If you hear a beautiful piece of classical music with Italian lyrics you can't understand what they're saying either, who gives a fuck it's all about the sound it gets across. Those who are interested can find out easy enough and they probably mean something to the vocalist. Death metal is not about making it accessible and easy to listen to it's meant to be abrasive

All of those bands (minus Decrepit Birth and Arsis) are 80's/90's bands. Modern American metal is nothing but Metalcore and deathcore. Canada is more technical death metal (Neuraxis, Quo Vadis, Martyr, Cryptopsy, Gorguts, etc). America has the NY death metal scene, but thats also more of a 90's scene (Immolation, Incantation, Suffocation, etc). Im not saying America has no good metal, but no good artists and Europe has better metal.

Just because you create something doesnt mean you did it best. Very few American metal bands from the 80's and 90's are going just as strong as they were back in their prime, and there is no decent young generation to replace them. The only music that comes out in America is core music. While, Europe has variety, where death metal, black metal, power metal, folk metal continue to thrive. Canada is mostly renowned for just technical death metal.

America has shit black metal, especially in comparison to europe. There are 2 black(end death) metal bands from America that i like (The Funeral Pyre and Angelcorpse). No one can compete with Emperor, Mayhem, Old Mans Child or Deathspell Omega. Europe has sick technical death metal too. Necrophagist, Obscura, Pestilence and Decapitated are all European. America has good bands, but no NEW good ones, all the good ones are old generation.

I like Goatwhore, but Skeltonwitch is just garbage. The only good black metal America has is blackened-death, and even that isnt as good as Behemoth, Belphegor or Zyklon from europe. Old Mans Child is melodic black metal, and they can be a bit hard to get into. Ill be seeing Decapitated too, this sunday at SS in NYC.

I know black metal from Iran, Singapore and Turkey, to Japan, Ukraine and Russia. Not gonna lie though, its alot harder to find good black metal from the USA. The only good bands i can think of are Imperial Crypt, The Funeral Pyre, Angelcorpse, Wolves in the Throne Room and Profitanica. America certainly has more metal in other genres, but not nearly as good black metal as anywhere else.

As for Necrophagist, yeah, they do overuse the Harmonic minor in all of their riffs. Their solos though, i think are where they shine. Muhammad has a real mastery of the guitar. I know however, that talent doesnt substitute for good songwriting, and the best musician in the world can be a shitty songwriter, so i can see how you might not like them. Each is to their own. Nile, i will agree is absolutly amazing. Kolias is a fuckign insane drummer, i wanted to see them with Immolation but couldnt.

Origin are ok, but as far as technical death bands go im more for Cryptopsy, Atheist, Pestilence, and bands that use more jazz sounds in their death metal. Or bands that use more classical/avant-garde elements (Necrophagist, Death, Gorguts). The more brutal bands are just as good though, but my tastes lead me towards other bands.

I dont know too many songs off that EP firsthand, but from hearing a few of them you might like Septic Flesh (symphonic death metal), Krisiun (death metal), Vital Remains ((technical) death metal), Dying Fetus (death metal), Suffocation (brutal death). Although, Vader has a sound all their own, and its hard to find a sound like it. But those bands have somewhat similar sounds (depends on the album).
