing rods holder.
