  • I totaly agree about the fact that 2D supposed to be more supported. However i wish this game would be finished and released. Jazz series was to great to end on second part.

  • I really like the 3D aspect of the game. On a programming aspect of this game it looks really nice to me. People fail to remember that this was a proof of concept meaning that everything could have been changed.

  • can u plaz with SPAZ?

  • 2D is better in Jazz Jackrabbit games. It's more retro.

  • it's demo

  • in my opinion a succesful Jazz Jackrabbit 3 would be a game with the same gameplay as Jazz 2 (maybe a lil' bit better control), a better graphics and new weapons, awsome levels, maybe a new character and some new stuffs I don't know something with epic games can amaze us, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 fans. I'm sure that all Jazz 2 fans want this.

  • I demand a new Jazz Jackrabbit game! This time, make it in 2D. I'm sure the real Jazz Jackrabbit fans will enjoy it. ;)

  • Fur Fighters=Improved version of Jazz3D

  • omg this sucks so hard ,pfsh

  • I don't know why you guys keep complaining ...I must say that I loved Jazz2, and I played this one as well, and loved it as much.

  • they should make a megaman game out of the engine for this game

  • 3d game development are really hard to create.. not technically, but gameplay.... 2d is a lot easier..

  • They should have made another 2D platform game with 3D graphics instead. Like nintendo did with New Super Mario Bros.

I'm something of a 3D freak myself but I think it's obvious how little effort they put into those hills and stuff in the natural terrain. I mean the grass is just plain green.

And then the story is kinda lame Devan (return of the big bad guy) kidnapped Jazz's kids.

  • I'm still waiting for Epic to stop pissing around with Gears and get started on another Jazz title.

  • sidescroller > 3d, in almost every aspect.

  • well i have a version of this game and i got to say that is pretty good.I mean that the controllers at this game are very good , rare you can find such type of controllers in a pc game and its like a ratcher and clank game but on a pc not ps2 or ps3.

Yeah , i know that the graphics aren't very good and the level design sucks.

Well the music is pretty good , it has that 80s' atmosphere , but you have to turn the music on from the options.

But hey , this is just a beta after all .

  • @pauliancu (continue)So yeah this is just a beta game so i think that Epic Games could improve this things , but they didn't find a publisher so the project was canceled . Take for example the level design , i am sure that they were thinking at some more difficult levels for this game and more enemys and i also belive that they were going to have cinematics and a more big story but now Epic Games is busy with games like Gears of War , BulletStorm and Unreal Tournament .

  • thats when games got bad

every game developer suddenly felt the need to switch to 3D

    do not want

  • @xoriclee Blame Sony - the Playstation 1's big selling point was consumer-grade 3D (polygonal) technology back when that kind of thing was a rarity. Sony had very strict rules on the number of 2D games available for the system, and wanted their library to be primarily constructed of 3D games. We almost did not get Mega Man X4, or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night because of the "anti-2D" rules. Developers switched to 3D because Sony was the hardware leader and pushed everyone in that direction.

  • @BlazeHedgehog MM 3D and now with 3D Sony should name its company Sony 3D.

  • sucks

  • Never forget the little rabbit with the big gun. :D

  • Jazz in 3D is not bad, but Jazz in 2D is much better

  • Looks like it could've been a good game....

  • it's not too bad but not too good either nowhere near in the same league as the first ones

  • I hope there will ever be a full version of JJR 3, doesnt matter if its 3d or not :D Yes i know they are busy with Gears of War 3 and Bulletstorm but Clifford B. can't let this franchise die!! :(

  • This 3D version contains literally NOTHING what makes Jazz Jackrabbit a hell of a game. Level design sucks ass, nothing comic/cartoon-like in it, and the factor of humor lacks completely.

  • Jessrabit 2D FTW ~

  • I have a mod file with this song. I knew this song is from somewhere.

  • Is that for PS1?

  • @BlazeHedgehog all games need like this (not the quality of the game the fact its PC exlusive) exept the odd few like WoW, Runescape and CoD

  • @MaxRideWizardLord

it could be on ps1,or ps2.but more likely ps1,or n64

  • To all those who are saying how bad it is, remember this is a VERY VERY unfinished version of it.

Once it was completed I'm sure it could have been brilliant.

    .

..but since when did Jazz have kids and know he had to rescue them?

  • Shitty made. Who the hell would say: The last thing I remember is... when you wake up in a black room with a headache?

  • @HeadbangerFromHell14 Dude, don't be silly. A lot of writing, especially for children's cartoons, has that sort "I'm narrating what I'm thinking". It's really not that uncommon.

  • Until today, I wonder why JJ2 didn't sell well. I guess it was a typical underdog because it is such a good game.

I have this demo. It's pretty interesting to watch. And it works surprisingly well on modern systems.

Why is the video's audio quality so low though? Maybe because the video is so old? It doesn't do the game's music justice, in my opinion.

  • This was unfortunately the fall of Eclipse Productions / World Tree Games. They started off brilliantly with Tyrian and previous Jazzes, had difficulties publishing and completing The Circle (also Unreal engine), and then did...this. Too bad they got lost in experimenting with 3d, seeing what genius tricks they pulled off with Tyrian. Tyrian, in my opinion, is equal to Fallout when it comes to clever and open-ended programming. Very, very few games in history have done that.

  • they should make a jazz jackrabbit game with unreal engine 3...

  • This looks SO MUCH like Spyro!

  • @RATMfan92 The soundtrack sounds similar, too.

BTW, Spyro was going to be green like Jazz, but Insomniac made him purple so he wouldn't blend in with the grass. Looks like Jazz 3 doesn't have that problem.

  • I dont think that this is "shit". I think it would had become a hit.

I've played this beta by myself and I'm a huge Jazz Jackrabbit-Fan

  • the two first games was just epic (made by epic games for sure =P). but in 3d it would sucks. every oldschool game in 2d cant be good in 3d .=( they should make a new part in 2d with hd sprite technology like in KOF XII. this game must be revived from the dead. DX

  • The JJ3 looks good... but it's too boring, looks like this game is children-only.... JJ2 the best fersion of JJ so far

  • i hope someone will continue to develope this even though it's almost impossible.

  • strangely it's become quite easy to obtain this. of course, the installer comes with EVERY version of JJ1 and JJ2, so, I'm gonna stick to trying to find people to play online with on the first two games

  • what an amazing game would this had been for an xbox 360 or a ps3

  • they turnet a beautyfull 2D game is this 3D shit

  • this game had great potential, its really unlucky and bad its not a popular title like Sonic and Mario cause they have their own animes supporting them and getting big but even though i still really think JJ is the best out of the 3, i played this demo it was really fun too bad they didnt finish it

  • After YEARS of searching for this, I was able to find it! I don't expect the uploader to approve of this comment entirely, and I can't give specific directions to it, but I WILL drop a cryptic hint: yar har. I imagine this comment will last all of 20 minutes before getting deleted if it doesn't require approval, so act fast, and good luck!

  • I wish Jazz was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I would use him every time then. :)

  • @alexforspeed One can wish, but it'll never happen because Jazz has never been on a--wait....there WAS the shitty game on the GBA, but still, don't get your hopes up, as awesome as he would be. I want Spaz as an assist trophy and maybe something with Lori too. As squeaky as they made her voice in Secret Files, she's still adorable.

  • @lilwyvern4

I know. And Nintendo didn't make Jazz Jackrabbit.

  • Whoa, interesting. Not bad for an Alpha, really makes you wonder what the final product might have been like.

  • I wish Jazz Jackrabbit 3 was also for the Nintendo 64. That would have been epic!

  • they really shoud have released JJ3.

  • *cough* you can find this on digiex *cough*

  • That'd be awesome if Epic could just pick this up again and make it using the Unreal Engine 3.

  • @BlooMassacre HAhahaah that would be awesome

  • I actually think it's kind of cool. I played the beta long ago and it was fun. I prefer the classic 2D Jazz Jackrabbit but what can you do? This game had a lot of potential. With todays technology they would've made it a bit like Ratchet & Clank with a bit of Sonic into it I think. Ah well thank God we still have JJ1 and JJ2! :D

  • @JohnnyK98k IT'S AN ALPHA.

  • I love 2D than 3D. The music is very cool.

  • I think TSF, CC and version 1.23 are the best. The Graphic's are a real let down.

    =[

  • THEY FUCKED IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is this full version?

bcuz i have this one too.

  • this looks a bit slow paced compared to the previous versions

  • oh i dont like this ! its too....i dont know ,i think the 2D versions are way way better than that.

  • The game isn't bad at all...but it would have been easier and better to just stick on to the 2D gameplay but better graphics (for the eye-candy gamers) , storyline/cheesy lines/etc.

  • 2d works better i loved coop in 2nd part xD!

  • I love the music, too bad they didn't finish it.

  • Oh shut up all of you, back in 1999 after Mario 64 every big game franchise was taking the step to 3D. The creators of Jazz 2 just thought Jazz 3 should go along with the flow.

And this game would have rocked, if a publisher had funded it.

  • #2 is so much better

  • This must be running on the unreal engine.

  • yes it was the unreal engine

  • I can tell because everything I see is really blocky, Everything I hear is midi, and everything is free.

  • it's not free, it was abandoned and this is a leaked version. I don't think the audio is midi but sounds a lot like the jazz 2 one, anyway it was in development during '90s in epic

  • Ehem. When I meant free I meant the gameplay. BTW, the game also has medievil look. Banners stretching down every where.

  • haha it looks a little bit like mario 64 but the 2d thing is better i think

  • this game is fucking good! cant understand why alot of people complain alot at this game :/

  • probably because it's an incomplete alpha demo?

  • the hud but nothing else. pretty awesome for "beta"

  • It's sad that it never got released. It looks really good.

  • Ah the good old days of early 3-D platforming.

I'm actually very impressed with this game, it looks and sounds amazing for its time.

  • hehe its like a frog jack don't know why ? bad graphic ?

  • this one suxx, i wan a new jazz jackrabbit, with 2d graphics

  • JJ2 Was The Best

  • Can you please help me? I tried to play this game on Vista but I'm having frameskip issues

  • why didn't you visit the Rocket Launch pad?

  • That sounds like Andrew Sega (AKA The Alpha Conspiracy, AKA Necros) doing the music. Know anything?

  • The entire soundtrack was done by Alexander Brandon, as far as I know.

  • OMG how could they ruin such an amazing game like that! It was best left how it was, seems to miss something hugely here, I don't like it one bit.

  • Jazz 3 was cancelled, dude. Never released. They didn't ruin it because they knew this game wouldn't work.

  • Nobody "canceled" it. Developers from Jazz 2 began working on Jazz 3 and publishers - the guys who give the developers funding, manufacture the discs, and put it on shelves - didn't pick the game up because Jazz 2 didn't sell very well (and therefore, were convinced Jazz 3 wouldn't sell well). When the money and the interest dried up, work on Jazz 3 just stopped.

  • it would have been a good franchise too as i see it from this vid :{

  • @BlazeHedgehog It is sad, really, this game would've been amazing. I loved the demo, I've explored every corner of it.

  • @BlazeHedgehog

So when you say "work on Jazz 3 just stopped"

do you mean the game is incomplete? by that I mean, can you still "beat the game" per se?

I ask this because, I "acquired" this game myself, and from what I've played so far, I enjoy it. However I don't want to play halfway through the game and then have it just cut out on me. know what I mean? help would be appreciated, thanks =P

  • @forgedeath What you see in these videos is the entire "beta". Presumably given what we know, Jazz was to visit other planets beyond Carrotus. There is a very, very glitchy rocket launch area, for example, near where you start. The beta ends once you scale to the top of the old carrotus castle, where there is an almost-unbeatable boss with tons of health. If you beat him, a rabbit NPC is released telling you to wait for the full game.

  • You're a dumbass. They just couldn't find a publisher, said "fuck it" and cancelled.

  • @Giraffasaur It's not because they didn't work it's because theya didn't found a publisher

  • Nice

  • Nooo! where are the gems!?!

  • Looks kinda cool though I prefer the old jazz jackrabbit games.

  • If this ever comes in the shops I would definitely buy this :)

  • 3d its waay too much for such a classic game. id keep with 1 and 2 this one looks a little queer. but id still play it :p

  • true, but if jj3 was 2D as well.. It didnt do good as well.

  • Man, this looks sweet. If only they finished it...

  • Hey this game should have online capabilities why dont we play a netgame?

  • Douh... couse the game is DEAD!

  • how do you load a level through the console?

  • Press ~ and type... uh, I think it's "open mapname"?

  • Thanks, it worked.

  • Jazz Jackrabbit (the first, mostly), is one of my favourite series of all time, mainly because it was the first i ever got.

They should make a high-quality 2D jazz if they want to make a sequel, in my humble opinion.

  • you're right.

i loved the 2D versions. this looks.. sad :(

  • I guess this could have been cool if completed. Jazz2 was. But hey, if they decided to revive this franchise on the modern consoles! Jazz in HD. Though I don't believe that will happen

  • jazz 2 is legendary. A brill '90s game i played when i was young to. When i hear the music it reminds me of the good times =) (p.s does any1 no where u can find it cos its to old for my pc)

  • find what lordsven22?

  • Looks like a Sega Dreamcast game with PSX/ N64 sound quality.

  • I take back this comment.

It looks like an N64 game.

  • Jazz jackrabbit 2 is awesome. I first played it about 10 years ago, loved it since. I found it on the internet a while ago.

  • I love this game :) But I mean JJ2. I grew up with this game. When I hear this music I always know it's Jazz :)

  • This game was actully awsome I got it with a bunch of games when we got a desktop acouple years ago

  • the gameplay is like a copy of spyro not kidding it moves the same way!

  • I can't believe this is really from Epic games the people who made Gears of war and unreal tornament.

also their technology has been used in other games not from Epic.

    great game though!

  • Nigger you don't even know, alot of us grew up with the Jazz jackrabbit series, so suck my ass

  • Doesn't look as great the the first two.

  • a new modernn jazz jackrabbit would be awesome.

  • I have Jazz 1, 2, but not yet three. I really like Jazz Jack Rabbit.

  • *yawn* although I'm a big jazz fan this game looks really boring

  • it wasn't done yet!

  • I have this game its fun.

  • No you don't, it was cancelled.

  • Actually, you can find this, if you know where to look. I have it myself, thanks to a wonderful place called the "SnesOrama Forums".

Look it up. You'll find it. I guarantee it.

  • why the hell are you floating >.>

  • this reminds me of spyro and tiny toons put in one

  • OMG Jazz 3D

    I never knew of this

  • I'd like to take over this project one day..

  • I used to play it, still got a copy of it on my PC.

  • I liked the side scroller better, but if someones was to make this with graphics much like or better than mario galaxy I'd play it. It looks like the sort of thing that should be on the PSP or the wii.

  • It's okay, I guess, but I'm reminded of how brilliant Super Mario 64 actually was, for transforming the platformer into 3D. This 3d version of Jazz is decent but nowhere near the fun of the 2d side scroller, the transition to 3d levels was dull and the levels here don't look very fun at all.

  • The castle basement level is awesome though, and honestly this prototype is the game I hold all 3d platforming control standards to. The controls in this game are just that good.

  • This reminds me of some sort of RPG.

'Go into the tavern over there and get some rest'...ring any bells?

  • Queen Liz gave me it

  • I used to have jazz3d!

  • Cool, found the demo. If anyone is interested, there's another cartoon shooter called World Of Padman, based on Quake 3 and it is supported with new levels and multiplayer.

  • i remember the dos game

  • I've been a Jazz fan since I played the first game. When I got my grubby paws on this demo, I was filled with joy. Then I found about the sad truth of the game being canceled. Why did this have to happen?

I would LOVE to play this on PSP ... or perhaps it would work as a WiiWare game. Wake up, game developers, and pick this amazing project up!

  • Try playing it with Detail Textures on. That's what I do :-)

  • man i would do anything to get my hands on another jazz im the biggest jazz fan ever :(

  • does any 1 know if this card has a level editor like the previous 1 becuase I have this game and jazz rabit 2

  • That's too bad. This could've been really awesome.

  • sombody go online on jazzjackrabbit 2.....

  • My first computergame was Jazz Jack Rabbit 1...

    ... And I love it...

    but also JJR2...

One of my favourite Computer Games ever.

  • Looks interesting. Probably wouldn't have been great but still neat to see Jazz in 3D... not counting the bonus levels from Jazz 1.

  • This Wasnt released or was it? :S

  • ...It wasn't. Didn't you read the video description?

  • Oh No I didn't sorry :P

Anyway thanx for the Info :D

  • I have to admit that the music sounds great. But that's something I always loved about the Jazz Jackrabbit series. I wish they finished this, I would love to play a 3D version of my all-around favorite childhood game.

  • It looks about the same as Rayman..

  • A really great game the company pointlessly refused to finish or at least release to the public online, and alongside that doesn't even allow the community to finish it and redistribute it today, on a 12 year old engine.

I have the demo and it comes with UnrealED.. a small team could finish it in only a few months. I'm familiar with the UT technology and believe it would be very easy to finish it. But well that's what licenses do to many great games like that... really sad :/

  • is this the demo version?

  • Why did they scrap this... i got this too and i really liked it. it had some bugs but it was only the pre-alpha. i really liked it. it was powered by the unreal engine

  • I downloaded this game off the internet and it's good for about 2 hours and then it gets boring.

  • shame that they didnt release it

  • Jazz Jackrabbit, being made by Epic MegaGames, made him, well...EPIC!

Another awesome game series that met its fate with cancellation was Commander Keen. My sister and I decimated 4, 5, and 6.

  • Commander Keen cancelled ? No way. You know why they don't make Commander Keen 7 ? Because of Duke Nukem Forever lol

  • I think games back in the ol' days used to be much better than games are today... I think this would've been a great game!

  • they are.

  • Strongly fully and perfectly agreed! Games today went both commercial and based on modern rendering only rather then storyline, gameplay and features. One day I hope games like this one will return again.

  • I have this game too but its so buggy I dont play it :/ I wish they finished it!

  • This is one of the best 64-bit game i ever saw, besides crash bandicoot SD

  • This actually looks like it would've made a great N64 game.

  • Dude this looks like it could have really work! Screw you epic mega games!

  • The only problem I see with Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was that the game was too easy. I beat it all in one go, and I'm talking about the harder difficulties too. Maybe that's why it was not as successful? I don't know, I loved the series.

  • The first one was good, and the second alright. But this one? Ptptptptptptpppppppp.

  • Heck, if only they'd finished producing this thing! It looked awesome!

  • JJR2 was so great !! I spent countless hours playing with my little sister with the battle levels...

So, I don't understand they wanted to make a 3D version. I mean, there's so much 3D games now, it is useless to do one more. And it is much more easy to control and to fight on a 2D field !! Moreover, it could have been cheaper to create, and they would have been able to finish the 3rd JJR if it was in 2D. What do you think about that ?

  • i hate the 3d games made like this i really hoped for a 2d like you mate with loads battle levels puuzzels time racing captfure the flag and stuff but same looks as jj2

  • Aw. I have the beta and well. I can't believe this
