Arrrh, those Scunthorpe lot with their orange helmets, they did like a skirmish or two. Anyone remember the Queens hall Widnes 1980? got closed down just as it was getting started.
I joined up for service in late '79, early '80, Woody, Wooly , Keith Tucker & Riv got me involved, I think there was over 40 members then. Remember Crows Nest on Sean Fishers Stag Do? Battles on the Market Place, fighting at the screening of Quadrophenia, seafront battles with bikers- good times, formed a bond with plenty of people that will never be broken.
This is an excellent post, real footage from way back.Around `79/83 the coppers did all they could to keep scooterist`s out of town, cant understand why.LOL Maybe incase there were any "greasers around". Ride safe my friends.
QUALITY! nice 1 for this Andy/Gary I remember this rally like it was yesterday my uncle(Chris Lingwood R.I.P) was in the sidewinders then I can see quite a few familier faces and aint that a still of Budgie at 4.05???
Bloody hell Dibsy how you doing mate I was only wondering the other week what happend to you you reprobate:-) so your not living at the bottom of kings street now Im living in Sarawak Borneo its a bit different to GY I can tell you.
Budgie didn't appear until 1979. The people in the clip at 4:05 are Shaun Fisher, John Morgan and his (then) wife Kim. I think I also spotted Neil Greenwood and his (then) wife Niecey (Denise) as well as Saggers (obvious).
Shaun, Neil, Andy (Saggers) and Walshy were the original Sidewinders who formed the club in 1976. This went on to grow over the next few years when I joined late 1979 (my number on my helmet was 2001 - just to confuse people). We had a membership of 35+ at this time.
Those were the days :)

That was the weekend a Biker on Regent Rd tried to split my head open with a Axe.
Copper that see it was so scared he jumped on the back of my mates Scooter and told him to go to the Police Station.
Good thing was we got free digs at the station.
