Naah, it's not about TV brainwashing us. You take a look at any chart or index that measures and rates standard of living by country, and you'd have a bunch of African countries at the bottom. Just like everyone thinks all the European countries are shitting money cus of rich countries like the UK, France, Germany and the Scandinavian ones, while countries like Moldova and Ukraine are pretty dirty and poor. There are some gems in Africa, Botswana is one of them.

True, and dont also forget that the dispary in income between the population within each country varies greatly. Another thing to consider when comparing countries and welfare. Since the fall of the Soviet Union for example the poor in those countries has become almost third world citizens. I like comparing countries and draw conclusions.
