The original plan was that the campaigns ran in a sequence. That's why No Mercy and Crash Course are connected. The idea was that this audio was going to be played after the mission, but the game designers decided to leave the ending on a happy, sort of "yes! We did it!" kind of feel.

So after they realised they left a major plot hole in the storyline, they added Crash Course to fill it in. I'm not complaining, I'll take a campaign over a cutscene any day.

@kojack5555 If you do No Mercy with commentary, they say they felt this would be a disappointing way to end the campaign. At first it's all "Hey, you made it! Party!" And then all of a sudden your pilot is a zombie and there is no party. Personally, I wouldn't mind. And it seems they changed their mind since they actually did it in L4D2.

Carriers are people who don't get infected and can yet spread it, if somebody was a carrier they wouldn't be attacked because they carry the infection too, however nobody has descovered a carrier that has actually been attacked. And by what the rescue guy means when he says "Are you equipped for carriers" means are you ready to shoot them if they are.

At the finale of L4D2, when you call the army, they ask if you're immune and you say yes. After that the person on the mic or whatever asks another guy if there is any room for carriers.

Some people are airborne immune+bacterialy immune (bites) some are only airborne immune or bacterialy immune and some are completely immune. Unfortunantly the helicopter pilot was not immune to infected bites.. because he was generious enough to try to help save some survivors on the street. :(

@DeaKmra its not, one of the posters in the safe rooms actually had writing on it from a survivor saying it wasnt airborne. it is debatable though if it can be contracted by being in contact with surfaces that the infected touched for example doors, walls, door knobs that kind of thing, whether or not thats even remotely true I dunno.

If it's not, that leaves a lot of question as to how some of them actually get infected. Not all of them are bit, and that begs the question of how the SWAT members and CEDA agents got infected as well.

@DeaKmra well, I do have a theory regarding how some got infected without having bite wounds appear, nobody knows for sure how long it takes a victim to turn so the bite probably faded before some were turned as for the SWAT and CEDA guys, here's another theory, the SWAT guys have gaps in their armor which can be penetrated while the CEDA guys were messing around with the infected mainly the boomer and got contaminated via Boomer bile or they took part of their outfit off and got bit off guard.
