The reason why we have crime is because of the entitlement idiology.
To reduce crime, you have to change this way of thinking.
However, in what we call "Civilized society", entitlements, are taught to us from birth.
Whether we are rich or poor, male or female. "Civilized Society" has pressed this into our heads from day one of our existence, and "crime" is just a (Bi-Product) of it. In other words "crime", is just a matter of opinion.
I see the logic of what he is saying and agree to an extent, but you need to tackel the problem at both angles,
you need the police in neighbourhoods aswell as it is important that people know their local police officer and feel they can approach them if they have a problem,
the type of crime that occours in hot spots is mainly drunken spare of the moment crime, a police presence will bbe good a detering this but you have to becareful that you dont neglect otther aspects of policing
I know that one of Philadelphia's biggest hot spots (Kensinton and Summerset) just sends the criminals around the corner when the police are put there to monitor!
No, we will not "all" be a lot safer, the people in the hot spots will be safer and the people where you pull the cops from will be less safe.
When I was in college we had some hot spots. To save money we put "spotters" this the spots. The spotters were just kids with police radios that would call in trouble paid less then half what a cop would cost. Worked well.
They have cameras, which work essentially the same way as a spotter would. They're still not satisfied with results (at least it would appear so). This is probably a result of a spotter or camera not being able to immediately stop the crime. They're simply less of a deterrent than a true police patrol.
So, logically, the RAT capable guardians against crime in hot spots are incapable only after the area is designated a hot spot?

cut crime in half - legalise drugs and eradicate poverty - it aint got nothing to do with the police.

I agree - a cosmetic change to the violent crime committed within a city...

Put cops in a hotspot. It'll bring down crime there. Thanks, professor.
