I went to Cincinnati from Covington Kentucky in 2001 to train with Aaron Pyor after my coach Terry O'Brian said it would be in my best interest. I never went pro but I had a decent ameture record at age 19 when I quit boxing to take a good job.
@Solowizard Couldn't disagree more. Rather, amazing the junk people will POST! I loved this upload. May God bless one of the toughest, most fearless fighters I've ever seen.
i would put pryor and a young ali neck and neck as the most entertaining fighter ive ever seen.....its a shame he never got to fight leonard or hearns.....would have been classic
I'm sorry to hear about Aaron Pryor, I'm from Philly and there's a lot of former boxing legions in the area whose experiencing similar hardships. As boxing fan, it's our duty to up lift these guys by telling them we remember how great they once were. And if you're able, buy them a meal or allow them to earn a few honest bucks. Holler back at ChuckStrong777@aol.com. By the way, I don't think fighters are afraid of one another either, it's about the money.
I'm a huge SRL fan. A huge Hawk fan too. Too bad the promoters could never make the fight happen. I don't believe men like SRL or any guys that fight at that level duck anyone it's all about the money . Why would SRL get in the ring with Duran or Hagler, Hearns. Money is why. Fear doesn't enter into it. It's not about whos's the baddest it's about getting paid. Now we have Maywether and Pac. They want the biggest pay day ever. Seriously they've fought their whole life. NO FEAR
This man is definitely the greatest fighters ever, no hugging no roids just a pure fighter. Manny and floyd would have got killed against pryor!! maybe floyd would have survived because of his defense.
I am not sure guys, but just clarify to me. The problem in Pryor's eye was a lesion after the second match with Arguello? Pryor was a great boxer, I think one of the best. Arguello and Pryor were very close friends. R.I.P. for Alexis Arguello.
@supotnapp I would agree with that more than almost any other comparison, b/c of the way pryor improvised, fought a high octane style and was a better than average puncher. I still contend that pryor was underrated and ahead of manny all time (but manny isn't done). It must be said, pryor is a guy like mike tyson... I actually think pryor could've been that much better. I think he beats leonard, hearns, and duran (in the 80s/not 70's and not lw)... hagler was prolly too big for him though.
Pryor comes into a local bar in Northside in Cincinnati and buys 40 ounces all the time. Nothing wrong with having a drink, just hope he keeps it under control!! I always felt bad for him. Hope he can pass on his mistakes to the kids at Millvale gym...
@Chaz770 TREMENDO BOXEADOR AARON PRYOR PARA MI EL MEJOR WALTER JUNIOR DE LA CATEGORIA......PERO ESTE BOXEADOR ME DEJO MUCHAS DUDAS COMO LE GANO A ALEXIS ARGUELLO....CUALQUIER BOXEADOR EN UN 14 ROUND DE UN COMBATE TAN DURO Y TAN PAREJO ESTA CANSADO Y PRYOR PARECIA FRESCO COMO SI NADA COMO UN TORO EN EL 1 ROUND...PARA MI ESTABA DROGADO .......Y ASI GANO VARIAS PELEAS QUE TENIA COMPLICADAS....INCLUSIVE CUANDO LE GANO A PAMBELE..........
@3000amoroso Sí, entiendo y estoy de acuerdo con usted. La triste verdad es que creo que muchos de estos boxeadores usan esteroides. Manny se parece a un clásico caso de un usuario
im gonna have to get that book..sounds like a good read. picked up a bargain today @ my local £1 shop. de la hoyas autobiography..was well chuffed. :)
